Hot cocoa

Hot cocoa

After drinking a cup of hot cocoa, Chi Nuo instantly returned to her pre-outing state.

The rain and snow outside gradually stopped, and she excitedly wrapped the scarf around her neck again, put on her gloves, and stared straight at Wen Zhuyao.

“Let’s go, the rain and snow have stopped outside.” Chi Nuo ran over and sat down next to her.

Wen Zhuyao picked up the equipment placed beside her and nodded: "Let's go, let's go and come back soon, otherwise there probably won't be anywhere for us to heal tonight."

"Mmm, I understand." Chi Nuo nodded casually, not really listening to what was being said.

She stood up to make way, letting Wen Zhuyao walk in front while she observed from behind. Even on a snowy day, there were still a few people scattered around the shop.

It's hard to understand why people seem to come here specifically for a drink.

Aside from a brief conversation when he came in, Chen Yan, who was also the receptionist, waiter, barista, and store manager, did not interact with anyone else.

Chi Nuo withdrew her observing gaze and followed Wen Zhuyao out of the shop.

Looking outside, the snow fell on the ground, covering everything, so beautiful and picturesque. Chi Nuo ran forward a couple of steps, but a gust of wind blew her hat up.

"I thought it wasn't cold anymore, why did they have to ambush me?" She stomped on the snow angrily, then tried to continue walking, but slipped and almost fell.

She fell backward, and Wen Zhuyao caught her from behind, placing his hands under her armpits to straighten her up.

Wen Zhuyao adjusted her scarf and gloves and said, "This is Xue's punishment for your slander. Let's go, it's only 700 meters away."

"I understand, Xue, we're even now, don't be cunning anymore." Chi Nuo, still feeling a bit scared, took Wen Zhuyao's arm and followed her step by step.

Wen Zhuyao carried a small pendant, which reminded her to watch her step from time to time. After walking against the wind for a while, the wind changed direction after she turned a corner, and things got much better.

The shopping mall came into view, and the entrance was getting closer and closer to them.

Chi Nuo let go of her hand and couldn't help but rush inside first: "I'll go queue up first. The limited-edition snacks are delicious. Message me if you want anything else!"

"Slow down." Wen Zhuyao stopped in place, expressing her helplessness, but quickly caught up, keeping a short distance between them.

Once inside the mall, instead of going in the same direction as Chi Nuo, she took the escalator to the third floor and got a number from the restaurant they wanted to eat at.

It's hard to say whether everyone shares the same mindset: no one would go out on a snowy day.

"Number 056, there is number 11 ahead of it, please wait patiently."

Wen Zhuyao looked at the person and the waiting number in her hand, then went downstairs to find Chi Nuo. The scene downstairs was the same.

But... it's a little better, just a tiny bit.

There are far fewer people than above, and the queue only takes about five minutes.

Chi Nuo was looking down at her phone and didn't notice Wen Zhuyao coming over. She wanted to take out the payment code first so she could quickly grab the items and pay later.

The moment I turned on my phone.

She saw a series of messages from one person, and she knew that she was probably doomed.

Mo asked, "Did you go to work? Is there anything wrong?"

Mo asked, "Are you chatting and having a good time? Why aren't you looking at your phones?"

Mo asked, "Please, can't you just say half of what you mean? Give me a reply, okay???"

"Voice call not connected..."

"Voice call not connected..."

Chi Nuo silently typed, telling him, "I came over right after I sent it to Xiao Zhu, and then I didn't check my phone. I'll tell you about this later."

"It's nothing, don't worry, I brought her out to play."

Wen Zhuyao walked up behind her without getting too close, so she couldn't see the person opposite her. She asked, "Ruan Nuonuo, who are you texting?"

"ah!"

Chi Nuo immediately locked the screen, held the phone to her chest, turned around and saw her breathe a sigh of relief, touching her heart.

"I was replying to a work-related message, and you sounded just like my mom. I thought I'd been arrested, it scared me to death." She was genuinely frightened, and it's also true that she almost got caught.

My current state is not suitable for contacting Mo Wen.

Wen Zhuyao, with a feigned obedient smile, took a few steps back: "I've given you your number. Once you've bought it, we can go upstairs to eat."

"Great! By the way, speaking of work, I haven't told you about this yet." Besides supervising the children's studies, Chi Nuo also keeps an eye on work while back in her hometown.

I'm already overwhelmed by all the information and still have no clue what to do.

Wen Zhuyao couldn't offer any help in this regard: "Okay, we can talk about it during dinner later."

As for listening, well, you'll have a natural talent for it.

Mo Wen leaned back completely on the living room sofa, lying there with his phone pressed against his face. After reading the message, his arm naturally fell to his side.

He had a helpless expression on his face.

Those who are forgotten will always be forgotten again.

She only turned her phone back on when Wen Zhuyao and Chi Nuo returned home and went into their respective rooms.

Wen Zhuyao paid for the meal and the taxi, and she had no chance to remember that she had been chatting with someone.

There was an opportunity during the payment stage.

