Chapter 148 The Forgotten Date

Chapter 148 The Forgotten Date

She raised her head and held the heavy documents in her arms tighter.

"Okay, Professor Chen, I understand."

Xu Yueqing quickly plunged into the vast database.

When she was about to pull herself out of those complex data models again, she was awakened by a series of deadly calls from her mobile phone placed beside her.

On the screen, the familiar number flashed stubbornly, and a row of small words below was shocking - 10 missed calls.

Xu Yueqing slapped his head suddenly.

It's over.

She was so busy that she didn't even hear her cell phone ringing and completely forgot about her date with Ke'er!

She immediately dropped the documents in her hand and called back in a panic.

The call was answered immediately, and Su Ke'er's powerful roar came from the receiver:

"Engineer Xu! Great Scientist Xu! Do you still know how to answer the phone?"

"What's wrong with you? We agreed to meet at the institute's gate at 7 o'clock, and I've been here feeding mosquitoes for half an hour! You didn't answer the phone, didn't reply to the message, are you planning to stand me up and run off with some weirdo?"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry! Ke'er, it's my fault!"

Xu Yueqing quickly apologized, her voice full of guilt. "I was just working on the data and was so engrossed in it that I really didn't hear you. Don't be angry, I'll pack my things now and come out right away!"

There was silence on the other end of the phone for a few seconds before Su Ke'er spoke with a humming voice, but her tone was noticeably softer: "Alright, considering that you have a good attitude in admitting your mistakes. However, you have to treat me tonight!"

"Of course!" Xu Yueqing agreed immediately.

Most of the work at hand has been completed, and there is still time to finish the remaining work tomorrow morning.

She quickly turned off the computer, tidied up the documents on the desk, grabbed her coat and bag, rushed to the locker room like a gust of wind, changed her clothes and ran out the door.

It was late at night, and the street lights in front of the institute cast a long halo of light.

Su Ke'er was leaning against a sycamore tree with her arms folded, kicking the fallen leaves on the ground impatiently with her toes.

Hearing footsteps, she looked up and saw Xu Yueqing running towards her breathlessly.

"Ke'er!"

Xu Yueqing yelled, and before Su Keer could open her mouth to scold her, he rushed forward and gave her a tight bear hug.

Warm body temperature came through the thin clothes. Xu Yueqing buried his face in Su Keer's shoulder, and his nerves, which had been tense all day, finally relaxed completely.

"Long time no see, I missed you so much!"

Her voice was nasal and coquettish, and she let down all her guard.

In this world, only in front of Su Keer can she turn back into the laughing, noisy and slightly naughty Xu Yueqing.

Meeting Su Ke'er was probably her greatest luck in life besides her mother.

Su Ke'er was almost suffocated by her, and pushed her head away in disgust, but with a smile on her face: "Alright, alright, this is too corny, let go quickly."

She took out the car keys from her pocket, hooked her finger, and the keys drew a beautiful parabola in the air and fell steadily towards Xu Yueqing.

"You'll be my driver today. I've been sleeping all day and I'm exhausted."

Xu Yueqing caught it quickly, saluted Su Keer playfully, then ran to the passenger side and opened the door attentively.

"Okay! Miss Su, please take a seat!"

The car traveled through the night and soon arrived at the restaurant by the river that Su Keer had booked long ago. The restaurant had an antique facade and served authentic northern Beijing cuisine.
