Back at Zhiyuxuan, Li'er stood guard at the door.
"Sister, you're finally back." Li'er quickly walked a few steps forward and helped Ye Yunniang up.
"Li'er, I want to sleep for a while." Ye Yunniang was very sleepy after a day's journey.
“Okay, I’ll help you to rest, sister.” Pear helped Ye Yunniang back to her room to rest.
After thanking Li'er, Ye Yunniang fell into a deep sleep.
When I woke up, a day had already passed.
While eating the dinner that Li'er brought, I listened to Li'er tell me about what happened on the day of the Dragon Boat Festival.
After exchanging pleasantries with others, Jin Huifang thought of her son and returned to her family's decorated shed, but she didn't see him.
She asked Zhuang Meixue, who was sitting in the shed, "Second Sister-in-law, where is Jun'er?" Before she walked over, Jiang Tingjun was being held in Zhuang Meixue's arms.
“Jun’er is sleepy, so I asked Aunt Jinlan to escort him back,” Zhuang Meixue explained.
"Tired?" Jin Huifang asked in confusion. Usually at this time, that boy likes to be lively, so why would he be sleepy?
"Huifang, look at Fourth Brother's dragon boat!" Following Zhuang Meixue's finger, Jin Huifang looked into the river.
Jiang Mingrui shed his glamorous and expensive clothes, revealing a short, sleeveless jacket that exposed his muscular arms as he rowed vigorously. He exuded a strong sense of masculinity.
Jin Huifang was instantly captivated, cheering for her husband and forgetting about her son.
Upon returning to the Jiang residence, she remembered Jiang Tingjun and went to the small courtyard.
The answer was that Jiang Tingjun had not returned.
Aunt Jinlan, wet nurse Taohong, Hongluo, and Hongyin, who took care of Jiang Tingjun today, did not return.
Jin Huifang had a bad feeling. "Go find them quickly!"
Jiang Mingrui personally led a search party and brought back the bodies of Tao Hong and Hong Luo. There was also news that 7 or 8 children and girls had gone missing from Jiangcheng Prefecture.
When the result she least expected came, Jin Huifang's body went limp and she fainted.
Upon waking, Jin Huifang immediately went to look for the child. Jiang Mingzhe sent word back that his men had unexpectedly encountered a child resembling Jiang Tingjun in the arms of a stranger and had already sent men to pursue him, warning the Jiang family not to act rashly. He would bring the child back.
This wait lasted four days.
For Jin Huifang, those four days felt like an eternity.
Upon receiving the news, they set off immediately to pick up Jiang Tingjun.
"Sister, thankfully you weren't the one taking care of the young master on Dragon Boat Festival." Li'er was relieved for Ye Yunniang.
Ye Yunniang didn't know whether to feel fortunate or not. Although she hadn't been able to hold the young master, she had still been captured by human traffickers.
Pear leaned closer to Ye Yunniang, "There's another good news."
"What good news?"
"Aunt Jinlan was brought back on the sixth day. After she returned, she was beaten with a board and driven away by the madam."
"Why?" Ye Yunniang asked in surprise. Aunt Jinlan was sent by the Jin family specifically to take care of the children.
"I heard she took something she shouldn't have." Pear didn't know exactly what she took.
But the fact that Jin Huifang was so angry that she kicked him out is probably related to Jiang Tingjun's matter.
Jiang Tingjun's capture by human traffickers wasn't an accident; someone in the manor wanted him to disappear. Who could it be?
"What is your sister thinking about?"
"It's nothing," Ye Yunniang said, not revealing her guess.
After finishing her meal, Ye Yunniang lay down to rest again; traveling by car was really tiring.
In the middle of the night, Hongcai ran to Zhiyuxuan.
"Nanny Ye, the young master is crying incessantly, and the madam wants you to take care of him."
Ye Yunniang got dressed and went to Fanghua Courtyard.
Before even entering the house, I could hear Jiang Tingjun crying loudly from across the street.
Inside the house, Jin Huifang hugged and comforted Jiang Tingjun with heartache, "Son, don't cry. Your crying breaks my heart."
Jiang Tingjun cried for quite a while, and his voice became somewhat hoarse.
Ye Yunniang came in, and Jin Huifang handed Jiang Tingjun to her, saying, "Quickly, comfort Jun'er."
Jiang Tingjun hugged Ye Yunniang, and smelling her familiar scent, he stopped crying.
Ye Yunniang coaxed Jiang Tingjun to sleep and then put him down.
Jiang Tingjun immediately opened his eyes and opened his mouth to cry.
"Don't cry, little master. Your wet nurse will pick you up right now. I'll hold you while you sleep and won't let go, okay?" Ye Yunniang said, picking up Jiang Tingjun and humming a lullaby softly.
Ye Yunniang felt puzzled.
In the small courtyard, Jiang Tingjun did not cry all night.
The image of Jiang Mingzhe skillfully holding the child flashed through my mind. Was it him who comforted the child at night?
Thinking of this, Ye Yunniang's anger towards Jiang Mingzhe lessened considerably.
Jin Huifang breathed a sigh of relief when her son stopped crying and fell asleep peacefully. She then turned around and punched Jiang Mingrui hard.
"Jiang Mingrui, this isn't over. I won't let Zhuang Meixue get away with this." Jin Huifang didn't even want to call her "Second Sister-in-law" anymore.
"It's my fault for being useless; I couldn't protect you and your son." Jiang Mingrui felt very guilty, and he also wanted Zhuang Meixue, who had harmed his son, to pay the price. But his parents wouldn't allow it, and his elder brother, who was far away in the capital, would certainly not agree.
The Zhuang family behind Zhuang Meixue is someone the Jiang family cannot afford to offend and needs to curry favor with.
Even if Jiang Tingjun were to be unharmed, or even if something were to happen to him, the Jiang family would not allow Zhuang Meixue to be harmed.
"Look at Jun'er! Look what she's done to Jun'er!" Jin Huifang was furious; she was determined to avenge him. She then punched Jiang Mingrui forcefully to vent her anger.
Jiang Mingrui let Jin Huifang hit him, as it made him feel a little better.
Everyone in the room lowered their heads and remained silent, not daring to speak.
Ye Yunniang also lowered her head, not wanting to show the shock on her face.
How could it be her? Has she gone mad? How could she do such a thing?
"Master, Madam, the Second Master has arrived."
***
"Are you crazy? Jun'er is still a child, how could you do this?" Through the traffickers, Jiang Mingzhe discovered that Zhuang Meixue had bribed Jin Lan to arrange for the traffickers to kidnap Jiang Tingjun.
Jiang Mingzhe was puzzled. Why would someone do something like this?
"Crazy? Hahahaha..." Zhuang Meixue laughed so hard she almost fell over. "I am crazy, I've been crazy for a long time."
