Chapter 35

Chapter 35

Lin You's family has many books, and she occasionally brings a few to school. Jian Sheng took two books from her and read them after finishing his studies. One was a classic, and the other seemed to be a book about psychology.

She thought Lin You was very impressive. She read books very quickly and could understand the meaning of the book in her own words after reading it. She really enjoyed listening to the principles Lin You discussed.

Whether you call it inspirational quotes or not, it's more like a healing balm that soothes emotional distress.

"This isn't where she's reading, you know~" Xu Xiaxia was leaning on the back of the chair opposite them at some point, propping her chin up with her hand and watching them with a happy expression.

Jian Sheng looked puzzled, and Xu Xiaxia smiled at her with an ambiguous expression: "Someone has been through a lot."

She shook her head slightly: "The one from the first year of high school..."

"You're talking too much." Lin You glared at her and said to Jian Sheng, "Half and half, the most important thing is that I've put it into practice."

Jian Sheng nodded as if she understood. She hadn't expected Lin You to have actually done it before, but this kind of thing shouldn't have anything to do with her, since she doesn't know how to date.

As she was thinking, the car drove out of the campus. Inside, there was a mix of students' quiet conversations and the sounds of games. Jian Sheng leaned against the backrest, the damp and unpleasant smell lingering in her nose, and a feeling of nausea welled up in her stomach. She glanced at the window and, without thinking, rested her head against it.

The scenery outside the window gradually accelerated, and the bus became more and more lively. Zhong Mei stood at the front, smiling, and handed microphones to several girls. The girls took turns singing.

The car jolted and jolted, making Jian Sheng's stomach churn. His head was occasionally jolted by the shaking glass, making a sound. Lin You said worriedly, "Why don't you lean on my shoulder?"

Jian Sheng shook her head, feeling sleepy and her eyelids heavy. In her hazy state, a pair of warm hands supported her face as she was about to fall. Jian Sheng suddenly felt very at ease, and her eyelids slumped down.

Lin You saw the hand reaching out from behind her and paused for a few seconds. Through the gap between the two cars, she saw Chen Zhoujing leaning on the small platform under the window, with one hand on Jian Sheng's cheek.

She chuckled softly and turned her head away from them.

After more than an hour of delay, the car finally arrived at Qinshui.

Jian Sheng was jolted awake by the tremors from the uneven concrete floor. She opened her eyes, felt something soft against her cheek, turned her head and saw a hand reaching out from behind her. Her chest tightened. Chen Zhoujing turned the hand around twice, then squeezed it, before slowly withdrawing it. He asked her through the gap in the side, "Are you feeling better?"

Jian Sheng forgot to respond. She stood there, stunned. That comfortable feeling just now was not a dream.

She felt guilty, but the shaking of the car prevented her from speaking. It wasn't until she got out of the car that she bent down and said thank you to Chen Zhoujing.

She didn't know how to say anything more. A strange feeling began to swirl in her chest and mind, affecting her emotions, just like the feeling that had occasionally come out before.

She couldn't describe it, but she didn't know that Chen Zhoujing had been troubled by this feeling for a long time.

Seeing her crouching on the ground in pain, he wanted to go over and help her, to ease her discomfort. He held the water in his hand and was about to walk towards her when a figure blocked his way. After the figure moved away, he took another step, only to find Zhong Mei already beside her, handing her water.

He clicked his tongue and put the water back in his pocket.

Qinshui Film City was said to be a place specially built for celebrities to film movies. When we boarded the bus, the tour guide reminded us that several celebrities were filming there during the day, which immediately sparked a buzz.

As soon as Xu Xiaxia got out of the car, she pulled the others toward the innermost part of the Prince's Mansion where the celebrities lived.

Jian Sheng felt really uncomfortable after walking a few steps, so she told them to go ahead and followed slowly behind.

"Can you do it yourself?" Qi Jing asked.

"I can do it. You guys go ahead. There's not much time. I'll come find you later." Jian Sheng waved his hand.

Students bustled about at the entrance, their noise reaching her ears. She leaned against the red wall and stood at the curved gate for a while to catch her breath. The group didn't leave, and Lin You handed her a bottle of water.

Jian Sheng drank some water and rested for a while. Not wanting to dampen everyone's enthusiasm, she screwed the cap back on, stood up straight, and said with a smile, "Let's go, let's go, I'm ready."

Xu Xiaxia frowned: "Are you really better? There's no rush to see celebrities, we might not even get to see them. The important thing is your health."

Qi Jing chimed in, "Yeah, I get a little carsick too, though not as bad as you, but I know it's really uncomfortable."

"I'm really fine, I've recovered, let's go, let's go." Jian Sheng took a few steps and straightened his back, and it took him a long time to persuade the people.

Lin You stopped her, saying, "Okay, okay, let's go, let's go inside."

The group walked through the gate and wandered around the complex and winding palace several times, but they couldn't find the royal palace that the tour guide had mentioned, even though the map showed it was there.

Jian Sheng had recovered by now, and she moved closer to Xu Xiaxia to help her find a seat.

The phone showed that the palace was right at their feet, but there was no plaque on the door that said "Prince's Mansion." The group was wondering about this when Jian Sheng looked up and saw two people standing at the stone gate not far away, talking about something. She nudged Xu Xiaxia and asked, "Is that a film crew shooting a movie?"

