Chapter Sixty-Eight: Rumors Confirmed

Feng Jingyao didn't say anything. As he looked out the window, he just passed by Yu Wan and the others.

The girl had her hands in her pockets, her delicate features exuding a wild and unrestrained air. She didn't seem approachable at all, and she wasn't someone who could be easily manipulated.

The handsome man standing beside her was gentle, refined, and elegant.

Suddenly, Tang Yue seemed to sense someone spying on him. He glanced sideways, his clear eyes sharp and cold as frost.

Feng Jingyao's fingers tightened.

The car has already driven to the front.

"What's wrong?" Yu Wan looked up and saw a car in front of her with a Liaocheng license plate. She suddenly remembered seeing Feng Hanjin on the street yesterday, and her heart tightened slightly.

Tang Yue quickly regained his usual gentle smile and shook his head: "It's okay, let's hurry up and go. Your principal is urging me. If we're any later, he'll be furious and nag me for two or three years."

Yu Wan thought of the serious, gray-haired man who usually didn't smile, and for a moment she couldn't connect him with the image of the old man next door that Tang Yue had described.

and……

She frowned.

The Tang family's background was much stronger than she had imagined, so why did they go bankrupt so easily back then?

-

A long red carpet was laid out at the entrance of the auditorium, and a dozen or so men in suits stood outside. They were handsome and exuded an air of nobility and composure, attracting the attention of many women. The most eye-catching man was the handsome one who was surrounded and flattered in the center.

The man was Gao Lingchuan. He was listening to the flattery from the person next to him with a bored expression. When he looked up, his eyes were immediately fixed on the person in front of him, and his breathing became heavy.

"Hey, isn't that Tang Yue? How dare he show his face?"

The gasps couldn't hide the schadenfreude in their exclamations, and everyone turned to look. Tang Yue and Yu Wan had already reached the bottom of the long steps, both dressed casually in black baseball jackets and blue jeans. However, their striking good looks made them look like celebrities walking the red carpet.

Soon, someone laughed maliciously: "What is Tang Yue wearing? It's cheap stuff from a street stall, hahaha."

"Didn't he get on the Yu family's good side? He can't even afford a suit, and he's still wearing sneakers."

"You guys don't know anything. The shoes he's wearing are the classic Air Jordan Freedom Wings. There are only 23 pairs in the world, and they cost at least 100,000 yuan."

Upon hearing this, the crowd fell silent for a moment, with most expressing skepticism. A pair of sneakers selling for 100,000? That can't be real, can it?

"It might be a counterfeit."

"Perhaps Tang Yue has really caught Yu Wan's eye."

"Aren't those two mortal enemies?"

"What a joke! If Yu Wan wasn't head over heels in love with Tang Yue, would she have spent 100 million yuan to buy him a private jet?"

Everyone fell silent again, not only because of those words, but also because the person in question had already stepped forward.

Yu Wan glanced at them indifferently, then looked away without any interest. Looking at those evasive eyes, it was clear they were gossiping behind her back.

She was more curious about Tang Yue's attitude.

This group of people is different from the纨绔公子弟 (spoiled young masters) like Meng Shen. They are all business elites who were directly or indirectly trampled underfoot by Tang Yue, as different as heaven and earth. But now that the Tang family is in trouble, their status has been completely reversed. The ants who were once looked down upon have become high and mighty beings. How will they feel?

Yu Wan glanced sideways.

Seeing Tang Yue's indifferent expression and lack of emotional fluctuation, she couldn't tell if she was more disappointed by his failed attempt to watch the show, or...

She inexplicably relaxed.

As the two passed each other, someone stepped forward, blocking Tang Yue's path, and asked with ill intent, "Mr. Tang, it's been a long time. Where have you been making your fortune lately? You look radiant and beautiful; you seem to be doing quite well."

The phrase "fair-skinned and beautiful" is rarely used to describe men, and it is clearly a veiled mockery of Tang Yue as a gigolo who lives off a woman.

Yu Wan frowned and glanced at him sideways.

The man couldn't help but shiver. When he followed the gaze, Yu Wan had already looked away, so he didn't notice anything unusual. He took a few deep breaths to calm his racing heart.

"Who are you?" Tang Yue asked in a flat tone, revealing no emotion.

"..." The other party's mouth twitched, his face immediately darkened like the bottom of a pot, and he said through gritted teeth, "President Tang, you really have a bad memory. Two years ago, I brought Taihua's cooperation proposal to Tang's to find you. I sat on the cold bench downstairs for a whole week. President Tang still owes me an explanation."

Tang Yue pondered for a dozen seconds, then suddenly said, "I remember now, you were the person in charge of the Taihua project at Shengping Group? Sorry, I thought that project proposal was done by an intern." His tone was flat and indifferent, as arrogant and disdainful as ever.

A brief silence followed.

"puff!"

Some people couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"You..." The man's face turned pale and then red, and he clenched his fists. Just as he was about to say something, an impatient, cold female voice came from behind him.

"Noisy".

Yu Wan raised her chin: "Why waste time with some shady characters? Didn't you say Principal Shen was waiting for you so long he was practically cursing you out?"

All eyes immediately shifted to Yu Wan, each with their own thoughts. But one thing was certain: the rumors were true, Tang Yue had indeed gotten involved with the Yu family, and they would have to be extra careful from now on.

Tang Yue nodded with a smile on his face: "Okay, I'll listen to you."

It wasn't until the two entered the auditorium and Yu Wan called them "half-bastards" that they dared to utter a sound, spitting out a hateful spit: "If it weren't for her surname being Yu, I would make that bitch wish she were dead."

The others scoffed, thinking, "What kind of skill is it to shout now? He didn't dare utter a word before."

Gao Lingchuan's eyes darkened again as he glanced at him: "Let's talk about that development project from last time later." This kind of scum can be blacklisted from now on.

The man's face was ashen: "Mr. Gao, didn't we already have an agreement..."

-

After handing over the invitation at the door, the students from the etiquette department said warmly and respectfully, "Mr. Tang, Ms. Yu, let me take you in." Tang Yue was someone the principal had designated to receive with special attention, so they dared not neglect him.

The two weren't seated in the same spot, and Yu Wan paused, saying, "No need, you take him inside." If Old Man Yu saw them walking together, he'd be furious.

Tang Yue smiled and said, "I'll go see Uncle Chen first, and then I'll come find you later."

Yu Wan raised an eyebrow: "What do you want with me?"

“Sit together,” Tang Yue said matter-of-factly.

Just as the students from the etiquette department were about to say, "The seats are all assigned," Yu Wan had already declined, saying, "No, I'll leave after a little while." She wasn't interested in this kind of lecture; she was only here for Old Man Yu.

"Besides," she said with obvious disdain, "your face is quite eye-catching; taking you along would make you too conspicuous."

"..."

Tang Yue said, "Then call me when you leave, and I'll sneak out."

Yu Wan glanced at him, paused, said nothing, and lazily walked inside.
