Chapter Forty-Three: Dream

I don't know if it was because I was unfamiliar with the bed or for some other reason, but I tossed and turned all night and couldn't sleep soundly.

She dreamed about being in first grade.

When she got home from school, she opened the door and saw Xiao Ling sitting on the sofa with a violin in her arms, her eyes red and she seemed lost in thought.

"Mom?" She vaguely sensed some unease in her dream.

Hearing the noise, Xiao Ling turned around and glanced back, her expression a mixture of panic and sadness. She beckoned to her, gesturing for her to come over: "Wanwan, come here."

She walked over and stopped.

Xiao Ling had already put down her violin, placed her hands on Wanwan's shoulders, and hesitated for a long time, unsure how to begin. Finally, she made up her mind: "Wanwan, you support Mom's dream, right?"

In her dream, she nodded blankly, saying with joy and anticipation, "Mom is so amazing, she will definitely stand on the international stage."

As if a huge weight had finally been lifted from her heart, Xiao Ling breathed a sigh of relief and hugged her tightly.

"I hope one day you will understand me..."

The footage became somewhat fragmented afterward, until it shifted to that day.

The empty house was now empty except for her and Old Man Yu.

With tears welling up in her eyes, she held them back and asked him softly, "Is it because Wanwan is disobedient that Mommy doesn't want me anymore?"

Old Man Yu, his eyes red, shook his head: "How could that be? Our Wanwan is the most well-behaved little princess in the world."

Who was the man who took her away?

After a long pause, Old Man Yu finally spoke, "...it's someone who can help her realize her dream."

His tone was full of bitterness and mockery.

"Wanwan, I really hope you won't be as smart as her in the future. You're all I have left, don't let you leave like your mother..."

She parted her lips slightly and saw tears streaming down the face of the usually strong and imposing Old Man Yu.

I was deeply shocked at that moment.

-

I woke up a little late the next day.

She touched the pillow and found it was a little damp. She paused, her expression shifting several times. Then she scoffed softly and got up to wash.

As expected, Yu Wan's eyes in the mirror were slightly red and swollen, so she had to ask the hotel manager to bring up ice packs and lazily leaned back on the sofa to apply them to her eyes for a while.

The phone kept vibrating.

The messages on the screen were all from Meng Shen, urging her to hurry down.

Yu Wan frowned and said "okay". After slowly applying light makeup and getting ready, another hour passed.

As soon as she stepped downstairs, the elevator doors opened, and Yu Wan stiffened for a moment upon seeing the person standing outside. But only for a fleeting instant before she lazily averted her gaze and continued walking.

“Yu Wan, I came here specifically to see you.” Feng Hanjin blocked her way and suggested, “It’s not convenient to talk here, how about we find somewhere to have a cup of coffee?”

Yu Wan glanced at the two bodyguards behind her without changing her expression, lowered her head slightly, and said in a cold and indifferent voice: "These two people you brought are all show and no substance; they can't beat me."

Feng Hanjin was stunned, and it took her a while to realize what she meant. Her face flushed slightly, and she waved her hand to explain, "I... I didn't bring them here to threaten you, I just..."

She didn't know how to explain it properly. The Feng family was one of the top wealthy families, and Xiao Ling was famous with many fans. The concert was approaching, and the bodyguards were only responsible for protecting her safety. But she dared not explain, afraid of touching Yu Wan's sensitive spot.

Yu Wan scoffed.

She turned slightly to the side and brushed past Feng Hanjin.

"Mom really wants you to go..." In her anxiety, Feng Hanjin reached out to grab Yu Wan, but Yu Wan instinctively avoided her. Looking up, she met a pair of cold, dark eyes and unconsciously held her breath.

Those cold eyes held a chilling sharpness. Yu Wan raised an eyebrow, her voice indifferent and aloof: "Don't come looking for me again. My mother died a long time ago."

Like a thunderclap, Feng Hanjin slowly opened her eyes wide. She stared blankly as she left, her nerves still taut until her figure disappeared from sight.

"Miss, should we go after her?" one of the bodyguards asked. Even as a grown man, he was still shaken. That young girl's aura was truly formidable, almost on par with the head of the Feng family.

Feng Hanjin shook her head and sighed, "She probably won't go."

Perhaps because they share some of the same blood, recalling Yu Wan's appearance just now, his heart inexplicably ached.

"Yun Chu, look, look! Isn't that Feng Hanjin?" Wang Minlin raised her voice, her face flushed with excitement. "I've seen her in the news. She's the daughter of violin master Ellen Shaw."

Many people looked in the direction of the sound.

Ji Yun Chu frowned slightly, subtly concealing the impatience and disdain in her eyes. Noticing Feng Han Jin looking in their direction, she smiled brightly and went to greet her gracefully: "Ms. Feng, I am Ji Yun Chu. We met once last year at the Chinese Violin Finals."

Upon her reminder, Feng Hanjin immediately remembered: "I remember you got first place."

Xiao Ling was a special guest at that competition. She accompanied the participants and was very impressed by this beautiful girl with superb violin skills. Looking across China, there are very few people who can play the violin so well.

Ji Yun Chu smiled, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks.

It looks simple and beautiful.

Feng Hanjin's goodwill towards her increased, and she politely inquired, "Are you here in Liaocheng for sightseeing?"

Before Ji Yun Chu could answer, Wang Min Lin interjected, "We're here to hear Ellen Shaw's solo concert. I'm a huge fan of hers, and I was wondering if we could ask you to help us get her autograph. It would be even better if we could take a picture together."

Feng Hanjin frowned slightly.

A dark glint flashed across Ji Yun Chu's eyes. Although Wang Min Lin was a bit stupid, she had to admit that she was quite useful at times. For example, if Wang Min Lin was uncomfortable saying something, she could get her to say it with just a little guidance.

She smiled apologetically at Feng Hanjin: "Minlin is a huge fan of Ms. Ellen Xiao, and her room is covered with her posters. It's no wonder she's a little excited about meeting her idol soon."

Wang Minlin glanced gratefully at her best friend and said somewhat shyly, "I even set up a fan club specifically for Ellen at Jiang University."

"Are you students from Jiang University?" Feng Hanjin's brows relaxed again upon hearing this. After a pause, she asked, "Are you familiar with Yu Wan?"

How did Feng Hanjin come to know Yu Wan?

Ji Yun Chu's eyes flickered, and she slightly pinched her palm. Afraid that Wang Min Lin would mess things up, she spoke first, "Of course we know each other. We almost performed in the same play not long ago."

Wang Minlin was somewhat puzzled, but she knew it was best not to speak at this time.

Feng Hanjin's gaze softened as she looked at them, and she took the initiative to invite them, "How about we find a coffee shop to chat? I'll take you to the scene tonight..."
