Xu Erlei then realized that the red ribbon he had picked up might have belonged to Shushu.
I found it when I got home and wanted to return it to the book.
As I stepped out of my house, I ran into Ye Yunniang, who was returning home in a horse-drawn carriage.
"That's all I know," Xu Erlei said, then hid behind Granny Xu.
"Erlei, thank you for telling me all this." After thanking her, Ye Yunniang turned and ran towards the alley entrance.
Jiang Mingzhe nodded to Granny Xu and followed Ye Yunniang away.
"Grandma Xu, have you seen my mother?" The three Li brothers came out.
“They went to the abandoned house by the river,” Xu Erlei said first, telling them where Ye Yunniang had gone.
"Where is my mother going to do?" Li Pan asked, looking at Granny Xu with a puzzled expression.
“I’m not lying to you. Aunt really went to the abandoned house.” Xu Erlei was dissatisfied that Li Pan didn’t believe him.
“You’ve lied to us many times before.” Li An felt it was normal for them to suspect Xu Erlei of lying.
"Grandma Xu, do you know what my mother went to the abandoned house for?" Li Ping asked Granny Xu.
"Erlei found Shushu's red ribbon over there," Granny Xu explained.
Ang Lee wanted to say something, but Li Ping stopped him.
"Thank you for letting us know, Grandma Xu and Brother Erlei. Let's go find Mom." Li Ping and Li Pan pulled Li An away.
"I didn't lie. Why don't they believe me?" Xu Erlei was distressed.
Grandma Xu patted Xu Erlei's head and said, "Erlei, don't lie in the future. Grandma believes that everyone will believe you."
Xu Erlei pouted and hummed in agreement.
Ye Yunniang and Jiang Mingzhe arrived at the abandoned house that Xu Erlei had mentioned.
The abandoned house and the Zhou family's house are in opposite directions.
What is Cai Damei doing here with Shushu?
Ye Yunniang was puzzled and wanted to go in, but Jiang Mingzhe stopped her.
"Don't disturb the scene. Let's go in when the officials arrive."
"Are we just going to wait here?" Ye Yunniang stamped her foot anxiously.
"Let's look around and see if we find anything."
"Okay." Ye Yunniang looked around and found a small path on the side, so she started to walk towards it.
"Mother!" Li Pan and the other two ran over.
"Mom, what are you doing here? Where are Grandma and Auntie?"
"They've disappeared, we don't know where they went?"
Ye Yunniang did not hide anything and told the whole story.
"Let's search together." Li Pan and the other two also wanted to help.
Li Pan and Li An accompanied Ye Yunniang, while Jiang Mingzhe and Li Ping walked around the wall from both sides.
"Mother, we will definitely find Grandma and Auntie," Li Pan reassured the anxious Ye Yunniang.
It's too early to say anything without seeing the person.
"Mother, will Grandma take Auntie to see Master Bao?" Li An guessed.
"I've looked around, but I haven't found anything." Ye Yunniang looked around, hoping to find some useful clues.
"Who could it be? Grandma hasn't made any enemies." Li Pan couldn't figure it out.
"Could it be someone from the Xing family?" Li An voiced his guess.
Ye Yunniang suddenly realized that she had forgotten about the Xing family.
“Mother, look here.” Li An had made a new discovery.
Ye Yunniang walked over and saw a piece of scrap cloth.
There was also half a piece of orchid grass on the strip of cloth.
Ye Yunniang sewed all the clothes for the family members. She recognized them immediately as Cai Damei's cotton-padded jacket.
"Yunniang".
"mother."
Jiang Mingzhe carried Li Ping as they walked over.
"We didn't find anything here, Mother, what did you find over there?" Li Ping told the three of them the results of their patrol.
"We found the scraps of cloth. They belonged to Mother."
Since no evidence had been found before, Ye Yunniang had been holding onto the idea that Cai Damei might be alright.
The tattered cloth in her hand shattered all of Ye Yunniang's hopes.
“Bao Min has brought his men.” Jiang Mingzhe said, reaching out to take the strip of cloth.
Ye Yunniang did not let go, "I can do it."
With her mother gone, she was the pillar of the family.
Upon arriving at the gate of the abandoned house, Ye Yunniang handed the strip of cloth in her hand to Bao Min.
"From Mother's body."
Bao Min took it and asked where it was found.
The constables conducted a preliminary search and informed Bao Min.
Cai Damei and Shushu must have been captured by three people and left through the back door of the abandoned house in a carriage.
The road behind the abandoned house leads directly to North Street.
Upon reaching North Street, the area was crowded with carriages and pedestrians, and the trail went cold.
"Send more people to search," Bao Min ordered.
The constables responded and went to investigate.
What is Xing Jinxiu doing?
“My men are watching her. It’s not her.”
Bao Min was aware of Ye Yunniang's suspicions. His first suspicion was also about Xing Jinxiu.
The person sent to keep an eye on Xing Jinxiu reported that everything was normal.
In Ye Yunniang's view, Bao Min's answer was tantamount to covering up for someone.
Are you sure you've got your eye on Xing Jinxiu?
“I’m sure, her maids are keeping a close eye on her,” Bao Min replied confidently.
The maids are all being watched, but what about the old woman?
Ye Yunniang recalled what Tao Hong had said.
"The one selling you is an old woman with triangular eyes who looks at people in a sinister way."
"Have you been keeping an eye on the old woman with triangular eyes who's always with Xing Jinxiu?"
Bao Min looked at Luo Xin.
"Xing Jinxiu has no triangular-eyed old women around her."
"Impossible. It was that old woman with the triangular eyes, that creepy-looking look, who sold me to human traffickers. She's definitely Xing Jinxiu's confidante." Ye Yunniang was extremely annoyed; how could she have forgotten about this matter after being back for so long?
“My subordinate has neglected his duty; I’ll investigate immediately.” Luo Xin turned and led his men to investigate.
"It's getting late, you should take the children back first." Bao Min knew how much Cai Damei cared about Ye Yunniang and Li Pan.
Ye Yunniang didn't want to leave, but seeing the children yawning involuntarily...
