Chapter 177 Why Don't You Break Up with Tang Yue?

"Bang!"

The glass shattered into pieces.

Even as the car was about to crash, Tang Yue had already leaped over the table, grabbed Yu Wan's hand, and dodged to the side.

A strong gust of air rushed towards him, and he instinctively pulled her into his arms, one hand around her waist and the other protecting the back of her head.

The two of them fell to the ground.

A deafening roar, accompanied by the rumble of a car engine, assaulted our eardrums with lightning speed.

Yu Wan's mind went blank for a moment.

When I came to my senses, I was immediately met with a pair of worried eyes.

She saw Tang Yue's mouth opening and closing, as if he was saying something, but she couldn't hear it at all.

-

Red and blue lights flashed, and a cordon was set up at the scene.

"It's best to keep the wound dry for a week to avoid scarring," the doctor advised as he tied a knot in the bandage.

Yu Wan hummed in agreement and politely said, "Thank you."

A sharp pain shot through my right thigh; it had been cut by broken glass. Paramedics cleaned the wound, applied medication, and it wasn't serious enough to require stitches.

Meng Shen turned pale with fright and said with lingering fear, "Luckily, you're all alright."

"Where's Tang Yue? How is he?" Yu Wan looked around but didn't see him.

In that split second, Tang Yue caught her just in time and held her tightly in his arms. She was only injured in the leg, but his back was covered in shards of glass, a horrifying sight.

“He was wearing a protective vest under his shirt. The doctor checked him over and said he was fine. He should be giving a statement at the police station now.” Meng Shen’s eyes reddened. “But you were so badly injured. What if something had happened to you…”

Thinking of her incurable terminal illness, Meng Shen choked up, his voice stuck in his throat, and turned away to wipe his face.

Damn it.

Why is the sandstorm so strong today?

The atmosphere fell silent for a moment.

"Pah, pah, pah, stop cursing me." Yu Wan's eyebrows curved into a smile, and she raised her other uninjured foot to lightly kick his leg. Her eyes were slightly upturned, exuding a wicked and arrogant air: "Don't worry, I'll live to be a hundred years old and be a playboy for life. I won't die."

Meng Shen retorted, "What a joke! Who's afraid of you dying? If you die, I'll set off firecrackers for ten days and ten nights to celebrate."

"Tsk tsk, Young Master Meng is really generous. We have an agreement, so don't go back on your word later."

"I'm still hosting a banquet, whoever tries to cheat is a dog."

The two engaged in a heated argument, exchanging words back and forth. The surrounding doctors and police officers were speechless.

-

After taking your statement, Tang Yue walked over and asked, "Which hotel are you staying at now? Take out your luggage, and I'll take you to another safe place."

“We didn’t bring any luggage,” Meng Shen explained. “The original plan was to go back tonight.”

Tang Yue stared at the bandages on Yu Wan's legs and frowned slightly: "If we go back now, Uncle Yu will definitely worry. Let's go back in a few days."

Yu Wan nodded. The old man would not only be worried, but he would probably also force her to undergo a full-body check-up and then confine her to a month-long house.

She raised her chin and pointed in the direction of the truck: "What's going on over there?"

Tang Yue: "The driver was driving under the influence of alcohol and died on the spot. There was no malfunction in the vehicle's components. Further investigation is needed to determine the specific details."

After a moment's hesitation, Yu Wan asked, "Is it related to those people?"

"I don't know yet." Tang Yue's phone suddenly rang at that moment. He glanced at the screen and his expression turned serious. "Wait a moment, I need to take this call."

After he left, Meng Shen secretly asked, "Who were those people? Could they be Tang Yue's creditors and enemies?"

Last time it was a shooting, this time it's a truck crash, what about next time?

Meng Shen said with great concern, "Why don't you two break up? Dating is like playing with your life. Dad is worried sick every day."

"..." Yu Wan was so angry that she kicked him again.

“I’m serious,” Meng Shen said anxiously. “Although I don’t understand what earth-shattering thing Tang Yue is up to, we’re just ordinary people who just want to live a peaceful life. Don’t you want to continue being a playboy? Then don’t get involved.”

Yu Wan pursed her lips and gazed intently into his eyes: "I'm sorry, I can't extricate myself now."

The S organization may already be targeting her; the attack on Jiang Da last time was the best proof. So severing ties with Tang Yue won't solve the problem. She must now become stronger, prove her greater value to those bigwigs, and thus be able to protect Old Man Yu, and protect him as well.

The upcoming 3T Challenge will be a great opportunity.

“Don’t blame Tang Yue. He had already secretly sent people to protect us a long time ago. Besides,” Yu Wan turned her head, looking at Tang Yue’s back not far away, her eyebrows slightly raised, “it was me who insisted on provoking him time and time again.”

Meng Shen scratched his hair in frustration, paced back and forth, and finally seemed to have made a decision. He stopped, put his hands in his pockets, and laughed, "I've never done anything this important before, count me in."

"No way," Yu Wan refused outright.

Meng Shen's eyes darted around, then he nodded: "I'll listen to you."

Upon hearing this, Yu Wan not only didn't feel relieved, but became even more vigilant. What was this guy planning to do?

-

at the same time.

The call Tang Yue received was from Yan Lin.

"...After identity verification, the driver is the person we were looking for who infiltrated the capital."

The trail went cold again, but it raised a series of new questions. For example, why did he come to the capital? Who were his accomplices? Was this incident a premeditated murder or a warning?

"Xiao Yue, perhaps the S organization wants to stop you from going there. The worst-case scenario is that our plans have been exposed, and the higher-ups... may want to terminate the mission."
