Chapter 38 Poison Oath

Hongxing was beaten with a cane and taken out to be sold.

Hongxing is easy to deal with, but the people behind her are not.

Hongxing was a maidservant who swept and cleaned in Zhenxia Courtyard.

Bai Xiuxiu cried out that she was innocent, saying that she had kindly lent her maid to help in the garden, but instead, she was being framed.

The maids in Zhenxia Courtyard have been getting into trouble one after another, and most people in the mansion think that Bai Xiuxiu is responsible. Or perhaps it's because she mismanaged them as their mistress.

Bai Xiuxiu's reputation is even worse.

Madam Jiang was already dissatisfied with Master Jiang's favoritism towards Concubine Xue, and disliked her son even more. She seized this opportunity to demand that Master Jiang expel the third wife from the mansion.

Consort Xue, having been favored for many years, was not without connections in the household. She quickly discovered that Hongxing and Hongyin of Fanghua Courtyard were cousins. She had visited Hongyin twice before the incident.

Aunt Xue insisted that the fourth branch of the Jiang family had used this as a pretext to harm the third branch. Aunt Xue wept bitterly in front of Old Master Jiang.

Madam Jiang's plan to send the third branch of the family to the estate failed.

The hot-tempered Bai Xiuxiu stormed into Fanghua Courtyard, shouting loudly as soon as she entered.

"Jin Huifang, hand me over. You've done these underhanded things, but you don't have the guts to admit it..."

Bai Xiuxiu's actions frightened the maids and servants serving in Fanghua Courtyard, who all gave way.

While Madam Jiang Si, Jin Huifang, was cultivating her relationship with Jiang Tingjun inside the house, Bai Xiuxiu's cursing voice could be heard from outside.

Jin Huifang looked nervously at Jiang Tingjun.

Jiang Tingjun was looking at his new toy, a wooden dragon-carved boat. The boatmen on the boat could move back and forth.

Jiang Ting was having so much fun that he didn't pay any attention to the noise outside.

"Take Jun back to the small courtyard. Lock the door, and don't open it unless I call you," Jin Huifang instructed Ye Yunniang and Hongcai.

Ye Yunniang responded and stepped forward to pick up Jiang Tingjun.

Jiang Tingjun was still a little unwilling and reached out to Jin Huifang, wanting her to hug him.

“Be a good boy, go back to your room with your wet nurse. I’ll come see you in a bit,” Jin Huifang said, winking at him.

Ye Yunniang quickly carried Jiang Tingjun to the small courtyard, ignoring Bai Xiuxiu's cursing from inside. Back in the courtyard, Hongcai relayed Jin Huifang's instructions.

The old woman guarding the gate immediately locked it.

Ye Yunniang carried Jiang Tingjun into the inner room. Even from a distance, the sounds from Fanghua Courtyard could still be faintly heard.

On the other side, Jin Huifang straightened her clothes, leisurely got up, and walked to the door. Looking at Bai Xiuxiu's furious appearance, the corners of her mouth slightly turned up, revealing a barely perceptible cold smile.

"Hey, Third Sister-in-law. What's wrong with you, running around causing trouble at my Fanghua Courtyard?" Jin Huifang said slowly, her tone full of sarcasm.

Upon hearing this, Bai Xiuxiu flew into a rage and pointed at Jin Huifang's nose, yelling, "Jin Huifang, stop pretending! You instructed the maids in your courtyard to scheme against me behind my back. You must give me an explanation today!"

Jin Huifang showed no sign of panic at being exposed. With her arms crossed, she said with great contempt, "Bai Xiuxiu, I call you 'Third Sister-in-law' out of respect for my sister-in-law. You're slandering me, so don't blame me for being ruthless."

"You accuse me of instructing the maid to frame you, where's the evidence? Making trouble without any proof is just making a fool of yourself; aren't you afraid of becoming a laughingstock?"

"Evidence? Hongxing has already confessed that it was your Fanghua Academy people who were behind it. Do you still want to deny it?"

Jin Huifang chuckled twice in response to Bai Xiuxiu's shouting.

"Can you believe what a thief says? I, Jin Huifang, have been married into the Jiang family for more than just a year or two. It's been five years. Everyone knows what kind of person I am."

"We've always been straightforward and direct. If I'm unhappy with you, Bai Xiuxiu, I've always retaliated directly. You secretly had someone steal the jade hairpin to frame me." Jin Huifang smiled disdainfully; she disdained such underhanded tactics.

"If you want me to believe you didn't do it, fine. Swear a solemn oath to your son. You didn't do it, or your son won't live past this month."

Bai Xiuxiu's words instantly enraged Jin Huifang. "Damn it, you think I'm a pushover just because I haven't shown my true colors? You dare to curse my son? I'll take your life!"
