Chapter 28

Chapter 28

◎Who is the ungrateful one◎

She muttered quietly in the back, but Jiang Jingyun, who had sharp ears, still heard it: "If it wasn't you, then who spread the word first?"

Zheng Lu glared at Jiang Jingyun with hatred, and said unyieldingly: "Why should I tell you, you bastard without a father or a mother, I wonder how long you can keep doing this!"

"You don't have to say anything," Jiang Jingyun warned in a low voice with a gloomy face, "but if I hear you say something that's not ivory, I will press your son to death in the mud and make him never utter a word again."

"You dare!" Zheng Lu raised her voice.

"You try it and see if I dare." Jiang Jingyun said fiercely.

He usually looked like a weak scholar. Zheng Lu had never seen such a vicious side of Jiang Jingyun. She was so scared that she trembled and her momentum weakened. She didn't dare to shout at him anymore and ran away in shame, pulling her little son.

Brother Jiang looked at the two people running away in panic and asked casually, "Just let them go like that? We haven't even found out who started the rumor."

"No, I think I know who it is." Jiang Jingyun looked away in disgust, unwilling to get entangled with these bad guys anymore.

"Ah? Who is it?"

"Don't ask anymore, let's talk about it when we get back." Uncle Jiang's expression was not very good, and he urged Brother Jiang with a cold face.

"Oh." Why do they seem to know everything, and I am the only one who is stupid? Second Brother Jiang was not convinced, but when he saw his eldest brother who was also confused, he felt relieved instantly, as long as he was not the only one.

As soon as he got home, before he even sat down, Uncle Jiang couldn't control his temper and smashed a cup. Brother Jiang was so scared that he hid aside, thinking that he had done something wrong without knowing it and made his father angry.

Just when he was about to go to Jiang Jingyun to ask, he heard his aunt, who also looked very unhappy, sneer, "It's not our fault. Who are you showing your displeasure to at home?"

Uncle Jiang had a gloomy face. He did not refute Li's ridicule and just sat there in silence.

The aunt-in-law couldn't stand the look on his face, so she snorted coldly, turned her sleeves and went out to prepare dinner for the day.

Jiang Jingyun saw that it was already dark outside, and said to his uncle, "It's getting late. I'll take my younger sister back first. Let's talk about this tomorrow."

Seeing that he had no intention of staying for dinner, the uncle nodded, thinking that his two younger brothers were waiting at home, and said, "You go back first. I will take charge of this matter and will definitely give you an explanation."

Jiang Jingyun smiled and replied, "Okay, I'm fine. Anger is bad for your health. You and your aunt shouldn't get angry about this."

What a good kid! He was maliciously slandered but still turned around to persuade others. Boss Jiang couldn't understand how someone could be so cruel to harm him. He felt unhappy just thinking about that person.

Speaking of Jiang Jingyun, when he went to Xiao Muyan's house to pick up his two younger brothers, he found that eldest brother Xiao had already prepared dinner for them, so he decided to stay and have a meal.

At the table, Xiao Muyan put some meat into Jiang Jingyun's bowl and asked, "Is everything settled?"

Jiang Jingyun took a bite of rice and replied casually, "The apparent problem has been solved."

Xiao Muyan frowned: "Openly?"

"Well, we haven't done it behind the scenes yet." Jiang Jingyun looked up with a wicked smile on his face. Afraid that his youngest sister would hear him and learn bad things, he leaned close to Xiao Muyan's ear and whispered, "I'll secretly put a sack on them and beat them up in two days!"

The warm breath coming from his ears made Xiao Muyan feel itchy and uncomfortable. His body stiffened involuntarily and he asked, "Do you need my help?"

"You haven't recovered from your injury yet, so we don't need you." Jiang Jingyun sat up straight and waved his hand to refuse. "Besides, there are only a few weaklings. I will call my elder brother and the second brother, and they will be able to drink a pot of water."

"What are soft-legged shrimps? Are they delicious?" The little sister who was eating from a small bowl nearby heard this and asked curiously, "What do you want to drink?"

"They are bad things. You can't eat them. They will upset your stomach. Drinking more water will make them a little better." Jiang Jingyun talked nonsense to fool his youngest sister. His serious look made his two younger brothers couldn't help but look at him with contempt.

Jiang Jingyun ignored these looks and continued to educate his sister shamelessly: "If you encounter such bad things in the future, remember not to get close and run away immediately, okay?"

"Okay." The little sister nodded in confusion, "Run back and tell your brother to chase you away."

Jiang Jingyun touched her two little locks of hair and praised, "Yes, my Qingrong is so smart!" He then looked at his two troublesome younger brothers. When they received the look from their eldest brother and nodded silently, he was satisfied and stopped lecturing.

Xiao Muyan watched the interaction between the Jiang brothers and sisters with a smile. He was still a child, but he liked to act like a big brother in front of the younger ones. "Okay, tell me whenever you need anything."

"Yeah." Jiang Jingyun responded perfunctorily. The food at Xiao Muyan's house was a bit unpalatable, and he couldn't get used to just sitting there with his head down and eating.

Xiao Muyan also noticed that his cooking skills were not very good, and what he usually cooked was just enough to fill his stomach. "My cooking is not very tasty. If you are not used to it, forget it. I will cook a few more eggs for you."

"Huh?" Jiang Jingyun looked up in confusion, seeing Xiao Muyan's slightly embarrassed expression, he smiled, "No need to bother, we're full." Besides, they were the ones who came to disturb him, so why would they be picky? It was only with Xiao Muyan that he felt relaxed, so he acted more casually. If he was with someone else, Jiang Jingyun would never let anyone notice a single thing.

