Chapter 97 The Magician of Miracles
This is a very simple wish, and it ranks among the top ten wishes that Darien has ever fulfilled.
Just add a little bit of beauty and a little sweet voice, mix it into the potion, and you will be reborn after drinking it.
Darien quietly flew behind the statue and said, "Of course your wish can be granted, my devout believer Ada."
Ada's mother was frightened by the sound. She didn't jump up immediately because her legs were weak and she fell to the ground.
"Who is it! Who are you? Who's there!" She lowered her voice, blocking the scream in her throat, her voice was deep and hoarse.
"I am right before your eyes, look up, my faithful followers, I am right before your eyes," said Darien.
Mother Ada forced herself to look up, but she saw nothing. To be more precise, the prayer room had not changed at all.
etc.
What did the voice call her? A devout believer.
What did she see directly? The statue.
Darien didn't say anything, but lay behind the statue, waiting for her to figure it out herself before responding.
"Is it you, respected Lord Liam? You finally responded to your humble and insignificant believer. I have prayed to you for a long time, and you finally favored me. I even thought I was abandoned by you..." Mother Ada was so excited that she couldn't speak coherently.
"Of course you are not abandoned, but your devout heart needs time to prove itself," said Darien.
"I understand, Lord Liam. From now on, I will pray to you more devoutly..." Mother Ada clasped the pendant around her neck tightly with both hands, tears filling her eyes.
"Come back here tomorrow night and pray to me again sincerely, and your wish will come true," said Darien.
"Yes, yes, Lord Liam! I will come here tomorrow to pray to you again! Thank you very much, thank you very much for blessing me, even though I am just a lowly, extremely ugly little believer..." Mother Ada murmured.
“I only saw your heart,” Darien said.
"Lord Liam, you are a generous god." Mother Ada lowered her head deeply.
Darien stopped talking and quietly flew back to Ada's mother's headscarf and lay down with Sewell, waiting to be taken out when she left.
But I don’t know what happened. Maybe it was because she was too excited to see her real name, and she felt dazed that her wish was about to come true. Mother Ada did not leave the prayer room after praying as usual.
She sat on the ground, laughing and muttering to herself in a crying voice. It seemed that she would not leave the prayer room for a while.
Darien felt a little sleepy, and it was already late for bed, so he nudged Sevier and motioned him to find a window.
After flying around, Seville came back and stopped beside him, which meant that he couldn't get out.
They then waited a little longer.
It seemed that Mother Ada was going to spend the night in this prayer room, but someone came.
The door of the prayer room was pushed gently, but the force was not strong enough, so it did not open and made a slight creaking sound.
"Mom Ada." A child's voice came from outside the door.
Mother Ada finally remembered that she was still in the prayer room and should go out.
"I'm here, Darien. You've been waiting for me for a long time, right? I'm so sorry, the prayer time tonight was a bit too long." She quickly sat up and hurried to the door with the oil lamp.
The door opened, revealing little Darien in his nightgown.
"I waited a while." He looked up and said to Mother Ada.
"Did you hear any noise in the prayer room?" Mother Ada recalled her conversation with God.
Little Darien would sometimes come to the prayer room to find her, so she tried to pray quietly every time. She would feel embarrassed if her unrealistic wishes were heard clearly.
"I heard it. Mother Ada is talking to God," said little Dan.
"So did you hear what we were saying?" asked Ada's mother.
"No." Little Darien shook his head.
Mother Ada breathed a sigh of relief.
Then she took little Darien and took him back to his room. It was a little late and he should go to bed.
Darien and Sevier also left at this time.
Mrs. Fitch had made them some hot milk as a sleep aid, and it was still warm when they returned.
If they stayed in the orphanage any longer, the hot milk would have cooled and started to smell fishy. They were not too late to return.
"Dear master, how have you decided to fulfill Miss Ada's wish?" asked Sewell.
"As usual, meeting the needs of our guests and giving them what they want." Darien took a sip of milk and put it down again.
"Then how should Miss Ada explain the changes in herself? This may confuse people around her." Seville thought for a moment and asked again.
"This is the work of God, isn't it? Liam is a god that many people believe in, and he has indeed blessed people before." Darien said, "It's not surprising that Mother Ada was blessed by God, because a man who was burned by fire once prayed to Liam, and his prayers were answered."
"That's indeed reasonable." Seville had no problem, so he nodded.
