Chapter 40: Whatever I find in the bedroom is mine
"Do you feel that the beeswax here is newer?" Darien reached out and pinched off a piece of beeswax in front of him.
"I guess it's because the closure of Hallownest lasted for a long time, and the bee colony survived and reproduced for several generations, so there is a distinction between new and old beeswax here." Miss White Stork said casually.
"But this is too new." Darien broke off a larger piece of beeswax.
Miss White Stork followed him to break the peony.
"What are you doing? Do you need help?" Kenneth asked.
"Okay, okay. Help me break off those yellow ones. I can take them home and boil them to make candles and sell them together with candlesticks. Natural beeswax candles are selling very well." Miss White Stork said happily.
"Let's take some too. We can go back and make beeswax candles." Sewell whispered in Darien's ear.
This is a good opportunity to save money, as the candle consumption in the tower is also a bill.
Darian didn't know what was going on. At first, he just suspected that there would be potential risks in the nursing area, but now everyone started to pick out the beeswax together. The transition was very smooth, and there was no fear of the fighting ability of the bee colony at all.
Never mind, if you save a little, you won’t have to spend money on candles for a year.
After breaking open several rows of honeycombs, they finally stopped working together with satisfaction, and a large space was cleared in the center of the feeding area.
"Did we steal too much?" Kenneth scratched his head.
"How can this be called stealing? No one wants these things, I just picked them up." Miss White Stork retorted.
"Do you smell something different?" Darien sniffed.
"No." Miss White Stork and Kenneth said in unison.
Sewell also shook his head.
Only Jenny the piglet sniffed and said, "I smell it. It smells a little sour."
Miss White Stork said, "Sour? Is that the smell of something spoiled?"
Darien said, "It smells sour, it could be royal jelly. Let's go and take a look."
Jenny the pig sniffed around and led them deeper inside.
"I don't know why, but I always feel a little scared. There is no wind here, but I started to get goose bumps." Kenneth rubbed his shoulders.
"Is your premonition accurate?" Darien asked casually.
"The last time I had this premonition, I almost got caught by the Ministry of Magic," said Kenneth.
"Almost. This means you are lucky, and we will be lucky too," said Sewell.
"What did you do to deserve being caught by those guys from the Ministry of Magic?" Miss White Stork interrupted.
"I just stole some things, hahaha." Kenneth smiled awkwardly.
Miss White Stork immediately showed respect.
"Here it is," said Jenny Pig.
"Wow." Miss White Stork raised her head and let out a long exclamation.
Darien also looked up. In front of him was the familiar honeycomb structure, with hexagonal cavities on top, all filled with milky white royal jelly.
"They're fresh and flowing." Sewell took a closer look and reached out to touch them.
"Don't touch it." Darien held his hand.
Sewell looked at him with a hint of confusion in his eyes, but still put his hand down obediently.
"The royal jelly produced in Hallownest is not only sour, but also as spicy as a ghost pepper. It's best not to touch it directly with your hands." Darian explained.
"What would happen if it touched you?" Kenneth's voice trembled slightly.
"Get ready to have your hands chopped off," Darien threatened him.
"Ah? Do I really have to chop it? Is there any way without chopping it... It's so spicy! It feels like there is fire burning on my hand!" Kenneth raised one hand high, and the part that touched the royal jelly was as red as if it was burned by fire.
"Put your hand out, I'll pour some frost on you." Darien was satisfied after scaring Kenneth and took out the potion from his pocket.
The blue liquid medicine was contained in a transparent glass bottle. As soon as the cork was pulled out, a cold mist rushed up.
"Um...will my hands turn into ice?" Kenneth swallowed.
"Of course, Sewell, hold him down," Darien said.
"I'm very sorry, Mr. Kenneth." Sewell held down the arm that had touched the royal jelly.
Darien poured down half a bottle of frost agent. As soon as the blue liquid came out of the bottle, most of it turned into ice mist, and only a few drops fell on Kenneth's hand. The burning red hand immediately froze quickly.
It was burning just now, and now it is freezing quickly. Kenneth was stimulated and couldn't help but try his best to pull back his hand. The newly formed ice began to crack.
Darien had expected this and gave Sevier a look to keep holding on while he poured out the remaining half bottle.
"Don't move, don't move. Just bear with it for a while and don't break the ice again, otherwise your hands will burn for three days." said Darien.
"Is it really that scary? You are not trying to scare him, are you?" Miss White Stork also came over to look.
Kenneth really didn't dare to move this time. His entire hand was evenly covered with a thin layer of ice, making it look like it was sealed.
"Wait until the ice melts and your hand will be fine. Remember to give me one gold coin as medical treatment fee." Darien said.
"Oh." Kenneth searched his pockets listlessly.
1 gold coin was handed to Darien, who then handed it to Seville, earning 1 gold coin today.
"I didn't expect that the bee colony hasn't completely become extinct yet." Miss White Stork walked around the royal jelly twice and then sighed.
"Some of them should have survived and then laid eggs to hatch." Darian said after thinking for a while.
"So now we're considered to be breaking into other people's homes and stealing things," said Kenneth.
"I guess so." Sewell confirmed.
"Since I've already stolen it..." Miss White Stork rubbed her hands together, "Do you have any spoons or empty cans? Since I'm here, it's okay to take some local specialties with me, right?"
"We're going to Queen Roland's treasury later, so it's okay to take some," said Darien.
"Why?" Kenneth didn't understand.
