Chapter 37: Wasn't it said that the General's wife was easy to bully?
Since becoming a judge, Qingbao had never seen such a large mass of resentment.
There has never been a single instance of five or six hundred souls coming to her, demanding that she uphold justice and severely punish the wicked.
This shows how tragically the wronged souls died.
"Qingbao, what did Siyao do?" Hearing this, Sihe's eyes widened.
Qingbao pursed her lips, unwilling to say more.
She discerned some of the causes and effects, but the specific details had to be revealed by the wronged spirits themselves.
They will only tell their grievances to the person who can judge Si Yao.
Therefore, Qingbao is also waiting for the wicked to be judged!
Si He did not press the matter further.
Judging from her daughter's expression, it must have been something terrible.
She asked, "Does Qingbao need Mommy to do anything tomorrow?"
Qingbao shook her head. "Mother only needs to drink tea, she doesn't need to do anything else."
"Mmm," Si He replied, then added with some concern, "I wonder how your great-grandmother is doing."
Her grandmother gave her all of her dowry, and if the Si family found out, they would definitely not let it go.
Qingbao raised her big eyes and looked at her adorably, "Don't worry, Mommy, Great-Grandma won't die. She's an old hag."
Anyway, you won't die, so you can relax now, right?
Sihe: Baby, who taught you to use words like that?
Just then.
A servant rushed over to report, "It's terrible, Madam! Second Uncle of the Si family has suddenly passed away, and the Si family wants you to return."
Si He's eyelids twitched. "I understand."
Then, he lowered his head and asked Qingbao, "Is your second uncle really beyond saving?"
That's not good. If people die anywhere, big or small, then death is too casual.
"Don't worry, Old Yama isn't that petty." Qingbao tilted her head back and patted her little chest loudly.
The little boy's face was full of trust in the old Yama.
Si He took her out.
Two carriages were already parked in front of the side gate.
A simple and cramped vehicle.
The other carriage was spacious and luxurious, and even had two drivers.
Si He thought that Qingbao had been trying to consolidate her position, so as her mother, she naturally couldn't hold her back.
She walked toward the large carriage.
The coachman was stunned, his face filled with disbelief. "Madam, this carriage is for Madam Yao. She is going back to the Si family."
"There are only two carriages here. Do you expect me to ride in the smaller one?" Si He asked, frowning.
Qingbao stood beside her, like a little figurine, and said, "That's right, you guys can't even tell the difference between big and small when you do things."
"But..." the coachman said with displeasure, "didn't you always advocate thrift and prefer to ride in a horse-drawn carriage?"
They all know about this.
To put it nicely, it's advocating thrift; to put it bluntly, it's that she's not favored and has no chance to enjoy good things.
"When the principal wife and concubine go out, I've never heard of a concubine's carriage being bigger than the principal wife's." Si He said expressionlessly, without answering his question.
“Madam Yao is not a concubine; her status is the same as yours,” the coachman continued. “If I were to give you this carriage, I would certainly be punished.”
"Then you'll have to take it, so I won't have to punish you again," Si He said.
The driver protested, "Why should I!"
"Just because you couldn't distinguish between the important and the trivial when preparing the carriage, and you knew that even the concubine's carriage was like this, you should have prepared a bigger one for me. Since you prepared it this way, then I can only ride in the bigger one. Tell me, shouldn't you be punished!"
A hint of coldness crept into Si He's brows.
The driver was momentarily terrified.
Wasn't it said that the lady was a countrywoman with no backing and was easy to bully?
Why does she seem different from before?
Hearing the commotion, the butler quickly ran over in small steps.
She slapped the coachman across the face. "Foolish thing! If the lady wants to sit, let her sit. If you delay things, how many coins do you have to compensate her?"
"Hurry up and prepare an even bigger one for Madam!" the butler scolded.
Then, he turned to Sihe and said, "This carriage was requested by Madam Yao herself. Madam, I have already asked someone to prepare a better one for you."
Si He said, "I want to ride in this car, open the door!"
The butler looked helpless and could only hint to the driver to place the low stool next to Sihe's feet.
After the mother and daughter got on, Si He said, "Drive."
"Aren't we waiting for Lady Yao to come along?" the coachman asked.
"Butler Wang!" Si He lifted the curtain and questioned sharply.
The butler quickly replied, "Madam, what is it now?"
"Change the driver!"
"yes!"
So the coachman was replaced, and the steward gave her two new ones.
The comfort of driving a carriage is not very high for a novice, but fortunately, they are obedient despite their inexperience.
They watched as Sihe and her daughter got into Madam Yao's carriage and left.
The coachman frowned. "Butler, aren't you afraid of Madam Yao's wrath for doing this?"
"That's exactly what we want to do to make Madam Yao angry. You're still young, what do you know?" The steward secretly spit out a mouthful of saliva as the carriage drove off.
"Pah! When you come back, don't think you can act recklessly just because you have Young Master Si backing you up. Now that Young Master Si is dead, let's see who will stand up for you when you come back."
Si Yao led Su Mengmeng out.
There was only a shabby carriage in front of her. She frowned in displeasure. "What's going on? You want this general to ride in such a dilapidated thing? Where is the carriage I specified?"
“Replying to Madam Yao, it is Madam…” The steward looked troubled.
"Si He? She took my carriage?" Si Yao questioned sharply.
The housekeeper said with difficulty, "We didn't want to give it to her, but she insisted on sitting in it. She changed seats with two different people and then drove off. She's the lady of the house, and we couldn't stop her at all."
"She's the lady, but I'm not? Are you ignoring what I say?!" Si Yao said angrily, slapping the butler across the face.
“We couldn’t stop her. She even said she was the only legal wife, and you were just a concubine. A concubine’s carriage shouldn’t be better than hers…”
The housekeeper covered her face and tearfully accused Si He.
Si Yao was truly enraged. "That damned Si He! She hasn't even been served tea yet, and she's already acting so arrogantly!"
"Mom, don't be angry. Don't forget, we're going back to our maternal grandparents' house," Su Mengmeng said, clutching Si Yao's clothes.
Everyone in my maternal grandparents' family loved my mother dearly and would never let her suffer any injustice.
They will stand up for their mother.
Si Yao calmed down and smiled slightly. "You're right, we're going back to the Si family home."
No one in the Si family is on Si He's side.
Once she goes back and files a complaint, Si He will be doomed.
"Someone, bring me my BMW!"
They rode back!
