Chapter 63 The Succubus's Pursuer
The succubus acted very boldly, with most of her body leaning into the counter. Darien leaned back and casually pulled out a roll of parchment from the bookshelf.
Put it into the empty palm that is extended to you.
The succubus's body paused, and many doubts emerged from her extremely charming eyes. Even the tail that was swinging frivolously behind her froze.
"I'll know your name when you sign the contract," Darien smirked.
This is really boring. When you are exuding charm, you meet a blockhead who doesn't understand romance. The succubus who is willing to be licked by just a smile loses interest.
The succubus stood up straight, flipping the blank parchment back and forth in her hands boredly.
Sewell brought a cup of hot tea, with the same fake smile as Darien on his face: "Sir, please have some tea."
Generally speaking, when the owner of the magic shop and his assistant both show such expressions, it is time to be on guard.
It is best not to accept the tea or food they offer you, as there is a high possibility that they may provide you with "special treatment".
The succubus took the tea and her expression brightened when she saw Sewell. "Dear Darien, your manservant is also very handsome. Honey, tell me your name. Are you free tonight? I can have all your time~"
Sewell took a step back imperceptibly, a fake smile still on his face. "My time belongs to my master, not me."
Darien frowned and knocked on the countertop. "Sevier, go to the kitchen and see if there are any butter cookies in Mrs. Fitch's cookie jar."
The succubus turned her eyes back with a hint of dissatisfaction in them. Seville responded and quickly disappeared outside the door.
"Your manservant..."
"Sir, do you have any wishes that I can fulfill for you?"
The two sentences overlapped, Darien smirked, the succubus clicked her tongue, and started drinking her tea.
The color of the tea soup was slightly pink, not the tea usually used to serve customers in the magic shop. It smelled a bit sweet. Darien smelled the mist of the tea and roughly guessed which can of tea Seville used.
It is a specialty from Cornora. It is a tea that is dried together with the petals of the Fodei tree. It tastes sweet. Its main effect is to calm the body and mind. Too much of it will cause impotence.
He was really curious about what would happen to the succubus after drinking it.
The succubus took two sips and didn't seem to have changed much, but she finally stopped talking about irrelevant things and started talking about business.
"My name is Seren, and I'm a succubus. You can fulfill any wish, right? I've met a fanatical pursuer, and I hope you can help me get rid of him." said the succubus.
"What kind of solution, you mean..." Darien made a spine-breaking gesture at him.
"No, not to that extent. What I mean is to get rid of all the illusions he created, and by the way, drag him out of my room and throw him away. Because of him, I haven't been able to step into the house for a long time." Seren swung his heart-shaped tail irritably.
"What is the illusion?" Darien did not agree first, but asked clearly.
"What else is there? It's just about how wonderful life I can live with him. How can I live that kind of life, facing the same face every day? For a succubus, eating the same meal every day is very painful. I have found several people, but it's of no use." Seren touched his cheek with the fingers on his cheek.
"Is your fanatical pursuer a demon?" asked Darien.
"No, it's a magician with water in his brain. He came to arrest me, saying that he was hired by someone whose feelings I played with. He was so annoying that he finally came to my bed and let me eat him twice, which drove him crazy." The expression on Seren's face was not good at all.
"There's no need to go into these details. We can accept your commission. This is the contract. There's no money required for this commission. I hope you can pay a soul crystal core as a reward." Darien said.
"What do you want the soul core for?" Seren's expression turned alert.
The name Soul Crystal Core sounds like small crystals made from the soul, but in fact it is a kind of essence power that stabilizes the soul, and when condensed it takes the shape of a crystal core.
Certain forbidden techniques use soul crystal cores to stabilize souls that want to return to their bodies. Soul crystal cores are also used in soul exchange rituals. Soul crystal cores can force unsuitable souls into unsuitable bodies.
"I'm sorry I can't tell you," Darien said.
