Chapter 27 The prison boss is in big trouble
Werewolves have a very sensitive sense of smell. Although Tina is only a half-werewolf, she can still smell many smells that humans cannot smell.
"If you mean the smell of blood, I can provide some help. Do you remember the road leading to the underground market, the one that goes through the manhole cover and into the sewer?" Tina said.
"I remember. I have a very deep impression of it." Darien remembered it very clearly. If possible, he would never go there again in his life.
Tina said that recently when she passed through the tunnel, she smelled a faint smell of blood.
The smell of the sewer was very mixed and not very friendly to the werewolf's sense of smell. And because this was the downtown area, she didn't care too much about the bloody smell.
In her tavern, some people also had the smell of blood on their bodies. The smell of human blood is different from that of animal blood. She knew that some of them were mercenaries, and there were also some silent faces who came from nowhere and did not like her approaching and disturbing them.
"You mean you think those who were captured might be trapped in the sewers? Then I seem to know another way to transport the bodies. By avoiding the guards at the city gate, the bodies can be transported from the sewers to the outside." Darian said.
"I heard that the sewers in the royal city are very wide, equivalent to a huge and complex underground river. The widest part can even accommodate a five-story warship." Seville said.
"The rumors may be a little exaggerated, but what is certain is that there are many things hidden underground in the royal city. The underground market is just a part of it. Some homeless wanderers also live underground, and some places are dark rooms. Every time I walk in those passages, I will walk as fast as possible to avoid running into anyone or seeing anything I shouldn't see." Tina said.
"I have a list in my hand. Do you know these people, or just know their names?" Darien took out what Lady Mary gave him.
"Let me see... I don't recognize this one, but this one sounds a little familiar. This name, Winters, I remember he was an apprentice to the carpenter, a skinny and pitiful kid... My God, they completely ruined the rest of these people's lives." Tina was very angry.
"So they should be punished, a punishment more severe than death," said Darien.
They discussed for a while which section of the underground passage might be the dark room. Tina patted her chest and said that she would help them. She has always been grateful for their rescue many years ago, and she also tried her best to help those around her.
"Boss! Boss!" The door of the box was suddenly knocked.
"Didn't you tell me not to look for me if you have nothing to do tonight? Who is it? Who is looking for me?" Tina yelled towards the door.
"Boss! Something happened! Rona didn't ask for leave today, but the carriage didn't pick her up. Her little sister said she went out in the afternoon and never came back!" The bartender outside the door shouted.
"What!" Tina stood up suddenly, took two steps forward and opened the door.
"You have instructed that if any employee fails to come to work and does not ask for leave, he/she must report to you immediately." The bartender wiped the sweat from his forehead.
"I understand. Watch the store and I'll go find it." Tina's eyes immediately became sharp.
The bartender nodded and trotted back downstairs.
"Someone's missing again," Darien said.
"It's hard not to think about what we just talked about," Sewell continued.
"Then they've picked the wrong guy!" Tina bared her teeth, the rope around her collar burst open, and a furry wolf head popped out.
"Let's go, starting from near Rona's house. We will find her, she will be fine." Darien stood up.
They went out of the back door of the tavern, and Sewell drove the carriage and soon arrived at Rona's door.
Tina knocked on the door first and went in, comforted Rona's anxiously crying little sister, took Rona's personal belongings, and then told the little sister to lock the doors and windows, and she would find her sister.
There aren't many places with lights in the downtown area after dark, so Tina won't suddenly scare people even with a wolf head. Rona's scent is like a ribbon, slowly emerging in the air.
"Her scent is over here. I also smell the mixed smell of blood. Those stink bugs are disgusting and smell bad. I remember all their smells." The furry wolf head twitched its nose, and the black marshmallow-like nose tilted in one direction.
"Then I'll leave it to you, Miss Tina. We can definitely avoid more tragedies," said Darien.
So they followed the scent together and turned into a deserted narrow alley.
"Strange, there is no road here, but the smell of Rona is still here." Tina's nose moved back and forth on the wall and the ground.
"What is this?" Seville saw a flash of light passing before his eyes.
"The wall is empty." Darien knocked on the wall that blocked the alley in front of them.
Seville felt around in the crack of the wall where he had just seen the glitter, and pulled out a small piece of a headband with scattered rhinestones.
"That's the smell. Rona is a smart girl. Let me try to push open this wall." Tina rolled up her sleeves and stretched out a pair of furry, strong arms.
“We should be able to find the grooves in the wall and feel around a bit…” Darien trailed off.
Bang bang bang bang——
Amidst the rising dust and rubble, Tina's wolf ears twitched: "What did you just say?"
She tore a large hole in the middle of the entire wall in front of her. Behind the broken brick wall was a dark staircase leading downwards.
"I didn't say anything, you heard it wrong." Darien said expressionlessly.
"I seemed to have heard it just now..." Tina turned her ears.
"Ms. Tina is much more powerful than she was back then." Sevier said with a smile.
"Of course, let's go. I can feel that we are getting closer and closer to Rona. Don't be afraid, girl. We are here to save you!" Tina was the first to jump into the stairs.
