Chapter 219 It's her

Chonglou and Lingyu placed Kongqing and Dongzhi into the carriage respectively.

Ang Lee entered the carriage, took out a packet of powder from his medicine box, and sprinkled it on the three of them.

Soon, the smell of blood inside the car disappeared.

The horse-drawn carriage stopped at the back gate of the cloth shop.

Li An alighted from the carriage and instructed Chonglou to move Kongqing to his room. Dongzhi was to be moved to Chonglou and Lingyu's rooms and kept watch.

Li An selected the herbs Kong Qing needed from the medicinal materials he had brought, brewed the medicine, and fed it to Kong Qing.

As for the Winter Solstice, to avoid attracting attention, Li An took the Sleeping Powder and had Chonglou give it to the Winter Solstice.

After a night of care, Kong Qing woke up in the morning.

"Second Master." Kong Qing tried to get up, but Li An stopped her.

"You're seriously injured, get some rest."

"I'm fine." Kong Qing struggled to get up.

“If you acknowledge me as your second master, then kneel down before me.” Li An said sternly.

"Yes." Kong Qing lay down and stopped moving.

Li Ancai was satisfied, so he went to find Zhang Ronggui, the manager of the cloth shop, to ask him if he knew about Yingmeng.

Zhang Ronggui's expression changed upon hearing "Yingmeng".

"Second Master, you mustn't get involved in Yingmeng's matter. There's a lot more to it than meets the eye," Zhang Ronggui advised Li An.

Who is selling dreams of the nightingale?

"Second Master, please don't ask anymore. After watching the Flower King competition, leave as soon as possible." After saying this, Zhang Ronggui got up and got busy.

Zhang Ronggui's evasive attitude made Ang Lee even more determined to find out what was going on.

Giving up easily is not Ang Lee's style.

Since Zhang Ronggui wouldn't say, Ang Lee thought he'd ask other people.

Chonglou rushed into the room, "Second Master, the stall has been smashed."

"who?"

"Street thug, Snake Eight. He said we didn't pay protection money when we set up our stall."

"They've been setting up their stall for three days and no one's interested. They started causing trouble as soon as they opened yesterday." Li An chuckled. "Take me to see Snake Eight."

"I have brought Snake Eight with me."

Chonglou went out and, as if picking up a chick, carried Sheba into the house and threw him on the ground.

Snake 8 landed and bounced once.

Snake Eight took two steps back to avoid Chonglou.

"What are you going to do? Murder is punishable by death." Snake Eight's voice trembled, and his whole body shook.

“Guests are welcome. Please have a seat,” Li An said.

"I don't know what you're asking. I'm just a small-time hoodlum." Snake Eight was quite self-aware.

"You don't know? If you don't know, then why are you smashing my stall?"

Snake Eight thought for a moment and decided to smash up a small stall after collecting money yesterday.

"I remember now."

"I didn't know, that was Young Master's stall. I was wrong. Young Master, please forgive me this time." Snake Eight was both flexible and resilient.

“I’ve been a narrow-minded person since I was a child. Even my own father would be rendered mute by poisoning him if he offended me.”

Upon hearing this, Snake Eight was no longer willing to let things go peacefully. "What does the young master want?"

"Who ordered you to smash my stall?" Ang Lee wanted to know who was behind it all.

"There was no one else." Snake Eight denied being instructed.

I don't believe it.

Snake Eight clenched his fist. "Snake Eight has been on the streets for over ten years. Everyone knows I speak with my fists."

After saying that, Snake Eight suddenly threw a punch at Li An.

With a click.

"ah--"

Snake Eight fell to the ground and yelled, his left hand gripping his abnormally bent right hand.

The shouts of Snake Eight did not soften Chonglou's heart, and he stomped hard on Snake Eight's foot.

"Ah—let go, let go, my foot, let go," Snake Eight slapped Chonglou's foot with his left hand.

The Paris polyphylla remained completely still.

Ang Lee sat and watched without saying a word to stop the show.

"I'll talk, I'll talk," Snake Eight couldn't take it anymore and begged for mercy.

"Chonglou".

Li An spoke, and Chonglou released She Ba.

Snake Eight slumped to the ground, his eyes filled with fear as he looked at Li An.

Ang Lee showed no sympathy whatsoever; instead, he watched with great interest as the man was beaten.

"I don't know who that person is."

"Chonglou".

"I really don't know who he is. He just threw a piece of paper wrapped with silver into my arms and told me to throw money at his stall," Snake Eight said urgently, stating what he knew.

"That's all I know. I'm not lying to you. The silver and the note are in my purse."

Snake Eight used his good left hand to forcefully pull the money bag at his waist.

The more anxious you are, the harder it is to break free.

Chonglou reached out and opened the money pouch, taking out a slip of paper.

Ang Lee took it; there was only one sentence on it.

Smashing up new stalls on street corners, the reward is money.

"I don't know who it was that told you to smash things and then did it."

"The silver is real." That's enough for Snake Eight. All other grudges and affections are unimportant.

Ang Lee agrees with this statement.

"Send him to the authorities for prosecution." Li An returned to his room with the note.

Inside the room, Kong Qing was trying to get out of bed.

Ang Lee squinted.

Kong Qing quickly lay down. "Second Master, I'm just a little thirsty."

Thirsty?

"Yes, I'd like a drink of water," Kong Qing replied.

Li An regained his composure and poured water for Kong Qing.

"Here, have some water."

"Thank you, Second Master." Kong Qing accepted the drink with both hands and finished it in one gulp.

Ang Lee took the cup, poured another one, and handed it to Kong Qing.

After drinking four cups in a row, Kong Qing couldn't hold on any longer.

"Second Master, I was wrong."

"What's wrong?"

"I shouldn't have lied to Second Master, I shouldn't have disobeyed Second Master's instructions, and I shouldn't have tried to get out of bed. I should have stayed in bed and recuperated."

Kong Qing knows what she should and shouldn't do.

"Second Master, I'm worried,"

What are you worried about?

“The people who attacked us will come again. I’m worried about Second Master,” Kong Qing declared, expressing his loyalty.

"If you're really worried, then just stay in bed and rest."

"Only when your injuries heal can you protect me. In your current state, is it you who protects me, or me who protects you?" Li An's words made Kong Qing lower his head.