There is no need to rush to prepare the potion, as it will be used tomorrow night. All you have to do now is sleep.
Darien was already feeling sleepy, and it was time to say goodnight.
"Good night, dear master. Can you give me a goodnight kiss?" Sewell leaned over and pulled the quilt over him.
"Okay." Darien was very sleepy, with half of his face turned to the pillow and his body curled up in the quilt.
Sewell smiled and kissed the exposed side of the face, then turned off the lights and left contentedly.
The next morning, Darien got up and prepared a potion that could bring about a big change in Ada's mother.
Pretending to be blessed by the gods was a nighttime activity, and they would go look for the magician during the day.
That guy had several places to be, not just performing magic tricks for kids outside the orphanage fence.
If he had wasted the whole day in the orphanage, he would not have had a copper in his pocket, he would not have been able to buy bread and would have ended up as a boat in the river.
Darien couldn't quite remember where the magician would appear next, so he and Seville walked from the residential area to the market, and finally found the magician next to a stall selling ducks.
He was acting like a clown, with a mask on his face painted with oil paint and small colorful cloth balls in his hands.
Not many people stopped to watch his performance, because the people living here were not very rich, and every copper coin in their hands was useful.
The magician was not discouraged, but continued to toss his small cloth ball for his own amusement. His movements became faster and faster, and the colorful ball left afterimages.
Those shadows were thrown into a rotating rainbow, which began to fade slowly because it was too fast. When his movements slowed down again, what was thrown in his hand turned into several white eggs.
He is indeed a very good magician. Only people with magic can turn colorful balls into eggs, right?
Darien walked over and put a silver coin into the bowl in front of him.
"Excellent performance," he applauded.
Sewell followed behind, critically sizing up the third-rate juggler who was performing in the market.
The magician stopped and looked at them with wide eyes behind the mask. He didn't say anything, but his body language already told them what they were doing.
"Hey, I'm talking to you guys." The person who spoke was the owner of the duck shop next door.
"What's wrong?" Darien looked back, a little dissatisfied with the sudden interruption.
"This is my bowl," said the boss.
"Then why put it here?" Darien's eyes widened.
The situation became very embarrassing. The boss picked up his bowl, returned the silver coins to him, and then filled it with a handful of corn kernels and put it into the duck cage.
Darien looked at the silver coin that returned to his hand, his face felt hot and he really wanted to throw the hot silver coin away.
Fortunately, there weren't many people on the street, so he wasn't too embarrassed.
But someone laughed.
The one laughing was the magician who had just finished his performance: "Hahaha, thank you for your reward, dear friend. Please give me this silver coin. This is a considerable reward."
Darien really wanted to cover his face. This development was not a good one.
It was Seville who stepped forward, picked up the hot silver coin, and put it into the magician's hand.
The magicians have been seen, and now they can go.
This was originally the plan. Darian felt that today's developments were too awkward to have a conversation, so he and Sevier turned around and prepared to leave.
But the magician stopped them and said, "You are my first guests today, so can I invite you to have a cup of coffee in the restaurant over there? Have you had breakfast yet? I haven't, and I just earned my breakfast money."
As he spoke, he raised the silver coins in his hand.
At that moment, Darien really wanted to turn around and run, but this was indeed a great opportunity to get to know each other, so he held back.
They went to a restaurant not far away together. The restaurant owner was not surprised to see the magician come in. After they sat down, he slowly walked over and asked them what they wanted to eat.
There are very few options on the menu. Coffee can be paired with a croissant or buttered toast, or you can order coffee a la carte. It is a blessing for people who have difficulty making choices.
Darien and Sewell had already had breakfast, so they both ordered a cup of coffee, and the magician sitting across from them ordered coffee and buttered toast.
Because they were in a restaurant and were about to eat, the magician took off his mask after ordering.
It was centuries later that Darien actually saw this man's face.
The face under the mask was very young and very plain. The only thing that could be called a highlight of my memory was the freckles on both sides of the nose, which were dotted in different shades.
Darien looked at the face carefully, wondering whether he should give it as a gift a potion that would make him handsome, smart, and omnipotent.
The person in front of him saved his life and gave him such a generous gift, so he should get all the good things.
He can give anything except money.
"You are a magician, right?" Darien asked tentatively to the young man who had just taken off his mask.
"What magician? He's just a magician." The restaurant owner brought coffee and bread to the table and sneered.
