"No. It belongs to Wang Jinsheng."
Liang Hemiao is really bold.
"Does the Xing family know about this?"
"The Xing family doesn't know. Liang Hemiao went out with Xing Jinxiu and then met with Wang Jinsheng. Yang Guihua and Liang Maimiao were guarding the door."
"Could you let me know in advance if they're meeting again?" Ye Yunniang asked.
"Okay," Luo Xin agreed, without asking why Ye Yunniang needed to know these things.
"This is troublesome." Ye Yunniang said and turned to leave.
"Madam Ye," Luo Xin called out to Ye Yunniang.
Ye Yunniang stopped and waited for Luo Xin to speak.
"Madam Ye, my master has always wanted to marry a wife through proper channels."
"Yes." Ye Yunniang knew.
"Madam Ye, could you please try to persuade the lady?"
"I support all of my mother's decisions," Ye Yunniang said, and then left without lingering.
The following day, Ye Yunniang received the news.
A day later, Liang Hemiao was going out with Xing Jinxiu to Xiangji Teahouse to drink tea and watch opera.
Ye Yunniang carried her basket out of the house and headed towards the alley entrance.
We stopped at courtyard number 2. "Sister Chunyao, are you home?"
"I'm at home." Chunyao came out when she heard the voice.
Chunyao was wearing a hat, her face was covered with a cloth, and there was a spider web on her head.
"Sister Chunyao, are you cleaning the house?"
"If you have time today, clean the house." Chunyao is usually busy with the restaurant business and doesn't have time to tidy up the house.
"Let me help you." Ye Yunniang rolled up her sleeves and stepped forward to help.
"I've finished cleaning. Sit in the yard for a while and wait for me." Chunyao couldn't let Ye Yunniang clean, and insisted that Ye Yunniang wait aside.
Ye Yunniang sat down in the courtyard and glanced at the courtyard wall.
Chunyao quickly finished her work and brought out two cups of tea.
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting."
"I am sorry for coming uninvited and disturbing Sister Chunyao's work."
"Your coming will never bother me. Come and have some tea." Chunyao invited Ye Yunniang to drink tea.
Ye Yunniang asked for a cup of tea, explaining her purpose for coming.
"Sister Chunyao, there's something I might need to trouble you with."
"Just tell me what you need me to do." Chunyao was afraid that Ye Yunniang wouldn't bother her.
"Well, there is something about this," Ye Yunniang hesitated, unsure how to begin.
"Is it difficult?"
“It’s a difficult situation. After all, it’s between me and Mai Miao,” Ye Yunniang paused at this point.
"Is what you're talking about related to wheat seedlings?"
Ye Yunniang hummed in agreement and sighed. Her face showed hesitation; she didn't know what to say.
“There are no outsiders here.” Chunyao said, glancing towards Courtyard No. 1, where no one was eavesdropping. “You can speak freely.”
Ye Yunniang hesitated for a moment, then spoke.
“A few days ago when I went out, I saw Mai Miao and Wang Jinsheng talking.”
Chunyao didn't react at first, "Isn't what they're saying wrong?" Then she realized, "They're talking!"
"Um."
Where did you see it?
“A teahouse not far from Jin Yu Man Tang. They were standing very close together.” Ye Yunniang said in a low voice, “Sister Chunyao, did you see them?”
“I’ve been sitting at the counter all day and haven’t been paying attention to what’s going on outside.” Chunyao shook her head. Since opening Jin Yu Man Tang, she hasn’t had any personal time.
"Could you be mistaken?"
"I hope I'm mistaken," Ye Yunniang sighed. "You know, my relationship with her is very strained right now. I can't say anything, and I can't ask."
"You want me to ask?" Chunyao frowned; she didn't want to get involved in this kind of thing at all.
Ye Yunniang shook her head, "I don't know if I should ask you to ask. There's no right way to put it. Maybe I'm just too far away and saw it wrong."
