The warm light from the car shone on Xiang Niannian's small face.
Su Chuanlin saw it clearly.
Before Su Chuanlin stood Xiang Niannian, her eyes and nose red, her face streaked with tears. What shocked him even more was the obvious five-finger mark on her face; her right cheek was slightly swollen and red, clearly indicating what had just happened.
No wonder she cried so hard.
Su Chuanlin's hand on Xiang Niannian's back was already clenched into a fist.
"Does it hurt?" Su Chuanlin's slender fingertips continued to wipe Xiang Niannian's face.
Su Chuanlin thought he wouldn't get a reply from her, but he saw Xiang Niannian nod.
Startled, he cupped her face and kissed her, not on the lips, but on the tears at the corners of her eyes.
Then, he kissed her right cheek.
Xiang Niannian did not dodge, letting the person in front of her kiss her.
She knew their relationship wasn't settled yet, but at this moment, she wanted to follow her heart; she really wanted someone to cherish her.
And this person is Su Chuanlin.
When she was hit, she felt instantly wronged, and the first person who came to her mind was him. That's why she cried so bitterly when she found out it was him by the stairs.
Knowing that he loved her, she dared to vent her emotions freely.
Seeing that she was in pain, Su Chuanlin felt heartbroken; he should have gone up to her earlier.
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, I'm here, you have me..." Su Chuanlin comforted her while continuing to kiss her cheek.
Those hot lips landed on her delicate face, causing Xiang Niannian's body to tremble involuntarily, her hands helplessly clutching Su Chuanlin's clothes.
This kiss contained no desire, only comfort and tenderness.
After an unknown amount of time, Xiang Niannian calmed down and became more sober.
She suddenly realized how ambiguous her relationship with Su Chuanlin was, straddling him and holding him tightly.
Before she could feel embarrassed, she heard a low, husky voice above her: "Niannian, the school is closed now. Can I take you to my house to rest for a bit?"
After saying that, Su Chuanlin, fearing that Niannian might misunderstand, continued, "Don't worry, it's not the Su family's. I also have an apartment nearby, and it's cleaned every day. I'll take you back to school tomorrow morning, okay?"
"good."
Xiang Niannian did not refuse.
"So, Niannian, can you let go for a little while I go get the car? I'll give you a big hug when we get home."
Although Su Chuanlin really enjoyed hugging her, the current situation didn't allow it.
As expected, these words made Xiang Niannian even more embarrassed. She released Su Chuanlin's clothes with both hands, and kept her head down.
Su Chuanlin knew she was just shy afterwards, so he didn't say anything. He picked her up and got out of the car, then put her in the passenger seat, fastened her seatbelt, and went around to the driver's seat himself.
During the drive, Xiang Niannian didn't dare to look at Su Chuanlin even once. She lay down in the passenger seat, looking out the window, lost in thought.
Twenty minutes later, the car stopped.
Su Chuanlin quietly turned off the engine because he saw through the car window that Xiang Niannian was already asleep.
He got out of the car and carefully hugged her back into his arms, then walked towards his apartment.
As soon as he opened the door, Su Chuanlin went straight to the master bedroom, carefully placed the person in his arms on the bed, took off her shoes and coat, and covered her with a blanket.
Then he went out and went to the kitchen, where he was fiddling with something. After he finished, he went to the bathroom and came out carrying a washbasin.
Su Chuanlin sat on the side of the bed, next to Xiang Niannian, looking at the sleeping girl. Perhaps she had just cried too hard, because even in her sleep, her body was still trembling unconsciously.
A few tiny teardrops clung to her long eyelashes, making her look incredibly pitiful.
Su Chuanlin wrung out a hot towel from the washbasin and gently wiped Xiang Niannian's face.
It didn't end until I was sure there were no more tear stains on my face.
Then he went to the kitchen, took out the eggs he had just boiled, peeled them, wrapped them in a strainer, went into the master bedroom, and rolled the eggs on Xiang Niannian's face.
The movements were extremely gentle and careful, without disturbing Xiang Niannian who was fast asleep.
Su Chuanlin looked at the increasingly swollen cheeks, his tightly furrowed brows never relaxing. This was the first time he had ever seen a mother so cruel to her daughter.
What an obedient girl, how could she bear to do that?
After rolling the egg on the surface for a while, Su Chuanlin took out the ointment and applied it. The clock on the wall had turned to a little past one in the morning. He tidied everything up before lying down on the sofa in the master bedroom, facing the person on the bed.

The next morning.
Xiang Niannian's biological clock is quite regular. She slowly opened her eyes. Because she had shed too many tears last night, her eyes were a little sore and she hadn't recovered for a while.
After a night's sleep, Xiang Niannian's emotions had completely stabilized, and everything that happened last night slowly came back to her.
She sat up abruptly in bed, looked around at her surroundings, then lifted the covers to look at herself. After letting out a sigh of relief, all that remained was endless embarrassment.
It's over. She doesn't know how to face Su Chuanlin anymore.
After a few minutes, Xiang Niannian picked up her coat, put on her shoes, and went outside.
She was still thinking about how to explain to Su Chuanlin. After all, she hadn't agreed to his request yet, and she was asking for his help, which made her feel very embarrassed. Most importantly, she was afraid that Su Chuanlin would misunderstand that she was deliberately stringing him along.