They stared at each other for a moment, and finally Seren looked away first.
"Well, how did you know I had the soul crystal core? It is only circulated among a very small number of demons." Seren said.
"I'm just asking first. If you don't get it, I'll exchange it for other rewards." Darien smiled.
"You are so cunning." Seren muttered softly.
"Please sign your name here." Darien pushed the contract over.
Seren signed his name in a few strokes without much hesitation.
The succubus was eager to go home. After signing her name, she put down the quill and swung her tail impatiently.
Darien rang the bell for Sewell, asking him to go to the alchemy room to pack up some potions and enchanting instruments, and then he and Seren walked through the gorse door.
Seren lived in a famous demon city. There were many strange-looking demons here, and the order was rather chaotic. There were only five days of sunlight in a month, and the rest of the time was a carnival at night.
Succubus are social demons. Seren's house is surrounded by succubus neighbors. When he was homeless, he took turns staying in each neighbor's house. Listening to the sound of other succubus eating meat really made him very painful.
Although other succubi also invited him to dinner, he refused. He still had requirements for the taste and origin of the sausages. Sometimes he would also taste desserts, and rarely participated in buffets with a table full of food.
"This is my home. I hope you can kick him out as soon as possible. I can't stand it anymore." Seren said with a gloomy face, punching the door.
Even through the wall, one could still hear the faint sweet sounds coming from the surrounding houses; that was other succubi eating.
"Okay, Mr. Seren, although I don't understand your urgency, I will get you back home as soon as possible." Darien said.
"Go ahead. I won't go in. I'll wait for your good news. I'll stay at Chris's house next door. She's the only one who won't eat at this time. Goodbye." Seren turned and left.
He walked too fast and too determinedly, as if there was a lava volcano inside his house that was about to erupt, and if he didn't move, he would be buried in the magma immediately.
"Please wait a moment, Mr. Seren, you forgot something." Darien stopped him.
"What?" Seren turned his head.
"You haven't given me the key to this door yet, so we can't get in." Darien said with a smile.
"I forgot." Seren came back.
Then Darien and Seville saw that Seren raised the heart-shaped tail and flexibly inserted it into the gap of the door lock. After twisting it a few times, a click sound was made and the door opened.
Darien said, "You succubi, the design of your door lock is truly...unique."
Seren said, "This door works fine most of the time. It's time to oil it. The lock is a little stiff and it's giving my tail a pain. Okay, go in. When you're done, meet me at Chris's house. Her door is pink."
After saying this, he left immediately, like a gust of wind, and not even a piece of his clothes could be caught.
"Let's go in and take a look," Darien said to Sevier.
"Okay, master." Sewell nodded.
Seren's house was in line with the aesthetics of a succubus. As soon as she walked in, she saw thick carpets everywhere, animal fur covering various countertops, large mirrors everywhere, and some indescribable instruments to increase the fun...
Darien stepped in very carefully. Seren had said there were illusions here, and he was not sure whether he would fall into an illusion after entering the house.
Because the floor was covered with thick carpet, he and Sewell could not make any footsteps when they walked in, and the house was so quiet that it was a little scary.
After walking two more steps inside, a curved staircase leading upstairs appeared in front of him.
"Sevier..." Darien turned his head and found that Sevier had disappeared from behind him at some point.
Ding Dong——
A loud and crisp bell suddenly rang from the stairs. Darien subconsciously looked up and saw a figure on the platform on the second floor. The next moment, his vision blurred and his body lost support and fell backwards.
When he opened his eyes again, Darien saw the curtains of the bed.
What's going on? Where is he now? Is he in a hallucination now?
Darien sat up suddenly and looked around vigilantly.
This is a bedroom that is decorated exactly to his liking. Whether it is the quilt covering him, the floral wallpaper on the wall, or all the furniture in the room, it makes him feel very comfortable and cozy.
