Chapter 107 New Clues

Upon hearing this, Professor Li felt a lump in his throat, a warmth appearing on his icy face as his anger instantly vanished. He awkwardly touched his nose and said, "I'll be more careful next time."

That's it?

That's all!

Everyone stared in disbelief, and pairs of bewildered gazes once again focused on Yu Wan.

Seeing Yu Wan stand up, Ji Ting glanced at the alarm clock on the wall and asked reluctantly, "Yu Yu, are you going home?"

"Why are you leaving so early?" Professor Li asked, quite displeased.

Yu Wan pulled her baseball cap down to hide the fatigue in her eyes: "The first molecular formula has been solved. I'll come over on Wednesday afternoon to work on the others."

A casual remark ignited a firestorm in the laboratory.

They studied it for more than three months without being able to solve it, but unexpectedly, they solved one of them in just one day.

What powerful computational and deductive capabilities!

That's insane!

Dead silence, a profound silence.

Everyone was filled with awe and no longer harbored the slightest thought of being negligent.

"Let me see." Professor Li adjusted her glasses, which had slipped down to the tip of her nose, and rushed forward, her eyes fixed intently on the data running on the computer. By the time she looked up, her heart pounding with excitement, Yu Wan had already left.

In the parking lot, Yu Wan started the car.

Ji Ting leaned down, placed his hands on the car window, and leaned in: "Can I come visit you next time?"

"No." Yu Wan refused coldly, her beautiful eyes lowered, fixed on the steering wheel. Although her emotions were unclear, one could tell that they were filled with cold impatience.

"But I'm so bored all by myself, and you're the only person I know." Ji Ting lowered her head dejectedly. "Just watching a movie, having dinner..."

Yu Wan became even more irritated by his noise and raised her hand to press her temples.

“No, I don’t want to have any more contact with you.” She glanced at Ji Ting, her voice cold: “I won’t come back after graduation.”

Four years was the timeframe of her deal with Principal Shen.

Old Man Yu has earned enough money; Yu Wan only wants to focus on being a good playboy. Besides, the things she likes… Her fingers on the steering wheel slowly tightened, and she exhaled a breath of stale air.

Ji Ting knew that her heart had always been cold and hard, and hadn't changed at all in two years; there was no way to warm it up.

He was about to speak when he suddenly heard a cell phone ring. Glancing over, he saw the words "Tang Dog" flashing on Yu Wan's phone screen.

Yu Wan didn't avoid Ji Ting and directly swiped to answer the call.

"When are you coming back? Aunt Chen has made a pot of chicken soup." Tang Yue's gentle and clear voice came through the phone. "It's not raining outside now, but the roads might be slippery, so drive carefully and be safe on the road..."

Listening to the other person's gentle and slow instructions, Yu Wan felt the frustration in her chest slowly dissipate. She leaned back lazily, her fingertips tapping the steering wheel, imagining his tender and affectionate expression at that moment.

"I know, Mom." She hung up the phone impatiently.

Turning her head, she saw that Ji Ting was still there and frowned in displeasure: "Why haven't you left yet?"

Before the upturned corners of her eyes could conceal the emotions within, tiny specks of light flickered within, like stars.

Ji Ting blurted out nervously, "Who is he?"

Yu Wan raised an eyebrow, a nonchalant smile suddenly appearing on her face: "You've overstepped your bounds."

Although she was smiling, an overwhelming chill seemed to permeate and engulf one's entire body.

"Get out of the way, I'm leaving."

Ji Ting pulled back, took a few steps back, raised his hands, and said in a coaxing and cautious tone, "Okay, okay, I won't bother you anymore, don't be angry."

The sports car sped off, its arrogant engine roar mirroring its owner's.

He clenched his fists, his eyes filled with an unreadable emotion.

-

It took more than an hour to get back to the city.

As they approached the villa, the roads in the university town were completely jammed, so Yu Wan had to drink a Coke to perk herself up. After finishing it, she crushed the empty bottle and tossed it onto the passenger seat.

Turning my head, I happened to see the car next to me roll down its window. The man inside leaned out to look ahead, then glanced down at his watch, his face full of anxiety.

Yu Wan twitched the corners of her mouth, revealing a slightly sarcastic smile.

Tsk.

That person, isn't he Tang Yue's second uncle?

I still vividly remember the frustrated look on her face after she ripped me off last time.

Just then, a bright young woman next to Tang Zhanhang leaned over, hooked her arm around his neck, and the two began... to kiss.

Yu Wan looked somewhat surprised, then a playful glint appeared in her eyes. She took out her phone, snapped a few photos, and sent them to Tang Yue.

Yu Xiaowan: You're welcome.

On the other side, Tang Yue stared at his phone, his hands zooming in on the image on the screen. When he saw the woman's face, his pupils contracted for a moment. The handsome man, who had been sitting languidly, unconsciously tensed his back and lowered his long, crossed legs.

How could it be her?

Why did the Yao family from Beijing come to Jiangcheng?

And she even started hanging out with Tang Zhanhang!

Could it be that the Yao family is also involved in the Tang family's bankruptcy?

After a moment of silence, Tang Yue's gentle smile vanished instantly, replaced by a chilling gaze. He casually forwarded the photo to Qin Feng, instructing him to investigate the Yao family's movements.

The phone screen light went out.

He leaned back and closed his eyes.

Lost in memories of the past.

pain.

And it was dark.

-

I don't know how much time had passed, but suddenly a warm hand was pressed against my forehead.

Tang Yue lifted his eyelids and slowly opened his eyes.

"Why is your face so pale?" Yu Wan muttered, looking puzzled.

She was about to pull her hand back when Tang Yue grabbed it, holding it tightly in his palm: "You're back."

His voice was slightly hoarse.

Yu Wan looked up and was caught off guard by the bloodshot look in his eyes, which he hadn't yet managed to conceal. Her heart skipped a beat. Thinking of something, she raised an eyebrow, amused, and teased, "Had a nightmare?"

Tang Yue's eyes flickered slightly, and he sneered inwardly: Wasn't that memory his nightmare?

For a fleeting moment, a dangerous glint flashed in his narrow eyes, but it quickly subsided.

He lowered his eyelids, and from Yu Wan's perspective, his thick, long eyelashes trembled, giving him a rather pitiful look.

"Are you scared?" She tilted her head slightly, her voice full of disbelief.

Tang Yue gave a mumbled "hmm," then suddenly leaned forward, wrapped his arms around her waist, rested his head on her lower abdomen, and whispered, "Let me lean on you for a bit."

Yu Wan froze, letting him hold her. Seeing Aunt Chen approach, she shook her head at her, signaling her to leave.

Aunt Chen gave an "I understand" look and quietly retreated.

The living room was quiet, yet a warm atmosphere permeated it.

Yu Wan stared at the top of Tang Yue's head, her eyes half-closed. This was too strange. What had happened to Tang Yue? Could it be that he was being pressured by creditors again?
