Chapter 186 An Act of Goodwill
Sweet and a perfect match.
Ji Bingqian stared at the photo for a few seconds, his Adam's apple moved slightly, and he spoke in a low voice.
“It’s quite nice.”
Xu Yueqing nodded subconsciously and hummed softly.
She took the photo from her boss, and the moment her fingertips touched the photo paper, she inexplicably felt a little hot in her palm.
Ji Bingqian had already taken out his mobile phone and scanned the boss's code.
"bite--"
With a slight sound, thirty yuan was paid.
After paying, Ji Bingqian put away his phone. His eyes swept across the photo in her hand, then back to the bustling crowd in front of him. He asked, "Are you still shopping?"
His voice brought Xu Yueqing's wandering thoughts back.
She stuffed the photo into her coat pocket and nodded.
The two of them walked forward along with the flow of people.
The bustling atmosphere of the night market seemed to come alive. At the grilled gluten stall, cumin and chili noodles were sizzling over the charcoal fire.
There is an octopus ball shop next door. The balls in the pot are bubbling and turning over. The boss is brushing them with sweet sauce, and the sweet and fresh smell goes straight into my nose.
Ji Bingqian had little interest in these street snacks, but he was very patient.
Wherever Xu Yueqing stopped in front of a stall, he would stop as well and stand quietly by waiting.
Xu Yueqing bought a serving of octopus balls and a box of fried yogurt.
When she turned around, she saw Ji Bingqian stopped in front of a stall selling candied haws.
He pointed to the bunch of plump sugar-coated hawthorns on top.
"I want this."
The stall owner took it down and handed it to him swiftly.
Xu Yueqing thought he wanted to eat it himself, but unexpectedly Ji Bingqian turned around and handed the bright red candied haws to her.
“…”
Xu Yueqing looked at him, somewhat unresponsive.
Seeing that she didn't move, Ji Bingqian raised his eyebrows and moved his hand forward again, and the bright red hawthorn fruit almost touched her lips.
"Here."
Xu Yueqing had no choice but to reach out and take it. It felt cold and sticky.
She lowered her head and took a bite. It was crunchy, and the sweetness of the sugar coating instantly neutralized the sourness of the hawthorn. The sour and sweet taste exploded on her taste buds.
She raised her eyes and saw Ji Bingqian looking at her with a soft light in his eyes.
"Is it delicious?" he asked.
Xu Yueqing held a candied haws in her mouth and nodded vaguely: "Very sweet, thank you!"
Ji Bingqian smiled and said, "Little friend."
An hour later, I squeezed out of the bustling crowd at the night market.
Both of them were holding bags of various sizes, most of which were Xu Yueqing's spoils.
The evening breeze blew with a cool breeze, dispelling some of the heat.
Ji Bingqian turned his head to look at her and asked, "Go home now?"
Xu Yueqing nodded subconsciously.
But when the words came to her lips, she swallowed them back and looked at the things in her hands.
Octopus balls, grilled gluten, and a package of stinky tofu. If I take these things home to eat, the taste...
Even the air in Ji Bingqian's home is filled with a cool woody scent, which is incompatible with the taste of these street snacks.
Just when she was struggling, Ji Bingqian seemed to see through her thoughts and made the decision for her.
"Go home and eat."
Xu Yueqing looked up at him, a little hesitant: "But the smell might be a bit strong and will get all over the house."
"It doesn't matter." He tilted his head to glance at her. "Home should have more of the atmosphere of fireworks."
The little worry in Xu Yueqing's heart disappeared in an instant. She clenched the bag in her hand, followed his footsteps, and responded softly.
"good."
The two of them strolled back home.