But Mo Wen was going through a period of emotional adjustment, ignoring everyone, and eating his lunch at that time.

Wen Zhuyao arrived home alone and began her normal filming and editing routine. She ate a simple meal that evening.

The stories that are owed need time to fill.

Before she stopped updating, she started a new topic for submissions called "The First Meeting and the Last Meeting". When she was choosing a topic, she just randomly picked one from the most popular topics.

Unexpectedly, the very first thing to happen was initiated by Wen Zhuyao herself.

Stories can unfold in different ways, and so can a day in life; some are happy, some are sad. The happy ones have been found, and so have the sad ones.

And so a new day begins.

Wen Zhuyao had an appointment today, so she got up early to get ready, busied herself for a while, had lunch, and left at 1 p.m., arriving at the coffee shop half an hour early.

When she arrived, a few new customers had just come into the store, and she casually found a place to sit.

When the appointed time arrived, Chen Yan, who had been busy, finally had some free time and took two cups to the spot that Wen Zhuyao had chosen.

Chen Yan pushed one of the glasses in front of her and said bluntly, "My idea is very simple. Su Yu and I are about to get our marriage certificate. I want to make the answer harmonious and satisfactory so that we can take things further."

"Your aunt will come to check it out. She will give you priority and then inform your parents."

"I'll put my marriage certificate out in the open then. You can just play the victim. When you're asked or asked for help, don't break character." He was certain that no one would tolerate such a situation.

"They should come to apologize. You can keep the food and have some. Just let your parents face them."

Wen Zhuyao thought there was no problem with it; her heartbreak was a good reason. She turned to ask something else: "But what about Senior Su Yu? I haven't seen her for a long time."

"She...she is sick."

As Chen Yan spoke of this, he unconsciously gripped the blanket tighter and couldn't help but sigh: "I've been in the hospital for the past few years, but my condition has improved a lot recently, so I want to resolve this once and for all."

"Take her far away and live a good life." They've wasted too much time; there's no time to waste.

This mess should have been resolved long ago, it should have disappeared long ago.

Wen Zhuyao hadn't expected the impact to be greater than she had imagined, and added, "Explain your plan clearly, and I won't refuse it."

“After all, if all the people you’re shown are the most suitable age, I don’t think many people would be willing to go on blind dates.”

Being chosen was an unknown coincidence, which made her want to relax but remained on edge for the last few millimeters.

Chen Yan smiled as he listened, his eyes filled with unyielding weariness: "It is indeed as you said. What actually made me change my mind was your aunt. Her existence made me finally decide to find you."

"My aunt?" Wen Zhuyao had been given some background information, so hearing this title here wasn't too surprising.

Chen Yan nodded, acknowledging her idea: "Yes, you know, if you live in a place where you can never leave, then no one will have any secrets."

“That’s how it was in the previous generation. Your aunt’s story is a typical negative example from my grandfather, and then he passed it on to my dad. He would bring it up at the slightest sign of trouble and lecture me about how men and women should behave.”

Chen Yan is like a gossip collector, with commentary records, gathering firsthand information from his father and his father's father.

"She's a good person, and she's even better to you. Your aunt has been involved in your education and personal development from childhood to adulthood, and she's always on your side. She's guaranteed to win."

“For a period of time, your maternal grandparents passed away, and my paternal grandfather and my father lost their listening channels. They had nothing to say, and I gradually forgot about them, until…” Chen Yan paused here.

Wen Zhuyao finished his sentence, which he had only half-finished: "Until you met me, no wonder you had that expression on your face when you first heard me say my name. Am I that famous behind closed doors?"

"You've become more than just famous; you've caused quite a stir with your blind dates in the last two years."

She accepted what Chen Yan said. The fact that the person ran away, moved out, and only came back for the New Year was already a huge blunder.

"That's how they'll start bringing your name up again, promoting you to the new negative example." He took a sip of coffee, the bitterness spreading, but a hint of sweetness returned as he swallowed.

"But they also think your prickly yet submissive nature is great. They admire it and contacted your aunt, even begging her to help."

Chen Yan didn't say anything harsh, but pleaded and begged for a chance in a humble voice: "You've been praising me to the skies. My persona is not only that I know you, but that I've also been a bachelor for 26 years and have a kind personality."

"A successful career, two houses and a car, savings, loving parents, five houses and three cars, retirement pension, no worries about old age."

Wen Zhuyao nodded in agreement. No wonder her aunt agreed and then suddenly appeared to find her. Such conditions were indeed very good for a blind date.

“I heard them say that it’s okay to give it a try, and that we shouldn’t force it, so I know your aunt agreed.” Chen Yan finished speaking, and that was the reason for this.

Wen Zhuyao picked up her bag, slung it over her shoulder, stood up, and said, "That's settled then. If anything unexpected happens, you can contact me. Congratulations on your marriage in advance."

"Okay, thank you," Chen Yan smiled from the bottom of his heart because of these words.

Chen Yan: "I wish you a good life, smooth sailing and peace, with your lover by your side."
