Chapter 16
In the car, the boss continued to chatter, but Yan Qing did not respond.
Sensing that the atmosphere between the two was not right, the boss ended his stand-up comedy and quietly held the steering wheel.
We encountered heavy rain on the way back, and it was already dark when we arrived at the B&B.
After getting off the car, Yan Qing went straight back to the room. Liya, who was about to say hello, stopped her arm in the air, looking a little at a loss.
Seeing that Mingxu didn't go up, she walked over and asked in a low voice, "What's going on?" As soon as she finished speaking, she was pulled behind by the boss, "Go upstairs and take a hot shower, don't catch a cold. I'll make you some ginger tea, and you can drink it when you come down later."
After watching Mingxu disappear into the hall, Liya spoke: "They were fine when they left."
The boss didn't know either. The first time he saw Ming Xu, he saw that there was a spark between the two of them, but now it seems that this spark is showing signs of extinguishing.
When Liya heard her husband's guess, she kicked him hard and said, "Stop talking."
After Yan Xi finished taking a shower, she saw a message from Liya on her phone, asking her to go downstairs and drink ginger tea to ward off the cold.
She rejected it.
She lay on the bed, smelling the damp smell in the air, and suddenly remembered that it seemed to be a rainy day that day.
Downloading a game takes ages, and uninstalling it is a snap; it's gone, with only the empty icon space left as a reminder of its existence.
The door rang.
When I opened the door, Ming Xu was standing outside with a tea tray in his hand. He had changed his clothes.
"Why are you here?" Yan Qing stepped aside and invited the person into the room.
Ming Xu picked up the cup and handed it to her: "Drink some ginger tea, don't catch a cold."
She didn't get wet in the rain, but when she was in the ancient city, Mingxu's shoulder was wet, and she noticed it when she got on the bus.
Seeing Yan Qing's low spirits, Ming Xu looked at her from behind and said, "Now we have a chance to start over, so we don't have to worry about what happened before."
Yan Qing knew what he was talking about. "The ginger tea is here. You can leave now."
That night, Leah informed everyone that flights had resumed, and at dawn the next day, a room card was left at the front desk.
After receiving no reply to the message he sent early in the morning, Yan Qing came to the restaurant alone.
The boss saw her and casually said, "Why did your friend leave so early in the morning?"
Yan Qing was stunned for a second, then immediately returned to normal: "He has something to do at work."
Are you angry?
Yan Qing checked the earliest flight from Yuncheng to Haicheng, but it had already taken off. There wasn't even a direct flight. She wanted to find Zhou Mingshu, but she put her phone down again.
The flight has a two-hour layover.
[Yan Qing]: Let’s have breakfast together in the morning.
The second message was sent an hour later, just as the plane took off.
He could guess the gossipy look in his boss's eyes at that time.
[Yan Qing]: The boss said you left?
[Ming Xu]: I have something urgent to do, so I will go back first and wait for you to come back.
Yan Qing wanted to leave before the trip to Yuncheng was halfway through, but a rainstorm stopped her. The rain was getting heavier and heavier, and water began to fill the lobby of the B&B.
Many guests were stopped by the rain. After two days, everyone lost their patience and some became unreasonable and started to cause trouble for the B&B.
"It's been three days, and you rushed me to the airport, delaying my business. Do you know how much I will lose?" The man who spoke put his hands on his hips, raised his head, puffed his beard and glared, his tone full of arrogance.
Listening to the sound of rain, Liya could only try her best to comfort everyone: "The highway has been closed, and all flights to the airport have been suspended. You can't fly to the airport now. Don't worry, everyone. If you can leave, we will definitely send you there as soon as possible."
Before the leaders could say anything, the boss shouted loudly that it was time to eat.
The hall, which was crowded just now, was now only occupied by Ling Qing and a few others.
To make up for it, the restaurant had a barbecue buffet today. Yan Qing picked up a few pieces and sat in the corner watching the news.
