4 Chapter 4

◎Debt◎

After having a dinner which was not too late at all, Jiang Jingyun cleaned up the dishes with the children at home, then carried a bamboo basket containing two bowls of snails and walked towards his uncle's house.

I originally wanted to send a copy to my savior, but he didn't seem to be at home.

Coincidentally, the two families were neighbors, separated by two walls.

After Jiang Jingyun woke up, he wanted to go to the house to express his gratitude, but the gate of the courtyard next door had been closed for several days and no one was there.

After asking, I learned that once hunters go up the mountain, they will not come down for ten days or half a month. Sometimes they are too unlucky and don't hunt anything good, so they may stay up there for a month or two.

Jiang Jingyun didn't worry about it. He thought that they would meet each other if they were destined to.

Besides, I’m the one who owes the debt, so there’s no rush!

Hehehehe!

When they arrived at his uncle's house, Jiang Jingyun didn't waste any words. He stuffed the bowl into his aunt's hand, and then said that he had to deliver it to his younger uncle's house. He dragged his second son and ran away, leaving only the nagging voice of his aunt lingering there.

Yes, he brought his second child with him this time.

After all, although he still has the memories of his original body, knowing the way has nothing to do with memory.

Jiang Jinglin, the navigation expert, is worth having!

The three brothers of the Jiang family have always had a good relationship. When the family was divided, the second and third brothers of the Jiang family chose residential plots not far from the old house. They strolled towards their uncle's house and arrived there in a short while.

The two men arrived at an unfortunate time. When they arrived, their uncle's family was preparing to have dinner, and their fourth cousin Jiang Jing'an, who was an apprentice, also happened to be on vacation at home.

After the two brothers of the Jiang family entered the door, they first greeted the two elders.

Aunt Jiang Mo seemed unhappy that the two of them came at this time. She said "hmm" neither lightly nor heavily, and sat down by herself without even glancing at the two brothers.

Uncle Jiang at the side coughed lightly, raised his head and glared at his eldest son who was sitting still: "What are you doing standing there? Don't you have any eyesight? Go, get two more pairs of bowls and chopsticks." Then he called to them, "Come on, nephews, sit down and eat together."

Jiang Jingyun seemed unaware of the undercurrents at the table. He pulled his second brother to sit next to his fourth cousin and placed the snails in the basket on the table. "We had already eaten before we came. This morning, when I went to the fields to fertilize, I saw that the snails in the canal were very plump, so I picked up a lot. I tried to fry them and found them delicious. I sent some over for you to try."

"When will fifth cousin learn to cook? It happens that I'm back today, so I'm in for a treat." Fourth cousin joked, and took out his chopsticks to pick up a snail and put it into his mouth. After tasting it, his eyes lit up, and then without saying anything, he just kept putting snails into his bowl.

Seeing Jiang Jing'an's expression, the others knew that it must be delicious, so they all picked up their chopsticks to try it.

After trying it, I can’t put my chopsticks down anymore.

Everyone was so busy eating that they didn't even have time to entertain the two of them.

Jiang Jingyun didn't feel uncomfortable. It was just that they came at an inappropriate time, and eating was more important.

Seeing that everyone liked it, he proudly said, "It's delicious, right? I'm not bragging, everyone who has eaten it says it's good." From time to time, he would also give some instructions on how to eat it: "Before eating, take a sip of the juice first, then eat the meat, it tastes better this way."

Everyone nodded in agreement, and ate the bowl of snails until they were full and skin round, still feeling a little unsatisfied.

The uncle smacked his lips and said, "Jingyun, your cooking skills are really good. No one has ever made snails so delicious. If you add some wine, it will be even better."

Mrs. Mo twisted her uncle's arm, rolled her eyes, and said sarcastically, "What kind of wine are you drinking? You don't even check how much money you have in your pocket. You just act like a big shot and spend money all the time."

"Why are you saying these things again!" Uncle Jiang scolded softly, "My nephews are here, please give me some face."

“What am I doing!” Mrs. Mo suddenly yelled at the top of her voice, her voice was sharp and high-pitched like a firecracker that was suddenly lit, “Look at the eldest son, he’s been like a piece of wood day by day, he’s already sixteen years old, but he still hasn’t gotten married because he can’t collect enough gifts! The second son, he’s been working as an apprentice for two people, he hasn’t learned any skills, and he doesn’t know when he will be able to make it! You, on the other hand, only know how to swell your face and pretend to be rich every day, and you’ve spent all your family assets on other people’s affairs! Now the family is so poor that we’re broke, do you still want to spend money? How can we live? Why am I so miserable, wuwuwu…”

No one in the room said a word, leaving only Mo's hysterical crying.

Jiang Jingyun didn't react. Life had made him thick-skinned, so these few words didn't hurt him at all. But the second brother was still young and couldn't stand it. He stood up and wanted to go out when he heard it.

Jiang Jingyun quickly stood up and held him, signaling to his brother to wait a moment with his eyes.

He bowed deeply to the two people at the main seat, "Thank you elders for your concern about my family's affairs recently. I will remember your great kindness and will never forget to repay you."

Afraid that they would think he was just talking nonsense, Jiang Jingyun pointed to the empty bowl on the table and briefly explained his plan, "Recently, I have been thinking about doing some business to earn a living. Cousin, you have a lot of experience working in town, why don't you help me look for food like this, is it feasible?"

After the farce started, my third cousin Jiang Jinghong had already hidden in the kitchen under the pretext of cleaning up the dishes and refused to come out. Fourth cousin Jiang Jingan stood nearby, laughing awkwardly. He wanted to say something to ease the atmosphere but didn't know how to start.