Her night vision was excellent, and having her lead the way would ensure they didn't fall into any traps.
Sewell is a crow. His night vision is not very good, but his hearing is very good. He follows Tina's footsteps and steps on the appropriate tiles without the risk of falling.
Darien was much inferior to both of them in this regard. He couldn't see anything when he entered. It took him a while to adapt before he could barely see the outline.
Seville reached out to hold his hand, and he felt a little embarrassed and slapped someone in the face, but he couldn't see clearly, so he just pulled his sleeve and walked away.
Fortunately, after walking through a short dark path, they came to a section of road inlaid with magic stones of light element.
Darien let go of his wrinkled sleeve and pretended nothing had happened.
"We are very close now. Do you have any battle plan?" Tina became alert to the place where the light suddenly appeared.
"No, let's just go in and blow this place up." Darien took out eight Molotov cocktails from his pocket.
"Isn't that a bit careless?" Tina was shocked.
I don't know who tore the wall open just now.
"If this place is connected to the sewer, will it cause a sinkhole?" Sewell asked the key question.
"Okay, you're right. Then let's try another way. We can sneak in. I also have a transformation potion." Darien took out another bottle of potion.
"I know, are we going to turn into mice?" said Tina.
"Become a bee. It's small and flies fast, and most importantly, it doesn't have to crawl all over the ground." said Darien.
Time was running out, so they stopped talking nonsense. They each took a sip of the potion, and with a bang, they turned into bees of different sizes and fatness.
They flew forward together, brushing against the wall.
This bright road turns and enters an even longer underground river. This is part of the sewer. The sound of the water flowing is a bit rapid, and there are several forks in the road.
"This way, this way." Little Wolf Bee Tina led them to one of the forks in the road.
The little witch bee and the little crow bee hurried to follow.
They flapped their little wings and soon flew to another dead end, at the end of which was a wall.
"What should I do?" Tina tried to bump into it.
The wall began to fall dusty.
"There should be a groove that can be pressed to make the wall rotate." Darien scanned the wall inch by inch according to the position he could touch with his hand.
They searched together, and soon found a brick with a cross on it on it on the wall.
Tina slammed into him hard.
Boom boom boom——
The entire stone wall made a heavy sound and rotated from the middle, revealing the path behind it.
Still led by Tina, they continued to move forward silently.
They finally arrived at the secret cage hidden in the sewer.
There was no guard at the entrance of the cage, only two iron doors with three thick copper locks on them.
But outside the two iron doors, before the people who were abducted here were seen, a strong smell of blood wafted out, and even Darien could smell it.
The cage was not big. After flying a short distance inside, I arrived directly at a large room. In the center of the room was a pool of blood, which was surging and boiling. There were some shiny things that must be emitting light in the blood.
There was a cross nailed to the wall of the room, with people tortured on it. Two wooden barrels were placed at their feet, and blood was dripping from their feet into the barrels.
The captives were imprisoned in another iron gate. Low sobs could be heard in the empty room. Those captives brought here usually did not survive for more than two days. As soon as the blood of the person on the cross had dried up, a new person would be replaced.
Rona hugged herself tightly, leaned against the wall, and kept counting silently in her heart.
She prayed that her boss, Tina, would notice her disappearance, tell the patrol, tell the sheriff...anyone, and someone would come and rescue her.
There is a magic circle engraved at the bottom of the surging blood pool, and the chains and door locks on the cross that bind the body are magical, and ordinary people cannot break free at all.
So those people didn't stay here to guard, but came over every once in a while, threw the newly captured people into the cells, unloaded the bodies, and added blood to the blood pool... They had just left not long ago.
This is a good opportunity to rescue these people.
Darien removed the magic of the transformation potion, and the three of them immediately fell to the ground.
"We are here to save you! Rona! Rona! Are you here?" Tina hurried to the cell door.
The people in the cell were terrified and didn't believe her words at first. Rona, who was leaning against the wall, immediately got up and stretched her hands out of the bars: "Boss! I'm here! I knew you would come to save me!"
The crowd then relaxed and began to believe them.
Darien used his magic to break all the shackles. The chains fell to the ground, and the people in the cells stood up and slowly walked out, dragging their limp bodies.
"They just left not long ago and won't come back until they are replaced. Let's run away quickly." said a trembling voice.
Those handcuffed to the wall were also taken down. They fell into coma due to blood loss, but still had weak pulses. Darien and Sevier took some medicine powder and roughly sprinkled it on their wounds to stop the bleeding.
"Tear off some of your clothes and bandage their wounds. Anyone who still has the strength, come over, two people support one, and take them away." said Darien.
Someone immediately took off his clothes, tore them apart, and helped wrap the wound. It was done in a moment.
Tina led the people back the same way.
"Aren't you leaving?" The last person hesitated for a moment and asked Darien, who was standing beside the pool of blood and looking down.
"You go first." Darien stared at the light in the blood pool.
He wanted to fish it out and take a look to verify his guess.
