39 · Chapter 39

Messiah looked at Bruce Wayne blankly, not understanding why the other party wanted to adopt them for no reason.

He remembered that Superman in the previous world had also mentioned that he wanted to adopt him. Although for some reason he never mentioned it again later, it was indeed adoption.

So is Superman, so is Batman...

Do all superheroes have a hobby of adopting people?

Bruce looked serious. Although he was wearing Bruce Wayne's suit, he looked like he was wearing Batman's armor.

But when he touched the faces of Messiah and Jason, a smile filled his eyes. His blue eyes were like bright pearls, and the appearance of baby Brucie could be seen in them.

The Dark Knight and the Prince of Gotham exist here simultaneously.

"Yes, adoption," Bruce said solemnly. "I know this request is abrupt, but my thoughts are all sincere."

Unlike a simple Messiah, Jason felt that Batman must have ulterior motives. After the shock faded, he was left with only full of vigilance.

"If it's to prevent us from leaking secrets, you don't need to adopt me in exchange. We will keep it secret."

Jason's expression was like that of a vigilant little animal, his eyes filled with wariness towards Bruce Wayne. His voice was cold and hard: "Batman is a hero of Gotham, and we have also received help from the Wayne Group."

"Messiah and I are children of Crime Alley, but we are not so despicable as to repay kindness with enmity."

Messiah's expression became even more confused. He didn't understand why his brother was suddenly unhappy. Was adoption something really disgusting?

Messiah didn't understand why being a family member would make people hate him. He and his brother became a family, and every moment was much, much happier than in the previous world.

But there must be a reason why my brother is angry.

Messiah, who knew nothing about many common senses in society, looked at Jason's angry expression and combined it with the disapproval shown by Wonder Woman when Superman wanted to adopt him in the previous world, and came to a conclusion.

Adoption can be degrading, offensive, and unpleasant, which is why Jason and Wonder Woman are unhappy.

Messiah shook his empty little head, gulped down the fried egg that was blocking his mouth, and stared at Bruce closely: "Don't bully Jason."

Bruce was organizing his words to explain to Jason, but when he heard Messiah's imaginative and jumping speech, he almost couldn't control the expression on his face.

Why can his proposal for adoption be linked to his bullying of Jason?

Do I look menacing?

Bruce suppressed the urge to look down at himself, wondering in disbelief, why did one person think he adopted them to prevent them from leaking secrets, while the other thought he was bullying?

Whether he is Batman or Bruce Wayne, the big bat who has always been loved by children has chosen to endure it in humiliation.

"No, I don't want to control your thoughts." Bruce looked into Jason and Messiah's eyes sincerely, "I just want to be a family with you - a real family without any profit factors mixed in."

"I know this proposal is abrupt and you may think it's just a spur-of-the-moment thing, but it's something I've thought about carefully. I know you better than you think."

Messiah looked into Bruce Wayne's blue eyes, and in a trance he seemed to see another pair of blue eyes. The owner of those blue eyes also said similar words to him, wanting to become a family with him.

Then the owner of the blue eyes fell, and fell, and finally turned into a diamond and fell into the deep sea.

The Messiah did not speak.

Jason's ears turned red when he heard Bruce's blunt remarks about "family," but these slight fluctuations could not shake his strong desire to protect the Messiah.

"Do you dare to say you have no fear?" Jason sneered, not without sarcasm, "You care about Messiah's ability, so you adopted us. Only by keeping us by your side can you better monitor us."

"Messiah and I are kids from Crime Alley. And you, Batman, are the big hero, and Bruce Wayne is the richest man in Gotham."

Jason displayed great aggression, each word like a knife cutting into Batman's heart: "If you didn't have other motives, why would you want to adopt a child from Crime Alley?"

Messiah nodded repeatedly, supporting Jason's statement with both hands and feet.

Even though Messiah was completely out of the picture, the younger brother was always right.

Bruce didn't hide anything and directly admitted his vigilance against the Messiah: "I don't want to lie to you. As Batman, I am indeed wary of the Messiah's abilities."

"In order to better protect everything I want to protect, I must be vigilant and make plans in advance."

Bruce couldn't explain his thoughts to Messiah and Jason in a few words, but he couldn't hide it from the two kids either.

For children who lack a sense of security, hiding things will only push them further away.

"But that's just Batman's idea."

"You are good children with a sense of justice and talent." Jason and Messiah were reflected in Bruce's blue eyes. "But if I just wanted to guide you, I could help you as a mentor like Robin did. There's no need to offer to adopt you."

Bruce said carefully and solemnly, "There is only one reason why I want to adopt you - I want to become a family with you and take you home.

Messiah stood up suddenly and babbled, "I'm sleepy. I'm going to bed. Good morning."