After dinner, the three brothers quickly cleaned the table, said goodbye to Xiao Muyan, patted their butts and went back home to rest.

Another day of war and chaos passed.

After school the next afternoon, Uncle Jiang and his wife took Jiang Jingyun to his uncle's house.

As soon as the three of them entered the door, they were greeted by their smiling uncle: "Why did you have time to come here today?"

Without waiting for their answer, Jiang Laosan continued, "Are you here to see the progress of the tables and chairs? Ever since eldest brother came to give the order that day, Jing'an has been working day and night. Now several have been completed. I'd like to take you to have a look?" As he spoke, he wanted to lead them to the backyard. Jiang Jing'an usually did carpentry work in the backyard of his home, and the finished tables and chairs were temporarily placed there.

Uncle Jiang stood still and said, "Third brother, we didn't come here for this matter today."

"Then...what's it all about?" Jiang Lao San showed confusion. His eldest brother's attitude seemed a little cold today. Looking at his eldest sister-in-law and nephew standing next to him, the expressions on their faces were not too good either. He didn't know what it was all about. Could it be that the business couldn't be done? Jiang Laosan's heart tightened. What should he do with the things that Jing'an had made?

Before I could ask, I heard Jiang Laodao say, "Is Madam Mo here? Ask her to come out. I have something to ask her."

"Mrs. Mo?" What do you want to see her for? Could it be that she has caused trouble again? Jiang Lao San said hurriedly, "She has been feeling unwell these past two days and is resting in the house. I will go and call her out."

When Jiang Mo came out, her eyes were evasive and she hid behind Jiang Lao San, not daring to move forward. This was completely different from her usual swagger and arrogance.

When Boss Jiang was young, he had also been out there and had met many people. Now, seeing Mrs. Mo like this, he was 100% sure of what he was thinking. He shouted in a cold voice, "Mr. Mo, do you know you are wrong?"

Mo was so frightened that he trembled. He knew that what he had done was known, but he still refused to say: "I don't know what you are talking about. What did I do wrong?"

"You still don't admit it!" Uncle Jiang was furious when he saw that Mrs. Mo was so fearless and unrepentant. He couldn't teach a woman a lesson. His beard was shaking with anger. He could only glare at Jiang Lao San who was standing beside him, "Look at what she has done!"

Jiang Laosan was confused: "She has stayed at home these few days and has not gone out. She has not done anything..."

"Humph, she didn't go out, but her gossip is almost all over the village." The aunt snorted coldly, saying sarcastically, "She is in poor health, but she is very sharp-tongued. On the surface, she makes money from her nephew, but behind his back she scolds him for being ungrateful, unfilial, and ruining the reputation of her own young generation. She caused Jing Lin and Jing Feng to be beaten. Mo, you are such a good elder!"

"What?!" Jiang Laosan trembled and looked at Mrs. Mo in disbelief. Jiang Jingan had been working hard at home these days, and he and Jinghong were helping her inside and outside. They didn't pay much attention to what was happening outside. He didn't expect that she would cause such a big thing without making any noise.

Mrs. Mo argued in a low voice: "I just said a few words casually in my own yard, but I didn't know that someone would hear it and spread it out... I didn't know it would turn out like this..."

"What kind of person is Zheng Lu who lives next door? Auntie, don't you know?"

"People's words are scary. If this gets out, how will people point fingers at us brothers and sisters? Auntie, don't you know that?"

"I will never forget your kindness in helping me in my time of need. Have I ever neglected you?"

"I wonder how did my nephew get the reputation of being unfilial and unfraternal?"

Jiang Jingyun asked a series of questions, his voice trembling slightly with excitement, and his face showed uncontrollable disappointment.

Uncle Jiang patted the back of his hand to comfort him, signaling him not to say anything more. Some things are more suitable for elders to say: "As an elder, you are unkind and unfraternal, bullying a few children. If your second brother and his wife knew about it, how can we face them?" Speaking of the second child who died young, Uncle Jiang's voice was a little choked up, "If you can't take care of your own affairs, now that your parents are gone, the eldest brother is like a father, so I will have to discipline you a little."

After these words, Jiang Laosan was so ashamed that he felt embarrassed.

When Jiang Jingyun said that, Mrs. Mo didn't say anything. But when Jiang Laoda said he wanted to discipline her, she refused to accept it. Anyway, things had come to this point, and she was not afraid of boiling water. She retorted in dissatisfaction: "You are acting like the eldest brother now. When you two joined forces to do business without bringing the third brother's family, why didn't you talk about loving the younger generation? Why, Jiang Jingyun and the others are your good nephews, but my Jinghong and Jingan are not?"

"The work that was assigned to us, Jing Hongjing, was all hard and tiring, and we could only earn a few dollars a year."

"You guys are so good, now you can open a restaurant, but you don't even take us with you?"

Mrs. Mo rolled her eyes at Jiang Jingyun. She didn't dare to say the last sentence loudly, but only muttered quietly, "It's a pity that his uncle has always been so sincere to him, but he doesn't think about this at all. What else can he be but an ungrateful wolf?"

Jiang Jingyun smiled, as if he was still to blame in the end. He looked at Mrs. Mo coldly and said in a sharp voice, "Aunt, we all took out money to do business. If you want to do it, why don't you take out fifty taels of silver as the cost, and you will get a share of the business. What do you think?"
