Chapter 5: All desires are painful
Jiang Rao walked briskly towards Wuxiang Temple.
Although Qi Ze is a reckless person, his taste in women is as rough as peeling onions, and he prefers small white girls.
Little White Flower is really pure, she can't stand provocation and will answer whatever is asked.
If they weren't in competition with Xiao Baihua, maybe they could become friends.
She walked towards Wuxiang Temple. It was Xiao Baihua who told her that Qi Ze usually prayed at this point.
Who are you praying for? Even the little white flower doesn’t know.
It's a way after all. Jiang Rao thanked her politely. Xiao Baihua almost swallowed her breath and scolded her for being shameless.
Jiang Rao smiled at her and agreed with her words, "Well, I just have no shame."
Fire burst out of the little white flower's eyes.
Jiang Rao was in a good mood. When she arrived at Wuxiang Temple, there was no one coming in and out except for a few novice monks wearing robes.
In front of the Buddha, Jiang Rao did not dare to act rashly and nodded to the passing novice monk.
Jiang Rao raised her eyes. The Buddha statue in front of her was solemn. Jiang Rao secretly said "what a sin".
Jiang Rao didn't see Qi Ze. She looked at the cushion in front of the Buddha. It was time anyway. Everything had gone wrong for her this year, so she asked for a fortune.
The cushion was very old and had frayed edges, but Jiang Rao didn't dare to disdain it and was about to kneel down.
Jiang Rao didn't understand Buddhism, but her mother did, and she learned some from her mother.
She stood, gently clasped her palms together, fingers together, elbows bent naturally, and placed them at a 45-degree angle in front of her chest. As she clasped her palms, she lowered her eyes to gaze at her fingertips. Her mother said this helped her focus her mind and cleared away distracting thoughts.
Jiang Rao knelt devoutly.
Bow three times and the ceremony is over.
There was a novice monk next to him who was interpreting the fortune.
Jiang Rao asked for one and went to ask him to solve it.
The little monk had a round face and looked happy. Jiang Rao understood the trick and took out his wallet and threw a big red bill into the merit box.
The young monk took the stick and looked at it left and right, but couldn't make any sense of it.
Jiang Rao's heart skipped a beat when he saw this. He asked cautiously, "What's wrong? Can't sign it?"
“Not really.”
The young monk handed the interpretation of the fortune to Jiang Rao and scratched his head. "It's hard to say whether it's good or bad. The secret of heaven cannot be revealed."
Jiang Rao: ...
She choked, but in her heart she was thinking, maybe she didn't donate enough merit, why did the fortune teller only know half of the truth.
Jiang Rao took it and picked up the signature. The wood was heavy. When she saw the words clearly, her pupils shrank.
Just at this moment, there was movement at the temple gate.
She raised her eyes and saw the man walking in with his head held high. When he saw Jiang Rao, he raised his eyebrows almost imperceptibly.
When she saw Qi Ze, Jiang Rao didn't move, but unexpectedly, the man walked towards her.
Qi Ze looked from her face to her breasts... and finally stopped at her hand, "Want a fortune?"
"Yeah." Jiang Rao nodded and smiled faintly, and the hand holding the sign couldn't help but hide it behind her.
"Not very good?" Qi Ze looked at her face and asked.
Jiang Rao was still smiling, but the smile did not reach his eyes. This man seemed to not know what 'enough is enough' meant.
"good."
Jiang Rao replied, took a step back, and pointed at the person behind her, "If you don't believe me, ask the little monk behind."
The young monk was surprised by Jiang Rao's sudden mention of him. His face turned tomato red and he replied along with Jiang Rao's words, "Yes, it's okay."
Qi Ze saw the interaction between Jiang Rao and the novice monk, looked at Jiang Rao steadily, and said nothing.
"Tsk." Qi Ze sneered as he passed by her without any mercy. His voice was neither loud nor soft, but it made both of them change their expressions.
"Today, the Buddha... has shown special mercy."
Jiang Rao: ...
He did it on purpose, absolutely on purpose.
Jiang Rao looked at his back with hatred, but ultimately did not go forward to disturb him. She went outside to wait for him, holding the signature.
The sun was setting in the west, and the yard was covered with a warm golden color.
Jiang Rao walked to the trash can, stood in front of it, and threw it away.
The fortune slip was small, with four words written in gold on a red background from top to bottom:
All desires are painful.