He climbed down the dining chair silently, not daring to even look at Bruce's expression, and was about to run away with his head down.

However, Bruce easily stopped the Messiah, who possessed the "Man of Steel" and "super strength", with just gentle force.

He gently lifted Messiah's face, took out a clean handkerchief from his pocket, and gently wiped off the fried egg crumbs on Messiah's cheek.

Messiah seemed to be frozen in place, unable to look up at Bruce's eyes, nor could he break free from Bruce's hand and run away. He could only let Bruce wipe his cheeks.

Although both were wiping their faces, Bruce's movements were completely different from Jason's violent wiping. His movements were as gentle as a warm breeze.

"Alright." Bruce put away his handkerchief, chuckled softly, and stroked Messiah's hair. "Go to bed."

"Good morning, Messiah."

Bruce's posture was extremely natural, as if this was the Wayne Mansion and the Messiah was already his legitimate child.

Messiah's entire body turned red. After Bruce let go, he only had time to look at Jason, who had also turned red, before he ran away as fast as he could.

Bruce's low laugh reached Messiah's ears, and Messiah ran faster with his short legs.

The distance from the living room to the bedroom was only a few meters, but Messiah was so flustered that he almost tripped over his left foot and fell.

Jason wanted to run too.

His eyes drifted back and forth in the air, sometimes looking at the ceiling, sometimes looking at the fried eggs on the plate, but he didn't dare to look at Bruce.

"Jason." Bruce called out to him, and to Jason's ears it sounded like a siren's song luring the crew. "The Messiah is sleepy, but I suppose you're not."

"Will you be my child?"

Jason stuttered a few times: "I, I..."

He wanted to refuse, but under the gentle attack of Bruce's blue eyes, he couldn't say it.

Jason tried to distract himself by imagining that the Gotham tabloids were right, baby Bruce had magic in his eyes, no wonder so many women and men were attracted to Bruce Wayne.

Everyone loves Bruce Wayne, no one can resist him.

Ahhhhhhh! No! There's no way he could agree to Bruce Wayne's proposal!

Be firm, be firm, and don't be deceived by Bruce Wayne. Bruce Wayne is Batman. No matter how nice he says, he has bad intentions. And you've only met a few times.

Jason brainwashed himself frantically, and finally looked up and met Bruce's eyes.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Wayne," Jason said as coldly as possible, "I can't possibly agree to your proposal, and the Messiah..."

Jason hesitated, thinking of Messiah's obviously shaken reaction. Although he felt that Messiah would not agree, he could not make the decision for Messiah.

Messiah, who was lying on the bed with his eyes tightly closed but could not help but listen, immediately shouted, "I don't agree either!"

After not confronting Bruce, Messiah was finally able to firmly say no.

He only needs Jason as a family and doesn't need Batman in his life.

Messiah subconsciously hugged the Batman doll on the bed, and after realizing that it was a Batman doll, he threw it away as if his hand was burned.

The Batman doll rolled to the ground in frustration.

Bruce's expression remained gentle. Jason and Messiah's rejection didn't bother him at all. He reached out to ruffle Jason's hair, but Jason dodged his hand violently.

"Mr. Wayne, you should leave."

Jason stood up from his chair, without even looking at Bruce, and walked towards the bedroom. "The Messiah needs a bedtime story before he can fall asleep. You can leave on your own."

"Goodbye, Mr. Wayne."

Bruce said firmly, "Jason, Messiah, my desire to become a family with you won't change."

Messiah covered his ears, but Bruce's voice seemed to have magic and continued to drill into his ears.

"I will come to visit you again, and I hope to impress you one day."

Jason quickly walked into the room and slammed the door shut, completely isolating the two of them from Bruce.

Bruce Wayne left.

But both Messiah and Jason knew this would never be the end.

Messiah stared at the ceiling with dull eyes. It turned out that "adoption" really meant wanting to become a family, but now he would rather adoption be insulting and disgusting.

It wasn't like this when Superman offered to adopt him in the previous world...

Jason fell on the bed with a thud and said in a trance: "Messiah, is this the power of Batman and baby Bruce..."

It's so scary.

Messiah the puppy shook his head like water, trying to shake Bruce out of his head, but a few candies fell down again.

Bruce was secretly stuffing candy in his hair again.

After those candies rolled out, the bedroom froze in an instant.

"no!"

Jason sat up abruptly: "I can't think about Bruce Wayne anymore!"

"We'll go to school to register tomorrow!" Jason gritted his teeth, "Let learning defeat Bruce Wayne!"

Messiah agreed with both hands and feet: "Yes!"

Whatever it was, if it got Bruce out of his head, it was good.
