Chapter 137 Don't Let Me Catch You Cheating

This year's final exams were taken very seriously by the entire university, with all eyes focused on the 2018 cohort of Economics and Business School students. Each exam room was invigilated by three teachers, and before the exams began, a dedicated teacher stood guard at the door to check for any students carrying cheat sheets or writing answers on their arms.

"It's all over, it's all over, it's all over." Meng Shen threw all the cheat sheets into the trash can with a bitter expression: "Every year the school turns a blind eye, why is it so strict this year? This is almost like the college entrance examination."

Su Li raised her chin, pointed at the girl standing at the door, and said, "To prevent me from cheating."

"Ha, you guys are all just looking for trouble when you have nothing better to do." Meng Shen scoffed. "If you were serious, you could change the top student in the grade."

Wu Pinglan, who was carrying the test papers, overheard this and couldn't help but roll her eyes. Did they think the top student in the grade was a cabbage in a field?

"There are five minutes left before the exam. Students, hurry up! Don't even think about entering the exam room at the last minute. No matter what, the teachers will do a thorough and careful job of supervision and will never tolerate any cheating."

After a pause, Wu Pinglan glanced at Yu Wan with disdain and said sarcastically, "If you cheat, no matter who you are or how powerful your family is, you will all be treated equally."

Meng Shen, with one hand in his pocket, defiantly raised his head: "What does the teacher mean?"

Looking at the two good-for-nothing school bullies in front of her, Wu Pinglan said with a sneer, "It's nothing. I'm just reminding Yu that if you're not good at studying, don't stay on campus and continue to harm other students. It's no good for anyone."

"Tsk, the teacher is really meddling." Meng Shen raised an eyebrow and retorted, "I would also like to remind the teacher that if you don't have good character, you shouldn't stay on campus and harm other students."

Wu Pinglan never expected Meng Shen to so bluntly criticize her in front of everyone, accusing her of moral failings. Her face flushed with anger, and she pointed at Meng Shen's nose, saying, "You'd better not fall into my hands... Ah!"

Suddenly a sharp pain shot through her, and she jerked her hand back.

A 2B pencil rolled to the ground.

"Sorry, my hand slipped." Yu Wan bent down to pick up the pencil and said without much emotion.

Wu Pinglan noticed that her wrist was red and swollen, with some bruises. She immediately raised her voice and screamed, "You, you did this on purpose!"

She's truly a piece of social trash, daring to even hit a teacher. If we keep this cancer in Jiangda University, she'll ruin the atmosphere sooner or later.

"Teachers should provide evidence when they speak." Yu Wan tilted her head slightly and said lazily, "If all else fails, we can check the surveillance footage."

Wu Pinglan choked, almost unable to catch her breath, her chest feeling extremely tight. Seeing Yu Wan's confident attitude, she knew perfectly well that even if they checked the surveillance footage, they wouldn't find anything.

Are we just supposed to swallow this bitter pill?

She was unwilling to accept it!

Many students, already drawn by the gossip, gathered around. Other teachers, fearing it would create a bad atmosphere, quickly stepped in to smooth things over, saying, "Teacher Wu, the exam is about to start in three minutes. Let the students go in first, and we can talk about other things after it's over."

Wu Pinglan glared at him, her lips moved slightly, and she spat out in a very low voice, "Capitalist lackey." She clearly thought that the teacher had come to help Yu Wan.

The teacher who tried to help but was instead rejected: "..."

"Yu Wan, I'll be keeping a close eye on you." Wu Pinglan said this, then walked into the examination room with her head held high and her high heels swaying.

Damn it, you're fucking insane!

It needs to be treated!

Meng Shen frowned deeply, rolled up his sleeves, and rushed forward, intending to continue arguing with her.

Yu Wan grabbed her arm and sneered, "Let her be smug for a couple of days, then she'll feel the real pain in her face."

Meng Shen's tense body slowly relaxed: "You're right, let her gloat for a couple of days."

-

The first exam was on econometrics.

Yu Wan's seat was in the middle of the first row, so she could see the surveillance camera as soon as she looked up. She twirled her pencil, a playful smile appearing on her lips.

These people really went to great lengths to prevent her from cheating. But this arrangement was actually a good thing for her, at least it reduced a lot of unnecessary disputes after the results came out.

The official exam bell rang.

After the exam papers were handed out, Yu Wan first filled in her student ID number on the answer sheet before scanning the papers. There were twenty multiple-choice questions at the beginning, five short-answer questions, and two case analysis questions at the end.

This year's questions were extremely difficult, full of traps, and it was easy to answer incorrectly if you weren't careful. The case analysis section, in particular, directly used some international financial cases from the end of last year; if you hadn't been following financial news, you simply wouldn't have been able to answer them.

Many students at the scene had already started working on the test paper, but Yu Wan was still reviewing the questions.

Seeing this, Wu Pinglan felt endless contempt: Analyzing the questions? She's probably reading some astronomy book, just putting on an act. She'll be crying when the exam results come out.

Yu Wan remained calm and unhurried, spending about ten minutes reviewing the questions while calculating the answers and mentally estimating her score. Only after thoroughly understanding the entire paper did she slowly begin answering the questions.

However, she answers questions very quickly, especially multiple-choice questions, where she can almost determine the answer with just a glance.

A teacher noticed this and came over to glance at her answer sheet. He saw that she had filled in many "C"s on the multiple-choice questions and couldn't help but shake his head. Choosing "C"s was typical of a poor student; it was a shame he still had even a sliver of hope for Yu Wan.

Wu Pinglan, needless to say, had her eyes practically rolling to the sky, so much so that she didn't even pay attention when she saw Yu Wan filling out the answer sheet completely.

Half an hour before the end of the exam, Yu Wan stopped writing and handed in her paper.

The chief proctor frowned: "Student, would you like to check it again?"

Yu Wan slowly raised her head and said politely, "Thank you, teacher, but no need."

Most teachers prefer well-behaved and polite students, so the chief proctor's expression softened considerably, and his prejudice lessened.

"Paying it sooner or later, or not paying it back, makes no difference," Wu Pinglan couldn't help but sneer.

The chief proctor frowned even more and said critically, "Ms. Wu, this is an examination room. Watch your attitude."

Wu Pinglan's face burned, and she glared at Yu Wan resentfully.

Yu Wan met her gaze with a half-smile, and waved the 2B pencil in her hand.

Wu Pinglan's eye twitched, and she immediately felt the pain in the back of her hand again.

As soon as Yu Wan turned on her phone after leaving the exam room, several messages appeared on the screen.

[Old Man Yu: Daughter, good luck on your exam. Relax, no matter how you do, you'll always be Dad's most beloved daughter. When you come home after your last exam, Dad will personally cook you a pot of chicken soup to help you recover.]

[Teacher Rong: Just do your best, leave the rest to the teacher. Don't feel pressured.]

[Huang San: Go, Sister Yu!]

[Unknown number: Sister, hang in there.]

...

The last message indicated that five minutes earlier, someone seemed to have anticipated that she would hand in her paper early.

[Tang Gou: After you finish the exam, go straight out of the school gate. I'll be waiting for you at the cake shop next door.]

Yu Wan replied to each one, and the corners of her mouth couldn't help but curl up slightly.
