Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Qi Chengchen arrived. He probably didn't like my messy hair. His face was ashen. He dragged me out of bed and told me to go wash my face. If I didn't get myself ready, he would break my legs.

What a fierce older brother.

He took me to meet my future sister-in-law. The two of them got along quite well, and I felt there was potential. That's great, I don't have to worry about Qi Chengchen anymore.

He wouldn't let me go home that night, but took me back to his hometown. He cooked a big table of my favorite dishes for me, and while we were eating, he asked me what kind of job I wanted to find.

"No need to rush into a decision, you can think about it first."

I held my chopsticks and looked him straight in the eye: "Brother, can I not work?"

"Okay, your brother can take care of you too."

"Just kidding, I'm already so old, don't worry. You should save your money to marry your sister-in-law, and your future nephews and nieces will also cost a lot of money."

Stop being sarcastic.

"I'm being very serious."

After meals, he wouldn't even let me wash the dishes. Before we got married, he always cooked and I would wash the dishes. If I didn't, he would twist my ear.

Just as I was going to bed, he pulled me aside, gave me a gentle hug, patted my head, and said, "Little sister, look ahead, okay?"

I patted him on the back and turned back to my room.

This room is still the same as before I moved in with you. Qi Chengchen is six years older than me. When I was in college, he had already been working for two years. He paid for most of my tuition and living expenses. He didn't allow me to work part-time for long periods of time. From childhood to adulthood, he has spent the most time, energy and money on me. I owe him too much, so much that I don't even know where to start to repay him. So I simply decided not to repay him. Anyway, he is my brother.

He only found out we'd been together for two months and then asked me to bring you home on May Day. I thought it wasn't the best time for you two to meet, so I didn't agree. Even after we got married, you two still fought. What could you do with him because he was the older brother? He's the only single guy in both families. Even my parents gave in to him because he was too rude when we got our marriage certificate. He's all-powerful.

Oh right, after you proposed to me, I didn't tell him right away, and he held a grudge against both of us.

On my birthday during my junior year, we went out to see a movie. After dinner, you walked me back to my dorm. When we reached the end of the road leading to the girls' dorm, you held my hand, your expression extremely unnatural, and your tongue was moving back and forth in your mouth.

Then he suddenly knelt down on one knee. Luckily, it was a fairly secluded intersection, and it was quite late, so there weren't many people around.

I was taken aback and looked down; my shoelaces weren't undone.

"Qi Chengheng, when are we getting married?"

You took a box out of your pocket, opened it, and looked up at me, asking a question.

The diamond ring on your hand is huge. If you buy it, will you be broke and unable to afford food?

"Don't get distracted... what's the answer?"

"I'll listen to you."

"...Hand, hold out your hand, put on the ring."

"Are your scholarship money and personal savings both empty?"

"......"

You stood up and put your arm around my waist, your tone a little annoyed: "Why doesn't this seem very romantic?"

I hugged your neck and pulled you down, my left hand tracing your neck and feeling your pulse. Thump, thump, thump, your heart was beating so fast, even faster than mine.

I leaned in and kissed him: "No, your heartbeat is so romantic."
