Chapter Seventy-Seven: Offering Oneself in Return

Some are happy, some are sad.

Chen Xia tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Thinking about what had happened the night before, her heart pounded like a drum, so fierce it felt like it might leap out of her throat. Even now, she felt dazed. Such incredible luck! She had actually caught Ellen Shaw's eye and been offered a contract—a priceless opportunity that so many people would kill for!

My thoughts involuntarily drifted into memories.

Chen Xia chased them backstage and saw the D.song band members surrounded by a large group of people. Jealousy twisted her beautiful face into a grimace. Resentful, she returned to the rehearsal room, determined to demand an explanation.

The rehearsal room was empty, with a few sheet music scattered on the table.

The handwriting on the score is clean, elegant, and sharp.

It's clearly not from any of the band members in D.song, so it must be the mysterious person wearing the devil mask.

Chen Xia let out a disdainful snort, her mind racing. She then began searching the room to see if she could find any other useful information.

Soon, she found a violin score in the pocket of a black baseball jacket.

Chen Xia's beautiful eyes widened in surprise.

My goodness, this is an original piece!

Just looking at it makes a beautiful melody involuntarily pop into my mind...

The other party may not have copied it down yet. In a few days, it will be the day for Jiangda Theater to recruit. If she can use this piece to apply, she will definitely stand out.

She pursed her lips tightly, struggling violently, but finally succumbed to her inner greed, looked around, and stuffed the sheet music into her pocket.

Perhaps feeling guilty, Chen Xia dared not linger any longer and hurriedly left the rehearsal room. Unfortunately, she ran into members of the D.song band at the corner, which frightened her so much that she turned and ran away.

"Hmph, she's smart enough to know her place, otherwise I would have made her pay." The keyboardist clenched his fists angrily.

Yan Ge sneered, "Forget it, I'll learn from this experience. I'll pretend I don't know this person from now on."

Everyone else nodded in agreement.

"By the way, I just heard people shouting Chen Xia's name from below the stage. What should we do about this?" the drummer asked worriedly. "We can't let her get away with this."

The band manager adjusted his glasses and said, "Don't worry, leave it to me. I just received a lot of calls inviting us to perform, so you all need to get back to rehearsals. Also, I'll be recruiting a new violinist."

Upon hearing this, everyone's shoulders slumped. In their hearts, no one could compare to Yu Wan, but it was clearly impossible for her to join the band.

Unbeknownst to them, Chen Xia had already obtained Zhang Hong's phone number under the guise of the "Devil Mask Violin".

"No, we absolutely cannot let them find out the truth." Chen Xia's face turned pale. Unconsciously, she thought of the piece she had almost mastered. She suddenly got up from the bed, her gaze gradually turning cold.

She was determined to win!

Along the west coast of Country M, there is a scenic highway that winds its way from north to south, connecting San Francisco and Los Angeles, stretching for a thousand kilometers. To the left is the boundless blue ocean, with the Pacific waves crashing against the shore, while to the right are steep, verdant cliffs, creating a breathtaking landscape.

Bathed in the warm sunshine and with the sea breeze blowing, the Lamborghini Reventon, like the F-22 fighter jet it imitates, is domineering and sharp, sweeping across the road.

This wasn't Yu Wan's first trip along California's Highway 1, but Reventon offered a unique and unparalleled sensory experience.

With the addition of drone aerial photography, the entire shot is so beautiful it's like a Hollywood romance movie.

As the sun set in the evening, they sat at the Bay Restaurant at Fisherman's Wharf, watching the sun slowly sink into the sea, feeling a sense of peace and sweetness.

This is their fifth day in California, and they will be returning home tomorrow.

Yu Wan suddenly felt a pang of reluctance, and even occasionally had the urge to travel the world with Tang Yue. However, there were still many things waiting for her to do in Jiangcheng, and many responsibilities, as did Tang Yue's.

“Signature Hot Chocolate,” the waiter suddenly called out, interrupting her thoughts.

Tang Yue nodded and smiled gently, "Thank you."

The waitress, a young woman, felt a jolt in her heart and immediately blushed, saying, "My pleasure."

Tang Yue placed the cup in front of Yu Wan.

Yu Wan rested her chin on her hand, glancing at the hot chocolate with a somber expression. She looked up in confusion, silently asking, "Why are you giving it to me?"

She has never liked sweets, and chocolate is fattening. She's not the kind of girl who can eat whatever she wants without gaining weight; to maintain her figure, besides paying attention to her diet, she also goes to the gym to exercise from time to time.

Tang Yue explained, "There's no brown sugar water here, but hot chocolate is the same. Chocolate is high in calories and can improve blood circulation, which can reduce the contraction of smooth muscles and the spasms of capillaries."

He spoke earnestly, his eyes were clear, and he appeared upright. Although he used many medical terms, a careful listener could understand the implied meaning, which eased much of the awkwardness.

Yu Wan felt a warmth in her heart.

Perhaps it was because she had been exposed to the wind all afternoon, but her lower abdomen was slightly bloated and painful, which caused her face to turn slightly pale and her appetite to be poor.

She hadn't told Tang Yue about her period, but she never expected him to be so attentive, and even...

Yu Wan's face flushed with embarrassment and shame. Urged on by his gaze, she had no choice but to take a few sips, but then, unable to swallow her pride, she deliberately complained, "Too sweet, it tastes awful."