She hasn't been in touch with Mingxu for two days.
During this period, Zhou Mingshu sent some team-building pictures from time to time. The three-day team-building had ended, and only a few people were left who did not have to go to work. No one wanted to go back, so they hit it off and started a second small team-building at their own expense, but moved it from Haicheng to Nancheng.
Should he go back to the B&B?
Ming Xu returned to Haicheng and went straight to the restaurant. There was a problem with the management, and he had to come back in person to solve it.
The office was packed with heads of various departments. She sat in the boss's chair, staring at the dejected crowd in front of her for a few seconds, and said in a cold tone: "Who goes first?"
Everyone looked at each other, and no one wanted to be the first to stand out.
"Zhang Xin, please come and call the roll."
It's like the King of Hell's Book of Life and Death.
The first person to be called lowered his head and closed his eyes, waiting to be scolded, but was told that he could leave. The moment the office door closed, his legs went weak. Seeing this, the people waiting outside immediately went up to support him.
"I thought I was diligent and had done nothing, but when I saw the boss, I couldn't help but tremble."
Seeing that some people had left, more people began to stand up one after another.
Zhang Xin looked at the names on the list and divided the remaining people into two groups. Ming Xu pointed to the people on the left and said, as if chatting normally, "The rest of you can go."
The people who were released breathed a sigh of relief after they went out, and stood at the door talking to each other, hoping to get some useful information.
As they were talking, the door opened. Everyone turned around and saw the boss staring at them, and hurriedly trotted away.
Zhang Xin closed the door and got off the elevator with everyone.
"Assistant Zhang, what happened?" The person who spoke was a veteran of the restaurant and also an old friend of Mingxu's father. He couldn't hide his worry on his face, but he didn't dare to ask Mingxu directly.
Hearing this, everyone else in the elevator pricked up their ears, waiting for Zhang Xin's answer.
"I don't know."
Someone retorted: "You're the boss's assistant, how could you not know? Tell us about it. If anything really happens, we can all help you out."
"yes."
The elder who spoke first fell silent at this moment.
Zhang Xin stood straight, his tone unquestionable: "If you really want to know, go ask the boss. I'm only responsible for what the boss tells me to do, and I don't know anything else."
In the office, the people who stayed behind were waiting for the boss's storm, but they only waited until they heard Mingxu leaving.
Gradually, some people relaxed: "What is the boss doing? He left us here and went away?"
"Stop talking now, in case the boss comes back and hears."
"This is bombing us," the man said, unconcerned. "I've already submitted my resignation letter. I'll be leaving in five days."
When these words were spoken, everyone else was stunned.
"You didn't really do anything, did you?"
The man was unscrupulous but kept his mouth shut.
A moment later, the door opened. Looking back, it wasn't Ming Xu who came in. Zhang Xin scanned the area and found only the person who had just resigned.
The lights outside were already on.
The rain in Yuncheng has subsided and flights are gradually resuming. Zhou Mingshu sent a message asking Yan Qing when he would return.
[Yan Qing]: I have to go back to Yuancheng first to attend my sister's wedding.
The next day, Yuancheng was among the routes that were restored. Yan Qing called a taxi and said goodbye to Liya.
Liya forced a bunch of local specialties on her: "Your friend left in a hurry, you two can go back and eat together."
When the plane landed, Yan Qing saw his parents at the airport.
Seeing her daughter return, Yan's mother couldn't help but scold her: "You ran off to Yuncheng without saying a word. You didn't tell us. Are you afraid that we would let you go back?"
Father Yan was playing the role of peacemaker: "Xixi is afraid that we will worry. Now that she is back, she will stay at home for a while."
Mother Yan glared at the father and daughter and said, "You two are the only ones singing the same tune."
When I got home, the food was already prepared, and the table was full of Yan Qing's favorite dishes.
Sister Yan Xiang's wedding was in another city, and they planned to drive there early the next morning.
That night, Yan Qing took a picture of the scenery outside the window.