Seeing Jiang Jingyun asking about it, Jiang Jingan only thought for a moment, then slapped his thigh and said excitedly: "It's feasible. I have never seen anyone selling snails in the town. The dignitaries in the town are not short of money. Maybe they love these novel and delicious foods. They will definitely sell well!"

"Then I appreciate your good words." Jiang Jingyun replied with a smile, not caring how much truth there was in his words. He quietly opened the tightly clenched fist under the sleeve of his second brother beside him, stood up and said goodbye: "It's getting late, so I won't bother you anymore. We will go back first."

Hearing this, Jiang Lao San also stood up, patted the dust off his trouser legs and walked out, "Uncle will see you off."

When they reached the door together, Jiang Jingyun stopped his uncle from sending him off any further, "It's getting dark, and the road is hard to walk on, uncle, please just send me here, no need to be so polite to your nephew." He paused, as if hesitating whether he should say the next words directly, but Jiang Jingyun's way of dealing with people told him: talking about money hurts feelings, but not talking about it clearly will double the hurt.

So he quietly assured his uncle, "Don't worry, I will pay you back as soon as possible and will not make it difficult for you."

The uncle just sighed, "Your aunt has no bad intentions, but the eldest and second oldest children in the family are not very promising. She herself was injured when she gave birth to Jing'an, and she has been inseparable from medicine bottles all year round. This time she was anxious because she had no money in her pocket, so she said those words in anger. Don't take it to heart. The uncle also knows that it is not easy for you. There is no rush for money, take your time."

Jiang Jingyun nodded and said, "I know."

It was just getting dark when they came out of their uncle's house, but in order to prevent his second brother from falling, Jiang Jingyun held his hand and walked back together.

Although there was no one on the road, he did not feel scared because of the croaking of frogs in the rice fields. He even had the leisure to hum a few tunes along with the frogs.

Jiang Jinglin looked at his heartless elder brother with complicated eyes: "Brother, aren't you angry when Auntie said that?"

"Why are you angry? It's only natural to pay back a debt." Jiang Jingyun took the opportunity to teach his brother a lesson. "You have to know that others are willing to lend you money because of our past friendship. So it's our duty to pay it back as soon as possible. No matter what the attitude is, it's a loan, and we have to repay the debt. We can't be ungrateful, understand?

The second brother nodded in confusion.

"Forget it, you are still young, just understand the principle." Jiang Jingyun touched the dog's head, "Don't panic, I'll take care of everything."

"Brother, if we really sell snails, can we make money?"

"Let's try it first. If it doesn't work, we can try another method. If a tree is moved away, it will die. If a person is moved away, he will live. Can we die from holding our urine?"

Jiang Jinglin frowned, disapproving, "But——"

"Don't say buts. Why are you so nagging at such a young age?" Jiang Jingyun pushed him forward. "Hurry up, hurry up. It's getting dark. If you don't go back now, the two little ones will be scared at home."

Speaking of his younger brothers and sisters, Jiang Jinglin no longer cared about his entrepreneurial plan that had not yet come into being, and hurriedly pulled his brother back home.

Before they reached the door of their house, they saw a tall figure standing in front of his yard, and the sound of his little sister crying could be faintly heard from the house.

The people who heard it felt nervous, thinking, could something have happened? !

People in ancient times all had some degree of night blindness due to poor diet.

The two brothers took two quick steps and when they got closer they realized that the person standing at the door was the neighbor they had never met, Jiang Jingyun's savior, Xiao Muyan.

The man was wearing a black coarse cloth short coat, with a slender figure, a straight back, a dark and handsome face, sword-like eyebrows, bright eyes, a high nose bridge, and thin lips tightly pursed. He was looking at them with a little vigilance.

Seeing that it was the two brothers of the Jiang family, he took the initiative to explain, "I heard crying when I came back, and it was pitch black inside. I was worried that something had happened, so I came to check."

He has a cold face that seems to keep strangers away, but he actually has a warm heart, Jiang Jingyun thought to himself.

"It's probably because we came back a little late, and the children at home were scared." Jiang Jingyun quickly opened the locked gate and shouted inside, "Little sister, brother is back."

Before he could finish his words, a small cannonball rushed out of the house and hit Jiang Jingyun's calf.

The third brother followed closely behind with a bitter look on his face. "As soon as it got dark, my little sister started crying and kept asking for my big brother. No matter how I tried to comfort her, she wouldn't listen."

"It's my fault, big brother. I wanted to come back after delivering the things, but I was delayed for a while." Jiang Jingyun picked up the little sister who was crying and hiccuping, and carried her on his back, "Don't cry, my little sister is so cute, big brother will never abandon you."

"Yeah." The younger sister responded with a sob, burying her head in Jiang Jingyun's neck and not wanting to look up.

Jiang Jingyun touched the little head with heartache. It was his fault for not thinking it through this time. The child already had an insecure feeling and he was scared again this time.

Xiao Muyan, who was outside the door, saw that the man seemed to be fine, so he turned around and wanted to leave. "Since there is nothing wrong, I will go back first."

Jiang Jingyun hurriedly stopped his benefactor, "Brother Xiao just came down from the mountain, I guess he hasn't eaten yet. It's getting late now, and it would be troublesome to go back with an empty stove. Why don't you stay and have some food before leaving."

"That's right, Brother Xiao, please stay and have dinner. The food my brother cooks is delicious." The second brother also tried to persuade him to stay.

Xiao Muyan paused, as if hesitating.

Seeing this, Jiang Jingyun hurriedly said, "It just so happens that I've been thinking about doing some business lately. Brother Xiao, you're very knowledgeable. Can I ask you for some advice?"

"good."
