5 · Chapter 5

Superman and Messiah flew quickly across the blue sky. Messiah flew silently behind Superman, with nothing in his mind.

Ever since he realized this was just a game, Messiah didn't care about anything anymore.

Anyway, this is just a game. Even Metropolis can be bombed by a nuclear bomb at will. So what’s the big deal about following Superman to kill people?

Messiah was even a little eager to try it. Killing was a new thing for him, and he was full of curiosity about this unknown thing that he had never experienced before.

Superman smashes through the wall and bursts into the interrogation room of Gotham Prison.

Messiah landed on tiptoe, stepped over the scattered bricks and walked into the interrogation room. The scene inside the interrogation room came into his sight.

Inside the interrogation room, an unknown person in a pitch-black bat armor was confronting Superman. A pale-faced prisoner in a green-haired and purple-suited suit was clapping and laughing wildly. A woman dressed as the Joker was also clapping.

Messiah quickly identified the identities of the three strangers.

Batman, Gotham vigilante, superhero protecting Gotham, consultant to the Justice League, and friend of Superman.

The Joker, the super villain of Gotham, the culprit who destroyed Metropolis, the person Superman wants to kill.

Harley Quinn, Gotham super villain and companion of the Joker.

"HAHAHAHA!" The Joker grinned fiercely and cast his gaze on the new Messiah. "Let me guess, are you Superman's new helper?"

"Oh, our Superman is a poor little baby. Batboy won't help him, so he has to find a new owner for his leash."

A surge of malice hit him, but Messiah simply ignored the Joker's existence, as if he was just a non-existent dead object.

Messiah looked at Superman intently, without blinking, and he was looking forward to Superman's next performance.

How should the "superman" who once asked him "not to kill and not to take other people's lives" kill people and take other people's lives?

"Enough, Joker!" Batman yelled at the Joker, "Shut up!"

Superman glared at the Joker with red eyes and roared, "How dare you!!"

The Joker spread his hands to Superman and made an innocent expression: "Superman, why are you serious?"

"A human god who killed his pregnant wife and nuked a metropolis?"

“HAHAHAHA!!”

Bang——

Superman rushed towards the Joker angrily, pierced his chest with his arm, and crushed the Joker's heart, causing blood to splatter all over the ground.

“NO!”

Batman didn't expect Superman to kill anyone, and he was too late to stop him.

Superman pulled his hand away with a gloomy expression. He shook off the remaining heart fragments on his hand and looked down at the Joker's body condescendingly: "This is what he deserves."

The Messiah watched this farce quietly, as if he existed there, and as if he was in God's perspective, showing an indifference of being out of the matter.

He watched Superman's hand pierce the Joker's chest and nodded thoughtfully, feeling like he had learned something from it.

"Superman, you shouldn't have killed him." Batman frowned and spoke quickly, "You are a good person. This is the Joker's conspiracy. He wants to corrupt you."

Superman didn't want to hear Batman's denial of him, so he deliberately ignored Batman's existence and turned to smile at the Messiah, but it looked uglier than crying.

"I have revenge." Superman slowed down his expression and tried to show his usual soothing smile. "I have avenged Metropolis."

Messiah looked at Superman's twisted smile and nodded slowly: "Yeah."

After receiving the Messiah's affirmation, Superman's tense body gradually relaxed, as if he had breathed a sigh of relief, and his expression also became relaxed.

Superman was finally willing to face Batman. He turned his head and looked at Batman, saying word by word: "B, you see, I was right."

Then, he turned his gaze to Harley Quinn, who was crying over the clown's body, and his eyes turned red, ready to shoot out heat rays.

Batman stood in front of Harley Quinn, his lips pursed and his brows furrowed, his hand already reaching for the universal belt.

He stared deeply into Superman's familiar yet unfamiliar face, and finally moved his hand away without taking out the Red Sun Grenade.

He didn't want to further intensify the conflict between him and Superman... He also believed that Superman would recover from his grief and become the Son of the Sun again.

"You can't make the same mistake again, Superman." Batman wanted to call out Superman's real name "Clark", but considering the unidentified Messiah, he changed it to a code name. "We can't kill people. Killing will corrupt you."

"This is the Joker's conspiracy. The Joker wants to see you become bad. You can't let the Joker succeed."

"I'm not wrong!" Superman glared at Batman, his relaxed expression tense again. "It was the Joker and Harley Quinn who destroyed Metropolis! They installed a nuclear bomb controller in Lois's heart and made me regard Lois as an enemy!"

"You also know that Louise is pregnant! They made me lose Louise and our child, and they made me lose Metropolis!"

Superman almost roared as he finished speaking. He stared at Batman's face, trying to see Batman's true expression through the lead-containing hood.

However, all he saw was Batman's clenched jaw and relentless opposition.

"Why can't you understand! If you had killed the Joker earlier, Metropolis wouldn't have been destroyed and Lois wouldn't have died!"

"No, Superman, you need to calm down and stop letting the Joker corrupt you."

Superman and Batman were arguing fiercely. Harley Quinn rolled her eyes and took the opportunity to tiptoe out.

Messiah looked from Superman, who was concentrating on arguing with Batman, to Harley Quinn, who was about to escape, and tilted his head in confusion.

Why are Batman and Superman fighting? They're clearly together.

Is there really such a big difference between killing and not killing?

Messiah doesn't see the difference between killing and not killing, so he doesn't understand why Superman and Batman are arguing.

Messiah tried to understand.