Xu Xiaxia suddenly looked up: "Holy crap, it really is! Jian Sheng, you're amazing, you even noticed that."

She took her hand and spun her around, then walked over there.

Unfortunately, they were turned away at the door; the person standing there was a production assistant, who was managing the props on the ground.

Jian Sheng comforted the disappointed Xu Xiaxia. The group stood at the door for a while. There were very few students coming and going, but when they asked if they could go in, they were all refused.

"I heard there's a film crew shooting here. Do you think we might run into some big stars and get their autographs? Wow, I've never seen a celebrity before." Several chuckling voices came from around the corner.

"When people are filming, can you really see them working? That's a good idea."

"There's always a free time, right? At the very least, it's during your rest time. Don't you even eat lunch?" He Shang was the first to come out, pouting as he spoke.

There were about six or seven people behind him, all from Class 7.

The two groups bumped into each other, and He Shang was the first to greet them: "Oh, what a coincidence, you're here to see a celebrity too?"

"We won't let you in," Xu Xiaxia said.

"See, how could we possibly let you in?" Xu Xiao slapped He Shang on the shoulder.

"If you won't let me in, then don't try to physically assault me!" He Shang turned around, and the two began to fight.

Chen Zhou frowned and moved to the side. He had his bag slung over one shoulder, one hand in his school uniform pocket, and the other hand holding a lollipop, which he was putting into his mouth. They were playing happily over there. He chuckled and glanced at Jian Sheng casually.

He's feeling much better and even has the leisure to laugh with Lin You and the others.

He gave the two who were making a scene a few stern warnings, then lifted his foot to walk over there. He had only taken one step when the other person looked over, then looked away a few seconds later, and he stopped in his tracks.

Jian Sheng noticed his figure when they arrived, and for a moment she thought of the hand in the car that morning, and her heart was repeatedly pulled by a strange emotion.

She watched him, calm and composed, a smile still playing on his lips. But when she looked at He Shang and the others, she felt her gaze might be too offensive, so she shifted her attention away.

Jian Sheng clutched the bag under her backpack, trying her best not to look at him.

Once the two teams are together, they automatically form a line.

He Shang enjoyed discussing celebrities with Xu Xiaxia, and the two chatted enthusiastically in front of her.

"What I'm saying is to explain the difference between actors and idols, do you understand?"

"I understand, how could I not understand? Aren't they all celebrities? What's the big difference? If your idol really is in a relationship, are you going to go to his house and tell him not to date? That's pure nonsense."

"Many actors don't actually hit it off in private. If they were really talking, would you even know about it?"

"You're going to drive me crazy! An actor is an actor, but love is for idols. I said I can't date my idol, and that's final!"

"Those stages were built with real money, you spit on them!"

Someone interrupted and stopped the two from fighting. The discussion started by talking about the midterm exams and then went on to gossip about the school, turning the entire "history" of No. 7 Middle School upside down.

Jian Sheng would occasionally raise her eyebrows when she heard about someone's behavior, and sometimes she would exclaim in her heart, but when she heard why Yu Chao was the school bully, she was so scared that she rubbed her arms.

Unbeknownst to them, Lin You beside them had been replaced by a taller figure.

Jian Sheng's gaze shifted from the clean, brand-new white sneakers to his face, and the smile on his lips faded.

"Why do you laugh when you hear him?" Chen Zhoujing happened to catch her smile.

Jian pursed her lips and said, "They're just having fun."

"What's so fun about it? What's so fun about it?" Chen Zhou clicked his tongue in surprise. "Is it fun that he wrote a love letter to a girl one day, and the next day he was reported to the dean of students and had to read a bunch of cheesy sentences with a lot of mispronounced words in front of everyone on the podium? Or is it fun that he cornered someone in the toilet and had to recite school rules to them all day because his girlfriend was stolen?"

She blinked, then couldn't help but laugh out loud: "Isn't this fun?"

"You have a pretty high threshold for laughter." Jian Sheng said quietly, seeing his stern face.

"Wow, that's incredible!" Chen Zhou exclaimed in surprise. "In just a few months, you've mastered the art of using the word 'humor' so skillfully?"

"Impressive, impressive," he added.

Jian let out a soft "Ah," then looked up and said, "Are you being sarcastic? You can actually praise something like this?"

Chen Zhoujing was genuinely praising you, but he didn't expect that his words would be perceived as sarcasm. He shook his head and said, "How could it be sarcasm? I'm sincerely praising you, which shows that you have a strong learning ability, right?"

Seeing that he was about to start spouting nonsense again, Jian Sheng changed the subject himself: "...Yu Chao...".

He had barely uttered a name when Chen Zhoujing violently interrupted him: "What did you say? You actually called him by his name!"

Jian Sheng was startled and took a few steps forward.

"Okay, so you really hate me." Chen Zhou sighed softly.

She looked at him expressionlessly: "You're too noisy."

Chen Zhoujing stopped what he was about to say. There were some things he couldn't control. Whenever he met her, he always wanted to say something. He didn't know why, but seeing her serious and solemn expression only made him more interested.

Sometimes he felt like a pervert, but he couldn't resist the intense throbbing in his chest.

It constantly tugs at his thoughts and even influences his actions.

He lowered his eyes, his brows gradually furrowing.
