Chapter 56 Contraceptive Soup

Granny Zhang lived a fairly comfortable life, the only thing that bothered her was her daughter, Zhang Qiaoya.

Zhang Qiaoya married Fang Xiaowen, the only son of the Fang family who lived in the neighboring Chaoxia Lane.

The Fang family initially married Zhang Qiaoya because they were interested in her as a wife who would give birth to three sons.

All three sons married and had sons one after another.

The Fang family thought that marrying Zhang Qiaoya would improve their family's fate of having only one son for six generations, but after five years of marriage, she did not conceive.

The Fang and Zhang families were extremely worried.

Last month, Zhang Qiaoya finally became pregnant, which made Zhang's mother-in-law so happy that she ran to the Fang family three times a day, bringing food and drinks, hoping that Zhang Qiaoya would give birth to a son.

Ever since Zhang Qiaoya was diagnosed with pregnancy, she has been experiencing morning sickness, vomiting everything she eats.

She was so thin she was barely recognizable as a human, and Granny Zhang was extremely worried.

Upon hearing that her daughter wanted to eat Cai Damei's side dishes, she quickly came to get them.

"Grandma Zhang is generous and open-minded, and easy to get along with."

After talking about courtyards number 5 and 6, Cai Damei then told Ye Yunniang about courtyards number 1 and 2 at the end of the alley.

The resident of courtyard number 1 is surnamed Ma. The man is called Ma Kouzi (meaning "Mr. Stingy"), because he's incredibly stingy. His wife, Niu Dajiao (meaning "Big Foot"), is a gossip who sits at the door every day, observing passersby and gossiping behind their backs.

Ma Kouzi and Niu Dajiao have two sons.

The eldest son inherited Ma the stingy's personality; he was incredibly miserly. His original name was Ma Liang, but everyone called him Little Stingy Ma.

Ma Xiaokou married a woman named Chunxing, who was both lazy and greedy.

The youngest son, Ma Hui, is a good-natured, hardworking man. He works as a waiter in a restaurant. Because of the negative reputation of his parents, brothers, and sisters-in-law, he is 23 years old and still unmarried.

Courtyard No. 2 is rented out, and three families, about ten people, live there. They argue every day about water, drying clothes, and cooking.

The thing the Ma family mother-in-law and daughter-in-law loved to do most was to peek over the wall and watch the arguments in courtyard number 2, and then embellish the stories and spread them around.

After finishing talking about the beginning of the alley, let's talk about the end.

Courtyard No. 7 is also rented out. Cai Damei paused at this point.

"Don't go near Courtyard No. 7."
