Lecture 0024
Although Song Ning had heard that the school's academic affairs department would be responsible for the professors' lectures, she did not expect to be so lucky.
She had only been a member for a short time when she encountered Shen Yuxiu's astrophysics lecture.
The teaching conference hall was packed, with freshmen from this major as well as students from other majors. Some came because of its reputation, others because of its appeal...
Wearing gold-rimmed glasses, a shirt, a tie, and dress pants, this was Shen Yuxiu's usual attire when he was in school. He rested his hands on the podium, his head slightly lowered, a strand of bangs falling just to the corner of his eye. His legs were much higher than the podium, making him appear tall and slender without looking weak.
As the venue grew increasingly crowded, Shen Yuxiu tried adjusting his chest microphone several times without getting any sound. A young man stepped forward to help check it.
Song Ning was standing at the door, responsible for maintaining order, but her eyes were fixed on Shen Yuxiu's direction. She had noticed it when his equipment malfunctioned earlier.
What's wrong with these people? Don't they check the equipment beforehand?
Song Ning saw Shen Yuxiu talking to the boy again, and then the boy ran to Song Ning with the microphone he had taken from Shen Yuxiu: "Excuse me, you're from the Academic Department, right? Could you please go down to the equipment room and get a new microphone? Professor Shen's microphone seems to be out of power."
Song Ning glanced at Shen Yuxiu, who was checking another desktop microphone. He seemed to notice Song Ning's gaze and turned his head away.
The two looked at each other. Shen Yuxiu's lips moved silently, while Song Ning suppressed the urge to smile and said, "Give it to me, I'll go get another one."
The equipment room was located on the first floor in a corner. It only took Song Ning a little over two minutes to get there and back. Apart from borrowing and registering, she spent the rest of the time rushing around. By the time she reached Shen Yuxiu, she was already panting heavily.
"I'll help you." Song Ning looked at Shen Yuxiu with bright eyes, her face still flushed from running.
Shen Yuxiu's eyes curved upwards at the corners: "I didn't tell you to run this fast."
“I’ve checked it, this one is fine.” Song Ning reached out and hooked open the collar of Shen Yuxiu’s shirt with her index finger.
Shen Yuxiu was stunned, clearly not expecting this.
Her straight, prominent collarbones and fair neck—if she weren't wearing anything underneath, you might see even more.
Song Ning clipped the microphone to Shen Yuxiu's collar. The action wasn't intimate, but the behavior was definitely abnormal.
The room erupted in chaos and noise. The boy who had run onto the stage tried to stop them, but it was too late.
Song Ning turned on the microphone, her lips positioned directly in front of Shen Yuxiu's neck. She tested the microphone, and after a "hello" came through, she said with satisfaction, "Professor Shen, it's ready."
Her voice was open and fearless, but her gaze was not innocent as she stared directly at Shen Yuxiu. Her deep, beautiful eyes seemed to sparkle with stars, shining brightly like the spring sunshine.
Song Ning had her back to the audience, so no one else could see her expression, but Shen Yuxiu—
He appeared calm and composed, but Song Ning could still sense his loss of composure from his stiff body.
He said he would help, but he didn't say to what extent.
"Thank you," Shen Yuxiu said in a magnetic, husky voice.
"Junior, next time you can just give it to the professor directly." The boy stood aside, at a loss, stammering as he tried to smooth things over.
"I've got it." Song Ning looked directly at Shen Yuxiu, feigning ignorance, but her acting was clumsy.
Shen Yuxiu lowered his eyelashes and pushed up his glasses on his high nose bridge. Song Ning seemed to see a barely perceptible upward curve at the corner of his mouth, but the amplitude was too subtle for Song Ning to be sure.
The bell rang, the commotion in the classroom subsided, and Shen Yuxiu remained calm, as if he had not been affected by what had just happened.
He tapped the screen remote, and an image of the universe popped up on the large screen.
Before I begin, I would like to state three points:
First of all, this lecture is mainly for non-major students. It is not recommended for students in related majors to attend, except for freshmen, since freshmen are not divided into majors.
Secondly, everyone here needs to have a grasp of high school physics knowledge, because in the course we will be dealing with basic physics theories and related functions.
Finally, the universe still holds a vast amount of unknowns waiting to be explored, so it inevitably contains conflicting scientific facts and theories. I hope that everyone here can cultivate the ability to think and analyze independently, rather than blindly following experts. Of course, I believe that with your level of understanding, you are not quite there yet…”
After a brief introduction, the lecture officially began. Shen Yuxiu explained while writing complex formulas on a blackboard.
The blackboard was covered with a dense array of numbers and symbols. Shen Yuxiu’s long fingers sprinkled white powder, giving him a misty, beautiful appearance. He seemed to be shining on the stage, witty, elegant, noble, and confident.
Song Ning couldn't help but recall how she used to pretend she didn't know how to do math problems and ask him to teach her.
Back then, he would patiently explain things to her, over and over again, and then, after realizing he had been tricked, he would smile indulgently. This method always worked for Song Ning.
Song Ning knew that Shen Yuxiu was deliberately indulging her.
The lecture was as long as a movie, but it was like an old movie with only one lead actor; you could enjoy watching it just by watching the male lead.
Song Ning wasn't the only one who thought this way.
Song Ning considered herself to be good at science, and she understood the physics theories that Shen Yuxiu was talking about. However, after a deeper discussion, she was completely dumbfounded. She looked around and saw that there were other people who didn't understand either, but the number of people in the seats had not decreased, but rather increased.
Sure enough, her beauty was captivating, and what's more, this beauty had other enhancements, making it even more irresistible.
After a lecture that lasted more than two hours, the lecture was drawing to a close. Facing the audience, Shen Yuxiu, with a smile in his eyes, humbly yet powerfully summarized: “100 years ago, when we talked about the universe, people would laugh and say it wasn’t science. But now, it has been incorporated into the realm of science, and more and more theories are being proposed and verified. If today’s lecture has sparked even a little bit of enthusiasm in everyone for the working theories of astrophysics and science, then my presence here today has been meaningful. Thank you all for attending.”
The applause from the audience was thunderous and lasted for a long time. After the applause subsided, people left the venue in an orderly manner.
Shen Yuxiu stood on the stage, his gaze passing through the throng of departing people and landing on Song Ning's location. He softly reminded her, "Be careful."