"When you saw them, in which direction from the restaurant? Where were they located?"
"There are two rooms on the west side of the restaurant?... Hmm... Three rooms, three shops." Ye Yunniang recalled.
“Three shops, that’s Xiangji Teahouse.” Chunyao was very familiar with that area. “I’ll go check out the teahouse when I have time. If I run into her, I’ll talk to Maimiao about it.” Considering they had chatted together in the past, she would try to persuade her to change her mind.
"Sister Chunyao, I'm sorry to have troubled you. I really hope I just misread it."
"Don't overthink it," Chunyao comforted Ye Yunniang, feeling that Ye Yunniang was too weak and soft-hearted. She still cared about the person who hurt her.
But this is for the best; Ye Yunniang's loyalty to the past allows her to reap many benefits.
After leaving courtyard number 2, Ye Yunniang went straight home.
"Pingping, you're back."
"Mother, I miss you so much." Li Ping rushed towards Ye Yunniang.
Ye Yunniang also hugged her youngest son tightly. This was the first time Li Ping had been away from her for so long.
Ye Yunniang looked Li Ping up and down. His face hadn't lost weight, and he was quite plump. It was just that his face was flushed red, and his fingers had chilblains.
"You've suffered so much." Ye Yunniang felt sorry for Li Ping and pulled him to see a doctor.
After taking his pulse to confirm that there was no problem, I bought two boxes of frostbite cream.
I ran into Li Pan and Li An on the way home from school.
"Big brother, second brother!" Li Ping shouted.
"Pingping!" The two cheered and ran towards Ye Yunniang.
The three brothers hugged each other.
"Mother, why are you carrying medicine? Are you sick?"
"Mother, where do you feel unwell?"
"I'm fine. This is frostbite cream I bought for Pingping," Ye Yunniang explained.
Li Pan and Li An then noticed the frostbite on Li Ping's hands.
The two brothers were heartbroken and each held one of his hands, saying they wanted to warm his hand.
Ye Yunniang smiled as she watched the three brothers, who seemed to be living in harmony and love.
I wish life could always be this smooth.
When Li Ping returned, Ye Yunniang cut up all the cured meat and went to the cellar to get dried shrimp, dried chicken, and other good dishes that she had stored away.
I cooked a table full of delicious dishes for dinner.
Smelling the delicious aroma from next door, and then looking at my own overly salty side dishes, and a bowl of vegetable porridge that smells burnt even before I've tasted it.
"I want to eat meat." Xu Erlei couldn't resist and slammed his chopsticks on the table.
“You look like meat to me, so eat your food properly.” Liang Maimiao frowned.
"I saw that Grandma gave you money to buy meat this morning, why isn't there any meat?" Xu Erlei shouted.
"What kind of meat can you buy with 20 yuan from your grandma?"
“You can buy half a pound of meat for 20 coins,” Xu Dalei said.
"Are you going to argue with your mother too?" Liang Maimiao looked at Xu Dalei with a displeased expression.
"Mother, my second brother and I just don't want to eat burnt vegetable porridge," Xu Dalei explained his needs.
"There are still cornbreads here. Eat quickly," Liang Maimiao urged.
"I'm going to tell Grandma that you're abusing me," Xu Erlei said, getting up and running outside.
At this time, the other three members of the Xu family were busy at a noodle stall at the street corner.
"Come back." Liang Maimiao stood up and tried to grab Xu Erlei. She couldn't let her son reveal that she had been skimping on his grocery money.
Xu Dalei stopped Liang Maimiao, saying, "What you did wasn't discreet. Grandpa and Grandma know, and Dad knows too." Xu Dalei's words caused Liang Maimiao to take a step back and slump into a chair.
"I had no choice. If I don't give them the money, your aunt will be bullied to death by the Xing family."
"Your aunt is your family, and so are we."
"It's all Ye Yunniang's fault."
Xu Dalei frowned, "What did Aunt Yunniang do wrong?"
