Chapter 43 Third Uncle Regrets Spoiling Si Yao
"Si Yao! I'm so disappointed in you!" Si Zhao sniffed.
Even after his heart was pierced, the evil spirits still did not let him go.
The evil spirit resented him for saving Si Yao, so it kept haunting him and trying to pull his soul out of him.
At that moment, Si Zhao clearly felt a pain deep in his soul, a pain that gnawed at his very bones.
When his soul opened its eyes, it saw the evil spirits constantly pulling his soul out from his feet.
It wanted to tear it apart and gnaw on it.
He struggled desperately, but in the end, the lower half of his soul was completely devoured.
He would never wake up again...
This pain, etched into his soul, was something Si Zhao would never forget for the rest of his life.
"I've been so good to you, why did you treat me like this?!" he screamed, his voice hoarse and heart-wrenching.
Why can't someone like Si Yao suffer such pain?
Si Yao's eyes darted left and right. "Third Brother, it's not like that. At the time, I was just... too scared..."
"Third brother, I didn't mean it. You know I'm a straightforward person and I don't lie. You have to believe me."
When she was little, as long as she presented her persona, her third brother would believe her.
All three of her older brothers doted on her.
They even said they would protect themselves with their lives.
Now that she has fulfilled her third brother's promise, why is he blaming her instead?
“Zhao’er, there must be some misunderstanding. You have to believe Yao’er, she’s not that kind of person.” Madam Si stood between the two children.
He attempted to persuade Si Zhao to turn hostility into friendship.
Si Zhao desperately held back his tears, "Mother, who is your real child! Isn't what I've experienced firsthand real enough?"
These words were spoken.
Si Yao's face was filled with shock and hurt.
"I knew it! I knew that you, Third Brother, always minded that I wasn't your biological sister, so you showed no mercy to me this time either."
"I'm so disappointed in you all!"
Si Yao used her inner strength to shake off the servants and ran out crying.
"Yao'er, Yao'er!" Madam Si was about to chase after her.
Si Zhao cried out, "Mother, if you choose her, I'll kill myself!"
Anyway, he'd be better off dead in his current state!
Madam Si cried and said, "Both of you are my flesh and blood! How can I bear to hurt one of you?"
Su Mengmeng stepped forward tremblingly, "Grandma, don't cry. Mengmeng will go and help Grandma comfort Mom."
After saying that, she picked up the judge's pen from the ground and ran out.
Madam Si felt a little comforted, nodded, and went to Si Zhao's bedside.
Si Zhao's sickbed was carried back to his room.
The once spirited young master now looks as haggard as if he has lost ten years of vitality.
"I might as well just die!" He didn't understand the point of being alive.
He banged his head against the bed frame repeatedly.
The servants couldn't stop them.
It wasn't until the crisp sound came from the doorway that Si Zhao calmed down a little.
"You're just going to die like that? Don't you want revenge?"
This was the child's voice that had just awakened his soul. Si Zhao felt a strange sense of peace upon hearing this voice.
"Qingbao? You're the one who saved me?" He looked at Qingbao, his words no longer as intense as before.
Qingbao nodded her little head, "I didn't save you on purpose, but if I hadn't saved you, no one would have been able to see Siyao's true colors!"
"What's the use of me saying anything? Mother still favors her!" Si Zhao said bitterly.
That's clearly his own mother.
In a life-or-death situation, his own mother actually sided with an adopted daughter.
They had no idea what he was feeling wronged about.
Qingbao hesitated for a moment, then said, "Do you understand my mother's grievances now?"
These words were spoken.
Si Zhao suddenly paused.
Yes, he was a beneficiary in the past and never put himself in his sister's shoes.
Now that he is the one suffering, he realizes that what Si He wants is not excessive.
She just wanted to stop being wronged.
And I want even more than she does!
“You’ve helped Si Yao bully my mother more than once. Your heart and legs are ruined; this is your retribution,” Qingbao continued coldly.
There was no pity whatsoever.
Si Zhao said, "I wronged her about that matter."
He always admired those who were better than himself, so when the Su family first settled in the capital, he became friends with Su Xiao.
When Su Xiao told him that he was going to marry his sister.
He was very happy and told Si Yao about it when he got back, which led to Si Yao and Su Xiao getting to know each other.
Later, he learned that Su Xiao was going to marry Si He.
But at that time he was biased towards Si Yao, so he said to Si He,
"Our Si family is already fortunate enough to bring you back to enjoy a life of luxury and let you marry into the General's Mansion. Why do you still demand monogamy? Don't be so greedy."
Si Yao didn't have as many demands as she did; she would have been willing to marry into the family as a secondary wife.
At the time, he thought Si Yao was very generous, as she was even willing to share her husband with others.
Looking back now, wasn't I just as biased as Madam Si back then?
It turns out that the one who isn't favored is the one who has to swallow all the grievances!
"It's all in the past. Saying sorry now won't help," Qingbao said innocently.
The little body sat down on the ground and then sat cross-legged to rest.
They curled up into such an adorable little ball.
"Qingbao, what did you mean by revenge just now?" Si Zhao regained some of his composure.
Qingbao placed a chubby index finger upright in the middle of her little mouth.
"I'll tell you a secret: those evil spirits are all people that Si Yao killed. They've come for revenge."
"Si Yao pushed you out to take the blow, and the evil spirit thought that you saved Si Yao, so it retaliated by devouring your soul with the most vicious attack."
These words were spoken.
Si Zhao was struck dumb.
"What, what did you say?"
Si Yao actually killed so many people, and now all the retribution is being taken against him?
He said that he had no grudge against the evil spirits, so why were the others either unconscious or injured?
And even his soul would be devoured.
How painful! How vicious the retribution!
Without a complete soul, he wouldn't even be able to be a human being in his next life.
That's too ruthless.
Si Zhao clenched his fists tightly, trembling with anger.
His hair stood on end, and he couldn't even utter a complete, vicious curse.
"I was so blind!"
"I must have been blind to treat someone like this as my own sister!"
He suddenly burst into tears!
He regrets and resents his past twenty years of devotion to Si Yao!
Why, why was he so stupid!
They mistook a fish eye for a pearl and spoiled it for twenty years!
He even hurt his own sister time and time again for her sake!
He, Si Zhao, is a blind fool!
"Don't cry," Qingbao said, frowning. "I can't bear to see you cry."
Si Zhao raised his head blankly, his eyes filled with tears as he looked at Qing Bao, a glimmer of hope in them.
"Qingbao, you feel sorry for your uncle, right? I knew it." Si Zhao smiled through his tears and continued:
"I knew there were still people in this world who cared about a disabled person like me, Qingbao. Uncle is so touched."
Qingbao quickly waved her hand, "No, it's just that I feel like laughing whenever I see you cry."
