Chapter Seventy-Three: Band Members

The backstage area is empty.

Aside from the performers of the next act, almost everyone crowded to the sides of the stage to watch Xiao Ling and Ji Yun Chu's performance up close. Therefore, the arrival of Yu Wan and the others went unnoticed, which suited her perfectly.

The band members were all called to a separate classroom: two bassists, a drummer, a keyboardist, and the band manager—four people in total. They had all received a message from lead singer Yan Ge, and their faces were grim; the atmosphere in the room was as heavy as ice.

"well……"

Sighs rose and fell.

"I was strongly against Chen Xia joining, but what did you say? Give her a chance. Now look what happened! She ran away at the last minute, how can the show continue?" The drummer was a petite girl with a cute appearance but an incredibly fiery personality.

The band manager patiently advised, "Yan Ge has already found a replacement; perhaps they can still salvage the situation."

Before he could finish speaking, the keyboardist interrupted him: "Even if the people Sister Yan found are very talented, the band needs a long time to gel, and it's not something you can just pull in any random person."

Everyone fell silent. Playing in a band isn't about individual skill, but about the chemistry between members. They had spent half a year with Chen Xia before they could barely find any chemistry, let alone newcomers.

After a long pause, the band manager sighed, "At worst, we'll just remove the violin solo. In any case, I won't let everyone's hard work go to waste."

Everyone was dejected upon hearing this, but they knew it was the last resort.

"Click"

The door lock suddenly turned, and all eyes turned to look. Yan Ge strode in, her expression indescribable.

"Yan Ge, did the people you asked come along?"

"Sister Yan, who is she? Do we know each other?"

"Sister Yan..."

Yan Ge pursed her lips: "Yes, you all know each other." She paused, then clapped her hands first and said, "Let's welcome our newest member, Yu Wan."

Everyone: "..."

You're hallucinating, aren't you?

Isn't Yu Wan the school bully?

She's coming to play the violin? Are you kidding me? I'll be lucky if she doesn't ruin the show.

But.

Yan Ge's expression was too serious, and her unfocused pupils seemed to have not yet recovered from the shock.

The next second.

The legendary bully of Jiangda University appeared before them, one hand in her pocket, her expression lazy and arrogant.

Looking at the group of terrified alumni, Yu Wan raised her delicate eyebrows and said succinctly, "I am your substitute violinist."

Everyone: "..." Really?

Everyone: "!!!" This is actually true!

I can't take it anymore, someone slap me!

Is this a dream?

Before they could react, a handsome and gentle man followed them in. He smiled slightly as a greeting, and in an instant, like a spring breeze, he soothed the fear in everyone's hearts.

"Senior Tang!" One of the guitarists pointed at Tang Yue and fell to the ground with a thud.

Tang Yue was a prominent figure at Jiangnan University; even today, his photo and introduction can still be seen in the school magazine or on the library walls. He achieved straight A+ grades in all subjects for four years, ranking first in the entire university, and organized student groups to win gold medals in numerous domestic and international student projects—truly a legendary figure.

How did he end up with the school bully? Is the rumor true? That Ji Yun Chu... what a messy love triangle!

"Ahem..." Yan Ge cleared her throat twice, raising her fist to her lips, drawing everyone's attention back: "Let's not delay, let's start practicing together!"

Yu Wan said, "You guys go through the rehearsals first. My piano is on its way and should arrive in about ten minutes."

Ten minutes? That's less than five minutes before the game starts. Is there any time left to practice? No way! A dark cloud immediately settled over everyone's hearts, but they dared not contradict her because of Yu Wan's deeply ingrained image as the school bully.

Sigh, at worst we'll just have to give up the performance. They clenched their fists reluctantly.

Yu Wan knew that the band members didn't believe in her, so she didn't offer any pointless explanations. She figured the truth would come when the violin arrived.

The atmosphere became incredibly gloomy.

"No matter what, let's rehearse a few times first." The band manager tried to encourage everyone: "Yan Ge, you guys rehearse, I'll explain the pieces for this performance to Yu, the student at the school."

Yan Ge nodded and said, "That's right. If we can't make it in time, we'll just go on stage ourselves."

The others subconsciously looked at Yu Wan, and seeing that she did not object and insisted on going on stage, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

After calming the band members down, the band manager came over with a stack of documents: "Yu, this is the sheet music. Besides the ensemble, there will be a violin solo after the first part..."

He spoke very seriously, and Yu Wan listened very carefully. Unconsciously, the band manager's tense body relaxed.

After listening to the rehearsal once, Yu Wan pondered for a moment and marked a note on the score: "The violin is too slow in this part. The harmony would be best in the fourth measure."

The band manager's eyes lit up. He hadn't expected Yu Wan to know so much about music; perhaps there really was still hope. He nodded, his brow furrowing. "That's what we thought before, but Chen Xia... the original violinist always had a hard time getting into character, so we moved it to the later part. This section really tests basic technique; it's easy to crack the notes."

Yu Wan said, "I'll enter from here in a bit, and there's still this section..."

She probably didn't realize that once she got into a serious work mode, all her languid state vanished, and her expression was full of unrestrained and flamboyant confidence.

Tang Yue's eyes were filled with a deep smile; the girl in front of him was born to be so dazzling.
