Chapter 8 Clothing

Ye Yunniang shook her head; she didn't want to. She only wanted to nurse her young master well and earn more money to take home.

"Next time Nurse Ding comes to you, ask for more benefits and share some with me." Ye Yunniang specifically asked for benefits to reassure Li'er.

Ye Yunniang was joking, but Li'er was serious. "Okay."

Ye Yunniang was closer to Li'er, and privately called her "elder sister." She also privately discussed many things about the household with Ye Yunniang.

June passed and July arrived. Ye Yunniang and Li'er went to collect their monthly allowance.

"The Fifth Miss's marriage is settled. The Old Madam is so happy that she has decreed that all the servants in the manor will receive double their monthly wages," Li'er told Ye Yunniang what she had found out.

"The old lady is so kind and generous."

"The old lady's generosity is also due to the second master of the manor's ability to make money." Pear admires the second master of the Jiang family the most; he is a shrewd businessman who has made the Jiang family wealthy.

"I heard from Granny Shi that before Second Master took over the family business, the Jiang family wasn't this rich. It was Second Master who started doing business at the age of 13 and gradually made the Jiang family the richest family in Jiangcheng."

"Second Master is so amazing." Ye Yunniang admired people who knew how to make money.

As they talked, they arrived at Fanghua Courtyard.

The two stopped talking, lowered their heads, and walked in through the side door into the porch hall.

Coral settles the monthly wages of the servants at Fanghua Courtyard and Zhiyu Pavilion here.

"Nanny Ye, this is your monthly allowance." Shanhu calculated it, took out three silver coins and handed them to her, "You have taken good care of the young master, so the madam instructed that you be rewarded with an extra tael of silver."

"Taking care of the young master is my duty," Ye Yunniang said, not daring to take credit.

"Take this as a reward from Madam." Coral was satisfied with Ye Yunniang's attitude.

Pear also received her monthly allowance. As a maidservant, she received 300 coins a month, or 600 copper coins for two months.

After leaving the side hall, they had only taken a few steps when Li'er grabbed Ye Yunniang's hand, retreated to the corner of the wall, and lowered her head.

Ye Yunniang didn't ask any questions and followed Li'er's actions.

Out of the corner of her eye, Ye Yunniang saw legs approaching from afar. Judging from the shoes and clothing, it must be the male master of the mansion.

Once they were out of sight, Li'er let go of their hand. "Sister, let's go back."

Ye Yunniang did not ask who the male master was. The two left Fanghua Courtyard through the side door and returned to Zhiyu Pavilion.

"Li'er, you have such sharp eyes! You can see people from so far away." Ye Yunniang said admiringly.

"You'll get used to it after staying in the manor for a while," Li'er said, recalling her early days working there. She hadn't been paying attention and bumped into the Third Madam, getting a severe beating. Luckily, she survived. After that, she became extra careful about her surroundings.

Ye Yunniang thought of what Cai Damei had said: "People can't teach you everything, but you can learn something in a day."

“Our Pear is very lucky.”

"What brings great fortune?" Ding Fang asked as she walked over from the other side.

"Nanny Ding, Miss Coral is receiving her monthly allowance."

"Oh, it's time to get paid!" Ding Fang turned and walked quickly toward Fanghua Courtyard.

Ye Yunniang and Li'er exchanged a smile.

"Sister, go back to your room and rest first. I'll go to the main kitchen to get the food." Pear looked at the sun; it was lunchtime.

Ye Yunniang responded and returned to the house.

She opened the drawer of the dressing table, took out the money pouch inside, and put three silver coins inside.

After washing her hands, Ye Yunniang embroidered a qilin.

After embroidering for more than half a month, it is finally finished.

Ye Yunniang packed the clothes and handed them to Hongcai when she went to her shift.

"I've made a set of clothes for the young master. Could you please help me give it to Miss Ziyuan?"

Zi Yuan manages all the affairs in Jiang Tingjun's house, including what clothes he wears, which requires her approval.

"Sister Ye, please wait a moment. I'll go find Sister Ziyuan." Hongcai didn't take the call and turned to find Ziyuan.

So fast, Ye Yunniang didn't have time to speak.

Wanting to catch up, Jiang Tingjun let out a series of "ah ah ah" sounds.

Ye Yunniang returned to Jiang Tingjun's side.

Jiang Tingjun stared at the bundle in Ye Yunniang's hand.

Ye Yunniang put the bundle aside, picked up Jiang Tingjun, and teased him, "Young master, would you like to go for a walk?"

Jiang Tingjun, however, refused and reached out to grab the bundle.

Ye Yunniang pretended not to understand and continued to tease Jiang Tingjun, "Does young master want to look out the window?" As she spoke, she walked towards the window.

Jiang Tingjun turned his head and continued to stare at the bundle.

"If you're not looking out the window, what are you looking at? Young master, your wet nurse doesn't understand what you mean. Would you like to explain?"

Jiang Tingjun: ...o( ̄ヘ ̄o#) Bullying him because he doesn't talk

Jiang Tingjun pouted, on the verge of tears.

"Alright, alright, it's the wet nurse's fault. Come, let's look at the bundle." Ye Yunniang said, carrying Jiang Tingjun back to the bedside.

Zi Yuan then walked into the room.

Ye Yunniang, holding Jiang Tingjun, hesitated to bow properly. "Miss Ziyuan, I made a set of clothes for the young master. Do you think they fit?"

"Thank you so much, Nurse Ye." Zi Yuan opened the bundle.

The crescent-colored silk blouse was embroidered with light blue auspicious cloud patterns, while the trousers featured a lifelike kylin embroidered on them. In particular, one of the kylin's claws was outstretched, touching the clouds, which brought joy to the viewer.

"Ahhh!" Jiang Tingjun's eyes lit up as he looked at the little Qilin, and he kept moving his body toward the Qilin.

"Nanny Ye's needlework is really good, young master likes it." Zi Yuan smiled, her goodwill towards Nanny Ye increasing a little.

These fabrics were given to the wet nurses. Only Ye Yunniang put her heart into making a dress for the young master.

"I was able to work in the Jiang household thanks to the young master. I don't have any other skills, but this embroidery is the only thing I can do somewhat well." Ye Yunniang had been in the Jiang household for a month, and her words were a little more tactful than before.

Zi Yuan took the clothes and had Ye Yunniang follow her to the main room.

Madam Jiang looked at the clothes, then at her son's delighted eyes, and smiled.

“It’s a gesture of gratitude. Zijuan went into my jewelry box and picked out two hair ornaments to reward her.”

"Thank you, Madam." Ye Yunniang bowed.

Ye Yunniang's way of bowing was something she learned from Li'er, and it was neither proper nor proper.

Madam Jiang frowned. "Shanhu, the wet nurses also need to be taught the proper etiquette."

"It's my fault; I didn't teach them manners," Coral admitted.

Ye Yunniang carried the child away from the main room and returned to the side room, where Ziyuan arrived shortly afterward.

"This is a gift from the Madam." Ziyuan placed two pieces of jewelry on the table: a gold hairpin with jasmine flowers as a pendant and a hollowed-out orchid bead hairpin.

"Thank you for the gift, Madam," Ye Yunniang said again.

Zi Yuan frowned as she watched Ye Yunniang bow; the proper etiquette really needed to be practiced.

After that, Ye Yunniang and the other three lived a life of nursing the baby, learning manners, and resting.
