Chapter 143 I've Long Been Used to It
"It's done."
"That's good," Professor Chen breathed a sigh of relief, then said, "I'm still waiting for you at the entrance of the institute. If it's convenient for you, we can go in together now. Is that convenient for you?"
After he finished speaking, he seemed to have thought of something, and his tone paused, with a hint of negotiation.
"Or do you need to go home and rest? After all, after encountering this kind of thing today, your mood must be affected. There's no rush to work right now..."
Professor Chen was interrupted by Xu Yueqing before he could finish his words of sympathy.
"I can do it, Professor Chen."
"This is nothing to me."
It's more than nothing.
Compared to the dark moments she had experienced in the past, today's little incident of being splashed with dirty water was not even an appetizer.
I'm used to it.
It's already long gone, and I won't bother myself with these things anymore.
There was silence on the other end of the phone for a few seconds.
Obviously, Professor Chen was a little surprised by her reaction.
He thought that any girl in her early twenties would need time to calm down after being subjected to such rumors and slander on the Internet and having such a big conflict with others in the police station.
But she didn't.
A few seconds later, Professor Chen's laughter, which sounded relieved and somewhat approving, came from the phone.
"Great, great! You're worthy of being my most proud student. Not only are your academic abilities mature, but your character is also mature and steady."
"You're right. There's really no need for us to stop moving forward just for those insignificant gossips."
Xu Yueqing raised the corner of his lips into a faint smile.
It's sincere.
"Professor Chen, you are right."
Her voice was clear and bright, like the sun after rain.
"Please wait for me at the entrance of the institute. I will be out soon."
The call ended and the screen went dark.
The subtle silence in the carriage fell again.
Xu Yueqing put down her phone and when she raised her eyes, she met Ji Bingqian's bottomless eyes.
He kept looking at her.
From the moment she answered the phone until she hung up, his eyes never left her face.
He heard every word of her conversation with Professor Chen just now.
Ji Bingqian's gaze paused on her face for two seconds, his thin lips slightly parted, his voice as deep as ever.
"Then I'll pick you up tonight?"
Xu Yueqing refused: "I have an appointment tonight."
Ji Bingqian's eyes darkened a little.
Only then did he remember that she did say she had an appointment with a friend in the evening.
He forgot.
"Then you go in with Professor Chen first."
He paused and added, "Contact me anytime if you have any questions."
Xu Yueqing responded, then opened the car door and got out.
The car door closed with a click.
Ji Bingqian did not let the driver drive immediately.
He looked at the thin but straight figure outside the window and felt inexplicably nervous.
Here, Xu Yueqing didn't even look back. Her steps became faster and faster, and she walked straight towards the figure waiting on the roadside.
"Professor Chen."
There was a hint of apology in Xu Yueqing's voice. She didn't expect Professor Chen to be waiting for her by the car.
Professor Chen is in his early fifties. He wears a plain white shirt and a pair of glasses, and looks elegant and gentle.
He waved his hand and smiled nonchalantly.
"It's okay, I just got here too."
He pushed his glasses and his eyes fell on Xu Yueqing.
"Come on, let's go in together."
"good."
Xu Yueqing nodded and followed Professor Chen, and the two walked side by side towards the courtyard.
