Chapter 141 Moving into the Prefectural Government Office

Chunyao waded through the water to find Ye Yunniang.

Jin Yu Man Tang, Ye Yunniang had been there. The backyard wasn't very big. It was barely enough for Chun Yao's family of four.

Ye Yunniang thanked Chunyao for her kindness but politely declined.

“Yunniang, don’t rush to refuse. Think it over carefully. If the rain continues for another two days, the sandbags won’t be able to hold back the mud. Think of the children, not just yourself,” Chunyao advised Ye Yunniang.

"We'll see when the time comes." Ye Yunniang thought it over and decided to go to the small courtyard that Jiang Mingzhe had left behind. The courtyard had a building where they could stay.

Chunyao thought that Jiang Mingzhe might have other plans, so she stopped trying to persuade him.

Ye Yunniang was considering whether to move to the small courtyard, and Cai Damei told her about her decision.

"We will go to live in the prefectural government office."

"Mother, we can still hold on a little longer." Ye Yunniang felt that things hadn't reached that point yet.

"Even if the water floods the house, we still have to go. The sooner we go, the less the children will suffer." Once Cai Damei made her decision, it was not to be changed.

Ye Yunniang packed her things.

The grain from the cellar must be taken, along with clothes, shoes, and socks. Anything that can't be taken should be moved to higher ground.

After packing their belongings, Luo Xin arranged for a carriage to take the Li family to the prefectural government.

The rain was heavy, and no one noticed that the Li family had left.

The prefectural government was very large.

A family of six lived in a large courtyard.

Cai Damei and Bao Shuyi did not stay with Bao Min.

Bao Min returned briefly on the day they were appointed prefect, and then left in a hurry.

With severe flooding, he, as the local official in charge of the city, is very busy every day.

The children were curious about the prefectural government and explored it from all angles.

Ye Yunniang and Cai Damei quickly stopped the activity, forbidding anyone from running around.

Although the children were exploring under the corridor, the rain was heavy and the wind was blowing, so they got all wet and almost ran out of clothes.

Ye Yunniang spends most of her day drying clothes for her children.

The news that female relatives had moved into the prefectural government quickly spread among the upper-class officials in Jiangcheng.

The reactions varied from person to person.

Most people were curious; the women that the smiling fox Bao Min had hidden were finally going to show their faces.

A small number of people who had other ideas about Bao Min were unhappy.

Xing Jinxiu reacted the most strongly.

Given Xing Jinxiu's background, it will be difficult for her to find a suitable husband who can withstand pressure from her in-laws.

Bao Min's arrival brought hope to Xing Jinxiu.

Xing Jinxiu sought opportunities to meet Bao Min, trying to win his favor.

Three years have passed, and there has been no progress. What makes Xing Jinxiu feel a little better is that Bao Min is polite but distant to all the girls.

Later, Xing Jinxiu received some upsetting news: Bao Min had a daughter.

Bao Min has a daughter!

Xing Jinxiu felt angry, panicked, and resentful that she had no chance.

Two years have passed, and neither has Bao Min's daughter appeared in public, nor has the woman who bore him her daughter.

Xing Jinxiu was overjoyed, thinking that the vile woman must have used some despicable method to have the child.

Bao Min disliked the mother and daughter, which is why he wouldn't let them into his residence; he still had a chance.

But why are they entering the mansion now?

Snap snap snap...

Xing Jinxiu smashed a pile of porcelain on the floor, then calmed down. She went to the study to find her elder brother, Xing Wenzhi.

"Brother, have you found out who that slut is?"

Xing Wenzhi dotes on his younger sister and went to investigate as soon as he received the news.

The prefectural government is very strict, and they haven't been able to find out Ye Yunniang's and the others' identities yet.

"Brother, help me. I must get Bao Min." Xing Jinxiu was unwilling to accept her years of hard work.

"Okay." Xing Wenzhi agreed without hesitation.

Unaware that someone was plotting against her, Cai Damei was currently drying her clothes and shoes on a stove.

It was raining, and the four children were disobedient, running outside to play and getting completely soaked.

Ye Yunniang brought over ginger soup.

The four children all frowned at the smell of ginger.

"One bowl per person, drink ginger soup."

Li Pan and the other two were older. They frowned, picked up the bowl, drank the water, and rinsed their mouths.

"Sister-in-law, Shushu doesn't want to drink it." Bao Shuyi pinched her nose, not wanting to smell the ginger.

Ye Yunniang brought a bowl to Bao Shuyi and said, "Shushu, drink the ginger soup. You won't get sick."

Bao Shuyi frowned and shook her head; she didn't want to drink it.

"Ginger soup or acupuncture?" Cai Damei asked in a calm tone, words that made Bao Shuyi tremble.

Thinking of the pain of needles, Bao Shuyi pouted and drank the ginger soup.

After finishing it, she looked at Ye Yunniang with teary eyes, "Spicy~"

"Drinking sugar water will make it less spicy." Ye Yunniang picked up another bowl and fed Bao Shuyi.

Because of Cai Damei's words, Bao Shuyi threw a tantrum and wanted to sleep with Ye Yunniang that night.

Ye Yunniang slept with her, but in the middle of the night, she felt something was wrong.

I opened my eyes, touched the book cover, and felt my whole body burning up.

"Luo Xin..." Ye Yunniang got up and went out.

"Madam Ye." Luo Xin emerged from the shadows.

"Shushu has a fever, quickly go and get a doctor."

Luo Xin ran outside.

Cai Damei opened the door to the room. "What's wrong with Shushu?"

"Mother, Shushu has a fever." Ye Yunniang said as she helped Cai Damei up, and when she touched her, she was also burning up.

"Mother, you have a fever too!"

"Mother, who's feeling hot?" Li Pan and the other two woke up.

"Grandma and Aunt both have fevers. The three of you take care of Grandma, and I'll go take care of Aunt," Ye Yunniang instructed the three.

They weren't used to being waited on, and the courtyard hadn't arranged for any servants to be assigned to them, so there were only a few of them here.

Ye Yunniang had to take care of Bao Shuyi, so she left the feverish Cai Damei in the care of the three children.

The three agreed and helped Cai Damei, who wanted to see Bao Shuyi, back into the house.

Ye Yunniang brought water into the room, and Bao Shuyi whimpered, "Mother, I feel unwell, I'm scared, scared..."