Messiah began to think.

Messiah uses his brain.

Messiah had an idea.

Messiah concluded.

I see!

Messiah suddenly realized and clapped his hands. The quarrel between Batman and Superman was not about killing or not killing, but because Superman killed the Joker, and now it should be his turn to kill Harley Quinn, but Superman wanted to take Harley Quinn away from him.

He deliberately ignored Batman's statement that he "can't kill".

——In the eyes of Messiah, Superman, who once said "Don't kill" and required him not to kill, can kill the Joker. As Superman's friend, Batman is naturally similar to Superman.

——So in his eyes, Batman’s “cannot kill” is just talk, just like Superman’s.

So, Messiah took the initiative to step forward.

[Side Quest: Kill Harley Quinn]

[Harley Quinn is one of the culprits who caused the destruction of Metropolis. Now she is about to escape. Do you want to kill her? ]

Messiah walked up behind Harley Quinn, who had sneaked into the hole in the wall, and without warning, extended his right hand, imitating Superman's performance when he killed the Joker.

His right hand pierced through Harley Quinn's chest from behind and accurately grasped the beating heart.

With a "pop", Messiah crushed the heart.

Messiah slowly withdrew his hand, and the splattered blood splashed onto his face. Drops of blood fell on his fair cheeks, but he didn't care.

Harley Quinn fell to the ground with a stiff smile. Batman and Superman, who were arguing, suddenly stopped and looked over in surprise.

Messiah stared at Harley Quinn's fallen body, recalling the feeling of having just killed someone.

It's no different than when you're saving someone.

He confirmed once again that there was indeed no difference between killing and not killing.

Messiah imitated Superman's previous actions and shook off the remaining blood on his hands. His curiosity was satisfied.

Batman looked at Messiah, a boy who looked to be in his teens, with blood on his hands, and asked in shock and anger, "What did you do?!"

Messiah blinked slowly, a few drops of blood rolling down his cheek to the ground, and replied simply: "Murder."

Batman couldn't say anything harsh to a child - after all, this wasn't Robin. He turned his gaze to Superman and said in a low, hoarse voice, almost accusingly: "This is why I don't agree with you killing people."

"You are Superman, a superhero who symbolizes hope. Your every move will affect many people. It is because you killed the Joker that this child was influenced by you to kill Harley Quinn."

"No, B." Superman smiled easily. He looked at Messiah and the fallen Harley Quinn and said with almost joy, "That's exactly what proves I was right."

Messiah was completely unaware of the tension in the scene and said seriously, "I did what you all wanted to do."

There were three people with three different scripts on the scene, and only Messiah's script had no overlap with the other two.

Superman walked towards the Messiah, and the red cape hanging behind him stained the blood that was gradually spreading on the ground. He held the Messiah's face in his hands, and his blue eyes stared into the Messiah's golden eyes with a smile.

"Well done, Messiah." Superman cupped Messiah's cheeks with both hands and happily affirmed Messiah, "Good boy, you killed Harley Quinn for me."

Messiah shook his head, his voice muffled by Superman's hands on his cheeks. "No, I should do it."

He didn't kill Harley Quinn for Superman, but out of his curiosity.

Superman smiled happily. He gently wiped the blood off Messiah's face, but the blood remaining on his hands stained Messiah's cheeks red.

"The blood of the clown."

Superman frowned in disgust, pulled out two tissues from the desk next to him, and patiently wiped the blood off Messiah's cheeks. "I'm sorry, Messiah, I was so happy that I forgot there was blood on my hands and let this filth stain your face."

After wiping Messiah's face clean, Superman then wiped the blood off his hands.

Messiah originally didn't care about the blood on his hands, but when he saw Superman seemed concerned, he ran to the desk, pulled out a few tissues, and began to wipe his hands attentively.

Batman gave Superman a long look, as if meeting him for the first time.

"Clark, you're manipulating this kid." Batman said in a low voice, calling out Superman's human name, trying to awaken Superman, whose rage and hatred had washed away his rationality. "You can't let him think that killing is right."

——Batman believes that Superman has only temporarily lost his mind, and when he regains his sanity, the old Superman will come back.

Batman believes in Superman so much that he believes Superman is a good man, believes that Superman is just influenced by the Joker, and believes that the Joker's influence is only temporary.

"You're the one in the wrong, Bat."

Superman casually threw away the blood-stained paper ball and looked at Batman with disappointment, who stubbornly adhered to the principle of not killing. "The Joker once took Jason away from you. He took your son's life, and now he has taken my wife and daughter. I thought you could understand me."

"And I don't control the Messiah, I just guide him and let him know what is right."

Batman realized that continuing to argue with Superman would be fruitless, so he took a deep breath and turned his gaze to the Messiah who was wiping his hands.

Although Batman has never seen the Messiah before, he can infer the Messiah's identity from Superman's remarks.

—Survivors of the Metropolis nuclear explosion.

A child who survived a nuclear explosion would likely have lost all his family and friends, and everything he knew would have been reduced to dust. Superman is a superhero loved by most people in Metropolis, and this child might have idolized Superman.

In anger and sadness, he learned that the Joker and Harley Quinn were the culprits who ruined his life, and it was normal for him to be influenced by Superman and kill people.

Batman quickly analyzes Messiah's situation and wants to guide this child who has gone astray.

"Kid, is your name Messiah?"

Batman walked up to the Messiah in front of Superman and said in a soft voice, "Would you like to talk to me?"

“Let’s talk.”