All the wooden furniture was walnut, the room smelled of orange blossom, and the tiny flowers on the wallpaper were thorny roses. Apart from his bedroom in the tower, this was the second bedroom that made him feel satisfied.
Darien pushed aside the soft and comfortable quilt and got into bed barefoot. He stepped on the soft lambskin. He lowered his head and couldn't find his slippers.
Where is he now, and what about Seville?
Moreover, he had no potions or enchanted tools on him, only a pair of pajamas.
Darien, expressionless, fumbled around in the bedroom and found a portrait of himself and half a diary.
When he opened it, he saw his own handwriting inside.
"Wednesday, sunny."
"Sevier asked me to go boating on the lake. He couldn't row well and the boat was crooked."
"There were pairs of swans by the lake. Seville proposed to me, and I agreed..."
With a snap, Darien slammed the diary shut.
What a mess! Who's married to who? Him and Sewell?
This is not right, everything is wrong here.
We have to find Seville quickly, then break the illusion here and catch the magician hiding in Seren's house.
Darien found his slippers on the other side of the bed, opened the door a little, and looked out quietly, holding the diary that he concluded was full of nonsense.
There was someone outside the door, and a maid who was sweeping the corridor met his eyes.
Click. Darien closed the door silently.
The maid in the corridor was holding a broom, with a somewhat puzzled expression on her face.
She scratched her head in confusion, wondering what happened to Mr. Darien. Was it because the master went out without him today?
Darien leaned against the door and thought quietly for a moment, then reopened the diary and looked at it carefully.
Although this is a fictional world, we should be able to get traces of his life in this world from this diary.
He glanced through the diary and roughly knew that he was a young nobleman and had just married Seville last month. Seville was a wealthy businessman.
There is nothing special in the diary. Most of it is a record of daily life, or more precisely, a record of dates.
Darien frowned as he read. Why did he look so childish in the diary? His mind was full of thoughts about falling in love and he was not at all positive about making money. This was definitely not him.
And there is Seville. The Seville described in the diary seems to be the embodiment of all the good things in the world. That crow is not so perfect.
From the diary, we know that they got married three months ago and moved to their current house after the marriage, which means that this house is his territory.
Since it is his territory, he should be aggressive.
Darien pulled the bedside bell.
After a while, a servant opened the door and came to help him put on his clothes.
He was a little uncomfortable that the person who helped him sort out his clothes was not Seville, so he waved to the servant and said, "You go out, I will do it myself."
The servant who was arranging the shirt withdrew.
Darien put on his clothes, walked out, found a servant and asked, "Where is Seville? Where is he now?"
"Master is gone to the Rue de Toque," replied the servant, "and has told you to say, if you ask, that he is at the offices of the Gem Merchants' Guild."
Darien nodded, "I understand. Go get me a carriage and take me there."
He would never go there by himself. He was now a young nobleman, so of course he had to have a carriage at home.
The Gem Chamber of Commerce that the servant just mentioned is indeed in line with Seville's nature. Crows like these shiny gems, and he likes them too.
The servants quickly prepared the carriage, Darien got in, and the coachman cracked his whip and the carriage started moving.
Darien looked out the window. The buildings on both sides of the street were similar to those in the royal city. There were pedestrians, open shops, and noisy sounds on the street. Everything looked very real.
If all of this was done by that magician, then his magical attainments must be very profound.
What on earth did he use to create such an illusion? He was not greatly affected, but in this illusion, he could not use magic.
He had tried it just before he went out, but the spell he chanted didn't work, as if his soul was restricted.
The carriage traveled a long way and Darien rested for a while. The carriage stopped and the driver carefully woke him up from his sleep.
Finally arrived.
Darien rubbed his eyes and yawned. This illusion was so real that he could actually fall asleep in it.
I don’t know what happened to the crow. It must be very alert like him, as it suddenly appeared in an unfamiliar environment.
But now that he's here, there's no need to worry.
Darien walked up the stairs with a confident stride.
