Chapter 82 An Unavoidable Confrontation
That thin but stubborn back dragged a long shadow under the light. Inexplicably, it suddenly overlapped with the figure deep in her memory that made her hate her all her life.
Exactly the same look.
Exactly the same, not knowing whether to live or die.
"Well……"
Li Qingzhi suddenly let out a painful groan from her throat. She felt as if her chest was being tightly grasped by an invisible hand, and she could hardly breathe.
She staggered a step and stretched out her hand to grab something, but her vision went dark.
"lady!"
The maid next to her turned pale with fear and screamed as she rushed over to support her staggering body.
"Ma'am, what's wrong with you? Quick! Call a doctor!"
"Ma'am, please breathe! Take a deep breath!"
The noise was left behind by Xu Yueqing.
Xu Yueqing just walked like this, his back straight as a gun.
It was not until the cold night wind blew in her face, making the wounds on her face feel like they were being pricked by needles, that she slowly exhaled a breath.
She walked out of the suffocating inner hall and stopped in front of the carved iron door.
She didn't move forward, nor did she want to leave.
Xu Yueqing knew what was going on.
Li Qingzhi threatened her, probably because she thought she was Xiao Chen's woman.
So she specifically mentioned Bingqian's name just to make her distinguish it.
But Li Qingzhi's vision was blurry, and maybe she couldn't even remember the threat she had made.
Xu Yueqing had a headache.
Will she have to face Li Qingzhi often in the next two years?
Just then, the phone in my pocket suddenly vibrated.
Xu Yueqing took a look and saw that it was Professor Chen calling.
She answered the call, her voice steady.
"professor."
Professor Chen's concerned voice came from the other end of the phone.
"Yueqing, where have you been? I've been looking for you but can't find you!"
Xu Yueqing looked at the dark shadows of trees in the distance and made up a lie.
"Come out for dinner."
"Okay," Professor Chen said without question. He was always focused on research. "I just wanted to ask you, how are you thinking about accommodation?"
He paused and continued.
"Starting tomorrow, the medical team will be stationed at the institute, and it will be completely sealed off for five days."
Xu Yueqing glanced at the old house in front of him and made a decision.
"I'm sorry, Professor Chen."
As she spoke, she added, "You don't have to reserve a dormitory for me. I live near the research institute. It's quite close and won't interfere with my daily experiments."
"Tomorrow, I will be there on time."
Since Xu Yueqing said so, Chen Gang didn't ask any more questions.
He laughed twice: "Okay, then make your own arrangements, see you tomorrow."
The phone was hung up and everything became quiet again.
The cold wind caused the red and swollen parts of her face to sting again.
Just as Xu Yueqing put the phone back into his pocket, the roar of an engine came from far away.
The glaring headlights shone directly on her, and a red sports car suddenly stopped in front of her.
The bright light made her squint subconsciously.
The car door was pushed open and a familiar figure jumped out hurriedly.
"I thought I was seeing things, but it turned out to be you!"
The man rushed to her in a few steps and grabbed her wrist with frightening strength.
It’s Jiang Chejin.
He still carried the chill of the outside world, mixed with the faint scent of cologne, a smell that Xu Yueqing was once very familiar with but now only found pungent.
Jiang Chejin's gaze suddenly froze the moment it touched her cheek.
"Who hit you in the face?"
His voice was low and full of dissatisfaction.
