Chapter 78 A Gentleman's Pursuit

Cai Damei knew Ye Yunniang better than she knew herself. She could tell at a glance that Ye Yunniang was hiding something.

Knowing she couldn't fool Cai Damei, Ye Yunniang recounted what had happened.

Upon hearing this, Cai Damei realized that Ye Yunniang had gone through a miscarriage and urged her to go back and lie down.

Ye Yunniang obeyed and let Tong Mo help her leave.

Back in their room, Li Pan and Li An stood there, looking around fearfully.

The two were puzzled as to why their mother and grandmother were gone when they woke up.

"Pan'er, An'er."

"Mother!" The two children rushed towards Ye Yunniang.

Tong Mo stepped forward and stopped the two children.

Unable to hug her mother, Li Pan pushed Tong Mo hard, shouting, "Let go, you bad guy!"

Tong Mo was unharmed, but Li Pan lost her balance and fell backward, landing on the ground.

"Waaah..." Li Pan cried loudly, "Mommy, bad people hit me..."

"Little brat, be reasonable. I didn't hit you." Tong Mo was speechless; the child was talking nonsense.

Ang Lee pointed at Tong Mo and said, "Bad guy, bad person."

Ye Yunniang pushed Tong Mo away and reached out to hug the two children.

"My stomach isn't feeling well. Uncle Tongmo stopped you because he was afraid you'd bump into her," Ye Yunniang explained softly to the two of them. "It's wrong of you to blame him without asking him first."

Li An received a message from Ye Yunniang saying she wasn't feeling well.

"Lie down, lie down, lie down..." Li An pulled Ye Yunniang's hand and pointed towards the bed.

Li Pan also pulled Ye Yunniang's hand and led her to the bed.

Ye Yunniang let the two men pull her to the bed and lie down.

"Mother, rest. I'll take care of my younger brother." Li Pan's words brought tears to Ye Yunniang's eyes, and she reached out to stroke his head.

"Don't worry, Mom will be fine after a nap."

"Mother, go to sleep," Li Pan urged, and Li An nodded vigorously beside her.

"Alright, Mother will rest. But before that, you need to apologize to Uncle Tong Mo." Ye Yunniang turned the two little bodies so they could see Tong Mo.

“Say it, Uncle Tong Mo, I was wrong.”

Following Ye Yunniang's actions, the two children shouted in unison to Tong Mo, "Say it, Uncle Tong Mo, I was wrong/wrong."

Tong Mo snorted, "Uncle forgives you."

The two children turned around instantly and surrounded Ye Yunniang.

"Mom, we're good."

"good."

"Yes, you are both good children." Ye Yunniang patted their heads.

Glug glug...

Both children's stomachs were growling.

"I'll go get the food." Tong Mo had just been called "uncle" and was happy to go get the food.

After dinner, Ye Yunniang put the two children to bed.

After seven days of rest, Dr. Tong said that I could get out of bed and walk around.

Ye Yunniang took her two children to visit Cai Damei.

Cai Damei's forehead was wrapped in gauze, and it looked quite serious. The two children rushed over and showered her with concern.

Cai Damei hugged her two children, looking relieved that they were alright.

The three of them, grandfather, grandson, and granddaughter, shared a warm moment.

Tong Mo took the two children out to play, leaving the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law talking inside.

Cai Damei asked Ye Yunniang in detail, "What happened that day?"

Ye Yunniang told Cai Damei what had happened without hiding anything from her.

Cai Damei grasped Ye Yunniang's hand, "I shouldn't have trusted Li Wenkuo's family."

Recalling Aunt Guihua's attitude on the day she first returned, Cai Damei sighed, "You can know a person's face but not their heart."

"Mother, I'm all better now." Ye Yunniang relaxed and smiled freely.

"Mother, what happened on the mountain that day? How did you get so badly injured?" Ye Yunniang looked at Cai Damei's forehead with a face full of heartache.

When asked about what happened that day, Cai Damei coughed awkwardly.

Li Wu and Li Nan devised a plan to lock Cai Damei in a cave and then left.

Cai Damei immediately tore a corner of her clothes and threw it out, hoping that the people in Bao Min would see it and come to her rescue.

No one came after waiting for a long time.

Cai Damei felt a little uneasy, especially worried that something might have happened to Ye Yunniang.

You can't rely on outsiders, so you have to find a way to open the door yourself.

Cai Damei tried everything, but nothing worked; the door didn't respond at all. She was completely exhausted.

Cai Damei was in despair. Clutching the wolf-tooth necklace, she leaned against the door, waiting to die.

Thinking of Ye Yunniang and her two children.

She cannot give up.

If they couldn't get out through the door, they went into the cave to find a way out.

The cave wasn't large; it ended quickly, and there was nothing inside.

Unable to find a way out, Cai Damei returned to the cave entrance.

The cave entrance has been opened!

Bao Min stood at the door, smiling at her.

“Madam, you are safe.” Bao Min reached out to help Cai Damei out.

Cai Damei avoided Bao Min's hand and walked out on her own.

"Yunniang, what's wrong?" Cai Damei asked anxiously.

"With Tong Mo watching over her, she'll be fine."

As Ye Yunniang was stuffed into a box and jostled about in the carriage: ...

Upon hearing this, Cai Damei headed down the mountain to pick up her child.

Li Nan said that Li Wenkuo was not involved, but Cai Damei was still worried.

“The child is fine, someone is looking after him, don’t worry.” Bao Min blocked Cai Damei’s way.

Why aren't they picking up their children? What are they doing standing in this desolate wilderness?

"Madam, look, there's no one here. Let's continue discussing what we didn't finish talking about on the ship."

Cai Damei stared wide-eyed at Bao Min. Was this guy out of his mind? At such a crucial moment, he was thinking about all sorts of nonsense.

Cai Damei gripped the wolf fang necklace tightly. "Do you think now is the right time?"

“Madam, now is the perfect time,” Bao Min replied affirmatively.

Cai Damei no longer wanted to talk to Bao Min. She walked past Bao Min and headed down the mountain.

She doesn't want to talk to people with mental problems right now.

“Madam, don’t go.” Bao Min grabbed Cai Damei’s hand.