When Mingxu saw the photo, it was already the next day and he was in Mingli's car.
Noticing his brother was in a daze, Mingli shook him with his hand: "What are you thinking about?"
"nothing."
Mingli obviously didn't believe it: "You haven't been dumped by someone, have you?"
Seeing his brother's indifference, Mingli felt that the fun was gone and began to pass on some of his own experience to him: "When pursuing a girl, you have to be relaxed and moderate. You can't be cold and violent, but don't be too enthusiastic either."
Ming Xu glanced sideways: "Have you ever chased a girl?"
He didn't believe that someone whose mind was full of computer games would know how to chase someone.
"Ming Xu!"
This confirms Ming Xu's conjecture.
Yuancheng is a two-hour drive from the city where Yan Xiang is getting married. Early in the morning, the family of three set off on time.
The last time I came back was during the Chinese New Year last year, and my hometown has changed a lot.
Yan's mother sat in the passenger seat, leaning sideways to talk to her daughter: "I've discussed it with your father. You're not a child anymore. Why don't you settle down in Haicheng? We'll buy you a house and a car."
"Let's talk about it later."
Without rejection, there is room for maneuver. Yan's mother knew her daughter's temper very well and didn't say anything more.
When we arrived at my sister's house, there were already a lot of people in the yard, and everyone was busy.
Yan Qing didn't like interacting with people since he was a child, and his relationship with his brothers and sisters was average. It was not until he went to college that he suddenly became close to them.
Yan Xiang saw Yan Qing on the second floor and excitedly called her upstairs.
"I was worried that you wouldn't be able to make it back." Looking at her sister whom she hadn't seen for many years, Yan Xiang suddenly felt a pang of sadness in her heart.
Yan Qing took out the gift she had prepared and said, "Happy wedding."
It is a set of exquisite dressing tools.
After the two exchanged pleasantries for a while, Yan Qing was assigned a task. The person with her was a boy, who should be someone who came to help from her brother-in-law.
[Ming Dynasty Preface]: (Picture)
[Ming Xu]: What are you busy with?
[Yan Qing]: (Picture)
Ming Xu looked at the person squatting on the ground in the photo, stood up and walked out of the living room. Seeing this, Ming's mother and eldest son looked at each other and quietly followed him.
The phone rang.
Ming Xu: "Whose wedding?"
The other end was stunned for a few seconds before speaking: "Xixi is busy. If you have anything to say, you can tell me and I will convey it for you."
Mingxu didn't say anything and hung up the phone.
Yan Qing stared at the timid boy in front of her, walked away with her phone in silence, and when she saw him leave, the people next to her came over.
The boy who had just answered the phone without permission still looked aggrieved: "You really don't know what's good for you."
The person next to him comforted him: "Okay, it won't be good for anyone if we make a big fuss."
The conversation between the two was told to Yan Xiang. Yan Xiang asked around and found out that the person was a friend of her husband's friend who came to join in the fun. After learning about this, the friend had already persuaded the person to leave.
Yan Qing changed her job and her partner was her sister's best friend.
"Xixi, come here for a moment."
When they arrived at a small room, her sister and brother-in-law looked apologetic. It was the first time Yan Qing met her sister's boyfriend, and she guessed what they wanted to see her for.
"Xixi, I've already had that man taken away. I'm here to apologize to you on his behalf. Don't worry, you'll never see him again. Also, tell your friends that if you have the chance to come to our place, brother-in-law will treat you to a meal."
I heard from my mother that my brother-in-law is a very good person.
The wedding was busy and they couldn't take care of many things. Yan Qing understood: "It's okay, go ahead and do your work."
[Yan Qing]: I don’t know how that person got the phone. I don’t know him. My sister and brother-in-law have already resolved the matter. Let me tell you something.
Seeing the message sent by Yan Qing, Ming Xu, who had been gloomy just now, suddenly became energetic.
Mingli, who was sitting next to his brother playing games, saw his brother's appearance and understood everything.
