It was nearly 10 o'clock when Yin Han returned to the city with the amulet.
He didn't go directly to the girl, but instead went to a convenience store to buy a pair of black gloves. His hands were covered in small bruises, and he went straight to the downstairs of Yinian Apartment.
Looking at a lit room upstairs, the boy's lips curled into a slight smile. He took out his phone and made a call. The other end answered almost instantly, and before he could speak, a girl's cheerful voice came through: "Yin Han, are you here? You're downstairs, right? I'm coming down right now!"
The moment Yin Han heard the girl's voice, he felt as if his wounds had been instantly healed: "Slow down, I'll wait for you."
Nan Sheng, who had run out with the phone in hand, slowed down upon hearing Yin Han's instructions, but it didn't affect her rapid movements at all; only her breathing slowed down: "Okay."
"Yin Han! Ahhhhh I knew you'd come." Nan Sheng saw the boy standing backlit as soon as she came downstairs. She shouted his name loudly and spread her arms wide when she was still dozens of meters away from him, her meaning clear.
Yin Han watched as the person running towards him with a smile on their face, and subconsciously touched his heart. Yes, it was warm.
Even before, she had never expressed such fervor towards him.
Nan Sheng bumped into him, hugged him tightly around the waist, and looked up to remind him, "Yin Han, hug me!"
The next second, Yin Han hugged her tightly. This time, instead of resting his chin on the top of her head as usual, he bent down and leaned his head against her shoulder.
"Don't move, I need to replenish my energy."
Nan Sheng paused, and just as she was about to turn her head to look, she stopped when she heard his words and let him stay close to her.
Her small hands slowly moved from her waist to her back, gently patting and stroking it.
"Are you too tired from work?"
Yin Han shook his head.
"Then can I kiss you?" Nan Sheng touched his buzz cut again.
Yin Han shook his head again, took out a peace charm he had obtained from Lingyun Temple from his coat pocket, and released the person in his arms: "This is for you."
Nan Sheng stared blankly, not knowing what it was, but still subconsciously took it: "What is this? Why are you suddenly wearing gloves today?"
Yin Han didn't answer. He closed his eyes slightly, placed his hands on her waist, and gently kissed her forehead: "Peace charm, I hope you can be safe and happy."
He finally gave her peace; last time he didn't even have a chance to give it to her.
This time, instead of bending down, he simply grabbed her waist and lifted her up to be level with him.
Nan Sheng gazed into his affectionate eyes, her love practically overflowing, yet she didn't take it any further. She clutched the amulet tightly in her hand, hooked her arms around his neck, and with a powerful push of her legs, she clung to the boy's body, kissing his thin lips.
Unlike Yin Han, she wouldn't take the initiative. Instead, she pressed her lips together and gently asked, "Will you kiss me?" Then she stuck out her tongue and licked his lips.
Yin Han shuddered. After her tongue touched him, a tingling sensation spread throughout his body. His heart pounded, and his deep eyes surged with intense emotions.
He felt that at this moment, he should obediently listen to her and kiss her!
Yin Han moved back and forth, breathing in her scent, kissing her deeply and passionately.
Nan Sheng could barely hold on to her body. Yin Han seemed to notice, and tightened his grip on her waist, pulling her into his embrace.
They didn't know how much time had passed. The two stared at each other, unable to hear any outside sounds, only their own uneven breathing.
"Did you buy this?" Nan Sheng held up the amulet in her hand.
Yin Han nodded slightly.
"I also want you to be safe, healthy, and happy." Especially now, she wants him to be happy.
"As long as you are safe," I will always be there for you.
Yin Han did not say the second half of his sentence.
But Nan Sheng understood.
"Yin Han, shall we be together now?"
Before Nan Sheng could finish speaking, Yin Han stopped her: "Sheng Bao, no."
You said you'd wait for me.
"Okay, so is this a Christmas present?" Nan Sheng still didn't get off him, and then stole another kiss on the corner of his mouth.
Nan Sheng only found out this morning that Christmas is in a few days. Xiang Niannian sent her a message asking what gift she should give Yin Han for Christmas.
She suddenly remembered that Christmas was coming, and she had been thinking for a long time about what to give him, but the moment he came to find her, she had already thought of it.
She wanted to express herself to him in the same way the boy had once done for her.
"no."
For Yin Han, her safety was not something that could be represented by a gift. It was simply a desire for God to bless and protect her. He did not believe in God, but for Nan Sheng's sake, he had to believe.
The reason he chose to give her the amulet as soon as he received it was because he was afraid that if the amulet stayed on him for too long, it would lose its power and become ineffective, and that the amulet would remain on him.
Yin Han has never been a lucky person, because he used up all his luck on the night he met Nan Sheng.
"Yin Han, it's not just about my safety, you need to be safe and happy too. Right now, all I can think about is you. Only when you're well can I be well. How about I buy you a good luck charm tomorrow? We can carry it with us together."
"No need, it's enough that you're always by my side."
“I’m not just by your side now, I’m on top of you.” Nan Sheng swung her legs.
Nan Sheng had already made up her mind; she would go and buy him one tomorrow.
"Yes, so let's stay safe together."
******
When Yin Han returned to her cramped rented room, it was already midnight.
He sat on the hard wooden bed, slowly rolled up his trouser leg, and saw the injury on his knee by the moonlight filtering through the crack in the window.
The bruises on the skin and the blood around the heel had scabbed over, but perhaps because I had just been holding the girl, the scabbed wounds had started to bleed again.
Yin Han didn't care. He just sat on the headboard with his trousers rolled up, looking at the moonlight and murmuring: "Heavens, remember to protect her for life. If that's not possible, take my safety and put it on her."
Meanwhile, before going to sleep, Nan Sheng kept thinking about the peace charm that Yin Han had given her. Although it was made of very ordinary cloth with no patterns or decorations, she was still very happy with it.
Suddenly, her phone chimed with a notification. She saw a message from someone saved as "Brother Han": "Arrived."
After replying "okay," she said goodnight and fell asleep peacefully, still clutching the amulet tightly in her hand, and had a good night's sleep.
