Chapter 22 Healing Him Little by Little

Ever since Yin Han agreed to talk to Nan Sheng, the smile on her face has never stopped, but only towards Yin Han.

So much so that at lunchtime, she dragged Yin Han straight to the cafeteria, not giving him a chance to leave. Once they got there, Nan Sheng let go of his hand, but seeing the boy staring at his empty hand, she was afraid he would misunderstand again, so she leaned closer to him and explained, "Yin Han, although I want to hold your hand all the time, reality doesn't allow it. We're still at school. I'm not afraid of what others think of me, but it wouldn't be good if the teacher saw us."

Pursuing someone is one thing, but on the surface, one still has to abide by school rules. Nan Sheng considers herself a model student.

"Hmm." Yin Han didn't want things to be like this at school either.

From the moment they entered the cafeteria, they attracted more and more attention. Even though he couldn't hear what they were saying, he could guess what they were talking about.

He doesn't care, but girls don't.

"What would you like to eat? Shall we sit here and eat together?"

Yin Han couldn't bear to refuse, so he nodded and said, "Wait for me here." Then he went to the window to get his food and pointed to the dishes he wanted. There were four dishes in total, three meat and one vegetable, all of which were Nan Sheng's favorites.

After finishing one serving, he ordered another one for himself. It was very simple, just a serving of pumpkin and cabbage, a stark contrast to the one he ordered for Nan Sheng.

Nan Sheng watched all of this from behind, and it would be a lie to say she wasn't heartbroken. She had been so awful to him before, yet he still chose to forgive her. Her boyfriend was such a good person; how could she have been so heartless to hurt him?

Just as the aunt was entering the food order and swiping her card, Nan Sheng saw what the aunt was doing and swiped her own card when Yin Han took it out.

"Yin Han, that Su Chuanlin is such a nuisance. He topped up so much money for me without even understanding what was going on. We can't even use it all. We can't waste money." Nan Sheng put the card away, not looking at Yin Han, and said casually. She knew the boy would be unhappy, but she didn't want him to. The dishes he ordered for her were from the best section, and they were all meat, which was very expensive.

How could Yin Han not know what she was thinking? She was clearly afraid of hurting his pride.

“The school can refund the money if you don’t use it all.” Yin Han looked into her eyes.

A hint of panic flashed in Nan Sheng's eyes. She was afraid that Yin Han would overthink things. "It's okay. It doesn't matter who gave it to us. Let's go eat."

Because Yin Han was holding a rice bowl in both hands, Nan Sheng hurriedly pulled his sleeve and led him to sit at the empty dining table.

Yin Han didn't say anything. He placed the food in front of the girl, then ran to a nearby vending machine to buy her a bottle of milk before sitting down to eat.

Nan Sheng looked at the bottle of milk he had bought and didn't know what to say. It was the most expensive Anmuxi yogurt there, the new upgraded version, which cost 13 yuan a bottle.

Thirteen yuan is nothing to her, but for Yin Han it's the cost of two meals.

"Yin Han, I..."

"I have money, let's eat." Yin Han swallowed a mouthful of rice, looking at Nan Sheng earnestly and stubbornly.

Nan Sheng sighed softly and said with a smile, "Yin Han, you're so kind!" Then she picked up the rice bowl and placed it next to Yin Han. She stood up, walked around the seat, and sat down next to him. She picked up her chopsticks and put food on his plate, saying, "There's too much food. I can't finish it. Let's eat together. Don't think about refusing. If you don't eat, I won't eat either. I'll go get you a serving of the same food right away."

Nan Sheng spoke gently, but her attitude was very clear.

"I'm not a picky eater, you eat more, and I'll eat what you can't finish."

Upon hearing this, Nan Sheng paused, her chopsticks still holding the food. Eating what she left behind seemed a bit ambiguous.

Yin Han realized what she was saying. Seeing the girl looking at him with a half-smile, he didn't understand her meaning and assumed she was unhappy. His heart sank, and he blurted out in a hurried, hoarse voice, "If you don't like it, you can just throw it away. This is enough for me. It's just that you said not to waste it..."

"Brother Han, do you like me too?" Nan Sheng suddenly leaned close to his ear, her eyes fixed on Yin Han's eyes, which were turning red at a speed visible to the naked eye. She found it extremely interesting.

She felt that Yin Han really liked her, but he just didn't say it. She didn't care; as long as he said he liked her, she would immediately be with him.

In both her lifetimes, she had never heard Yin Han confess his feelings. The thought of him saying he liked her made Nan Sheng's heart race and her blood boil.

"No, wasn't it always like this?" Yin Han tightened his grip on the chopsticks, hiding his emotions. He wasn't worthy to say he liked her yet, in any way.

"Alright, I know you don't want to admit it, but I'm willing to melt your heart and wait for you to say it."

After Nan Sheng finished speaking, she started eating and then fed Yin Han from time to time. Yin Han wanted to refuse, but Nan Sheng said in the gentlest tone what Yin Han considered the most "ruthless" words: If you don't eat, then I'll have to feed you myself.

In the end, most of the food ended up in Yin Han's stomach.

Nan Sheng didn't care that her classmates were whispering to each other. It didn't matter if it was bad or if they said bad things about her. The main thing was to make sure she didn't hear anything bad about Yin Han.

During the morning exercise break, while Yin Han was engrossed in reading, she asked Xiang Niannian for information and learned that almost everyone in the high school knew Yin Han.

The sudden appearance of a transfer student, extremely ugly, mute, convict, poor toad, living dead ghost—these are all labels people have attached to him... The only good thing is that his grades are consistently number one.

Bad news always travels fast, and he had only been here a short time when he was already being ridiculed by everyone.

Hearing this, Nan Sheng felt a suffocating pain in her heart. She wanted nothing more than to arrest those who had spoken ill of him and teach them a lesson. But what right did she have? After all, she was the one who caused all of this. So, from now on, she would protect him. She would heal him little by little and prevent anything from hurting him, including herself, so that he could completely trust her again.

Back in the classroom, Nan Sheng drank the yogurt Yin Han had just bought for her, sipping it slowly: "Yin Han, do you want some? I can't finish it."

Yin Han stared at the straw being offered to his lips, as if trying to see right through it, since the girl had just been holding it in that spot.

"Are you disgusted with me? Okay, I know you haven't forgiven me yet. You weren't like this before." Nan Sheng suddenly lowered her head and said, feigning disappointment.

No one could see the cunning in her eyes.

"No...no, I just thought you could save it for later." The girl still didn't look up after saying that, so he took a deep breath, took the bottle, and sucked on the spot where she had just sucked. Hmm, it was very sweet, even sweeter than he had imagined.