"Because whether we take the royal jelly or go to the treasure house, we will be beaten, so it's better to do both things at the same time." Seville explained.
"Is there no way to avoid getting beaten?" Kenneth wailed.
"Oh, as long as I can run fast, it will be fine. Thank you, this jar is good, I will add it to my account later." Miss White Stork said as she dug royal jelly.
Sewell approached Darien, and before he could even finish his words, Darien guessed what he was going to say: "We don't want it. It's not tasty, and it's not an alchemical ingredient. And it's best not to use it as an alchemical ingredient. It would be troublesome if it ran out of stock."
"Okay." Sewell looked a little disappointed.
Miss White Stork was not greedy. She quickly dug out two jars and then stopped. She urged them to leave the place quickly and touch the Queen's treasure house.
"Let's hurry up and go now! The sooner we get there, the sooner we'll finish. The sooner we run, the sooner we'll feel at ease. I always feel that if I stay here for a few more minutes, the chances of my head being twisted off will increase." This is what she said.
"Then we won't rest next. Let's go straight down after finding the queen's bedroom," said Darien.
If they encounter worker bees later, it won't be a big problem. Although they are a bit difficult to deal with, just throwing a few bottles of floral hallucinogens will keep them quiet for a while.
They can just slip away quietly.
But if you encounter bee guards, they have sharp stingers and two pairs of strong and sharp forelimbs. Hallucinogens are ineffective against them, and there is no possibility of outrunning them, so you have no choice but to blow up the corridor.
Before setting off, everyone checked their bags. Darian gave everyone a Molotov cocktail, and if things went wrong, they could throw it out and blow up the place. If necessary, they could just abandon the treasure house and open the door to return to the tower.
You can come back to hunt for treasure next time, but you only have one life.
They sneaked out of the nursing area and headed straight for Queen Roland's bedroom. They were very nervous all the way and would jump at the slightest breeze.
Once, Kenneth's neck was touched by some hanging plant roots. He jumped like a frightened wolf and threw the Molotov cocktail away with his backhand.
Fortunately, Seville reacted quickly and caught the Molotov cocktail, preventing everyone from being blown into the rubble.
Kenneth's Molotov cocktail was confiscated.
The passages of Hallownest were silent, a silence that was a little eerie, as if a group of bee guards would rush out from the corner at any moment, swinging their forelimbs and tearing them into pieces.
The nursing area was not too far from the Queen's bedroom. Ignoring other functional areas, they moved very quickly and soon climbed three floors to the passage leading to the Queen's bedroom.
"Is the queen's bedroom big? Is there any defensive formation inside? Or does each stone brick have a fixed order, and you have to step on the exact position to avoid triggering the mechanism?" Miss White Stork was very cautious.
"There is a defensive array at the entrance to the treasury, but it's just a array that prevents the door from opening because the Queen doesn't want to blow up her own bedroom. As for the stone bricks, there's no such thing. The Queen herself can't remember." Darien replied.
"Thank you so much." Miss White Stork breathed a sigh of relief.
"I always feel that this queen sounds a little cute." Kenneth said after thinking for a while.
"Cute? Judging from her appearance, not really. But she is indeed a very approachable queen. She once told me that if she didn't have the responsibilities of a queen, she would choose to be a traveler around the continent." Darien dug out some memory fragments from his long-lost memories.
"A very simple ideal, but destined to be impossible to achieve." Sewell said softly.
"Is the queen the only bee with thoughts? Why do the worker bees and guard bees seem closer to insects? You didn't mention what personalities other bees have." Miss White Stork asked.
"The queen is more intelligent, which may be related to the amount of royal jelly she consumes. My feeling is that, apart from the queen, other bees are not intelligent enough. They only stick to their own division of labor and will not be attracted by the outside world," said Darian.
"It feels quite boring. Don't they usually chat about something? Some have their favorite flavors of honey, while others hate certain flavors of bees. Sometimes they even feel that the work is very tedious." Miss White Stork sighed.
"I don't understand." Darien shook his head.
"We're here. Open this door and behind it is Queen Roland's bedroom." Seville stopped.
"I'll push the door." Jenny Pig rolled up her sleeves.
This stone door is taller than any other door you pass by when entering Hallownest. When you look up, you can't see the end of the door, as if a huge monster lives inside.
This taller and larger door was also harder to push. When Jenny Pig put her hand on it, everyone joined in. Heavy clicking sounds were heard, and the heavy stone door was slowly pushed forward.
The Queen's bedroom was finally revealed to everyone.
The bedroom was incredibly large. From the side of the door where they were standing, they could see no end.
The smallest worker bee is two meters and a half tall, while the guard bee is nearly three meters tall.
The queen was taller than any of them. She didn't stand up when Darien met her. He could only look up at her while sitting on a cushion one floor high.
The tall furniture here was surprisingly well preserved, and they moved among it like a group of mice running into someone else's house.
"Where is the entrance to the treasure house?" Miss White Stork asked in a low voice.
"I remember it was next to the Queen's dressing mirror... That was more than 400 years ago. I hope my memory is correct." Darien was not particularly sure.
He only remembered the sparkling mercury mirror.
They walked carefully in the room, but did not find the mercury mirror, but encountered a magic circle first.
"Has the position changed? I remember this is the formation I drew. Let me try to solve it." Darien saw the formation neatly drawn on the ground.
He poured a bottle of special potion and silently chanted a spell, but nothing happened.
"Why is there no response?" Kenneth asked puzzledly.
"Because I drew this." A voice whispered above their heads.
