Chapter 21: We Should Be Friends

Downstairs in the Yi Nian residential complex.

Nan Sheng turned back every step of the way, looking at Yin Han, who was also looking at her as he got further and further away from her.

She had excellent eyesight, and she knew that he was smiling at her too.

Nan Sheng felt incredibly lucky. Not only had God given her a second chance at life, but Yin Han was also slowly accepting her again. She looked at the long shadow cast by the streetlight, which seemed rather lonely. This made her act faster than she thought. Without a second thought, she ran back and hugged the boy tightly with open arms.

"Brother Han, I really like you." Nan Sheng repeated herself, this time speaking very loudly.

Yin Han was stunned. This was the second time he had heard it, and it still gave him a jolt. He didn't know whether he should believe it or not.

He wanted to look down into the girl's eyes, but she was buried in his chest and couldn't see them.

Just as Yin Han hugged her back, he seemed to remember something, and his raised hand fell back down, clenching into a fist at his side.

Nan Sheng hugged him for a long time but still didn't get a response from Yin Han. She was definitely disappointed. She thought that Yin Han must like her, otherwise why would he help her take revenge in her previous life and even commit suicide in front of her tombstone? He just didn't trust her enough.

"It's okay, take it slow," Nan Sheng reassured herself.

Nan Sheng let go of Yin Han and looked up at him. Yin Han saw the disappointment in her eyes and his heart tightened.

After finally getting her hair cut short, Nan Sheng saw those thick, dark eyes. She hoped to see something in them, but she didn't.

She sighed softly, took off the scarf from her neck, and under Yin Han's questioning gaze, tiptoed to wrap the white scarf around his neck, gently instructing him, "It'll be warmer with this scarf. Be careful on your way back. We can meet at school tomorrow. Hmm... I'll bring you breakfast tomorrow, okay?"

His nostrils were filled with her unique scent, and Yin Han felt like he was being poisoned.

"good."

In the stillness of the night, the boy nestled on his small bed, clutching the girl's scarf, and took a deep breath.

He suddenly remembered what the girl had said to him that night: "I really like you."

He wanted to answer her loudly that he loved her too, but he didn't know when it had started, and he had never had the courage to tell her, neither in the past nor now.

Now, not only have we lost the courage, but we've also lost the right to speak out.

The girl always lived in a beautiful castle, and he wasn't a prince outside the castle... But he didn't dare to hope anymore. He could just be friends with her again. It shouldn't be dirty, right?

Thinking this, Yin Han's mind was filled with her image. Holding her scarf in his arms, he felt as if she were right there with him... He even had wicked thoughts about her again, and his hand slowly reached down...

If the girl finds out, will she hate him again? Just like that day.

The next morning.

Nan Sheng walked into the classroom happily, carrying a heavy breakfast in her schoolbag.

He thought the person he had been longing for hadn't arrived yet, but to his surprise, she was already sitting in her seat. His gaze was fixed on the classroom door, and the moment she appeared, his previously listless eyes lit up.

Nan Sheng hurriedly ran to her seat and sat down.

"Holy crap, family, is this just my imagination? Or did I get up wrong this morning? Is that Yin Han in that seat?"

"I'm starting to doubt my own eyes too."

"My goodness, I was so blind before! There's an incredibly handsome guy hiding in our class!"

"You know what, after Yin Han got his haircut, once I saw his features clearly, I almost gave up my idol and became a fan of him. When I came here this morning, I saw him sitting in a seat as soon as I entered the door. I thought he was some handsome guy and was about to go up and get to know him when I realized it was Yin Han! Heavens, who can understand how I felt at that moment?"

"......"

As soon as Nan Sheng sat down, she heard her classmates whispering.

Turning to look at the person in question, she sighed softly. She should have realized it sooner; Yin Han was so handsome, there would definitely be many people who liked him, and this was only the beginning! Had she shot herself in the foot?

Although Nan Sheng's sigh was very soft, Yin Han still heard it. Thinking that something was wrong, he pursed his lips and tried to make his voice sound less unpleasant: "What's wrong?"

"Yin Han, you should grow your hair long again. That way, no one will notice how handsome you are, only I will."

boom!

Upon hearing this, Yin Han thought that she was too ugly and that the woman disliked her. Indeed, she had said that she liked handsome men.

Yin Han was momentarily at a loss, her body trembling slightly, and she subconsciously lowered her head again.

Nan Sheng only realized what was happening when she saw him like this. She felt extremely sorry for him and angrily slapped her forehead.

"No, that's not what I meant, Yin Han. It's just that you're too good-looking. Look, you just got your hair cut, and girls are already saying they like you, and more than one at that. I don't like that, so that's why I said that," Nan Sheng explained nervously, holding his hand.

Yin Han noticed her anxiety and unease. Was she jealous? Or was it possessiveness?

"Really?"

"Um?"

"Am I really that good-looking?" Yin Han repeated.

Nan Sheng was both amused and exasperated. So, how many girls have fallen for his face since last night?

Just looking into his eyes and seeing his sexy, thin lips opening and closing as he spoke made her want to kiss him.
