Chapter 25
I had some insomnia. I only slept for two hours before dawn. I dreamt that you went to do an internship in your senior year and didn't come back until the end of the semester.
During college, we were inseparable most of the time. Apart from our major courses, whether we were in class, in the cafeteria, or in the library, we rarely spent time apart after we started dating, and we often went out on dates during winter and summer breaks.
When your senior year internship ended, it was almost Chinese New Year. I went to pick you up from your internship location. The company was started by your senior, and you had invested all your savings early on, becoming a shareholder. This also helped you secure a job in the future, which shows great foresight.
Before we knew it, we were married. The scenes kept switching between the two periods, all about the little things between us, so many little things.
A few years ago, when you were having a bad day at work, you stayed up for two nights in a panic. I could tell what you had been up to just by looking at your bloodshot eyes.
The next day, when I put the bank card under your pillow, you angrily pinned me down in the bathroom and scolded me: "Is your man really that useless?! Is it worth handing over the entire purse strings for such a small thing?"
"How could that be? Jia-ge, you're the best. You're made of iron, you're indestructible."
You made me laugh out loud: "Bullshit, what are you bragging about?"
Finally, he snuggled into the crook of my neck and said, "I'll definitely go to bed early tonight, honey."
Thank you for your self-awareness. If you don't understand how important you are to me, that's my problem.
When I first started working, it was my first job, and I had no experience. It was a bit far from home, so you picked me up every day. One time, it was raining heavily, and I said I would take a colleague's car home and you didn't need to come. I emphasized "female colleague, female colleague, female colleague" three times. When I got home, you were still as jealous as if you had swallowed a vat of vinegar. I could eat a fresh batch of dumplings with that feeling.
After we became a couple in college, you kissed me first. I couldn't sleep for half the night after that. I felt like I could give you my whole heart.
When you were eating in the cafeteria, you saw me after buying your food, then turned around and abandoned your brothers to come find me. I heard that you were condemned by the whole dormitory when you got back and were ordered to bring your own food for three days to atone for your sins.
In your sophomore year, during a basketball game against the neighboring university, you made a game-winning three-pointer, and the whole stadium cheered. All your teammates rushed over to celebrate with you. Your bangs were soaked with sweat, but your eyes were clear and bright. You turned around to look for me in the stands and blew me a kiss while laughing.
...
Falling in love with you is like plunging into the vast ocean of stars. Every single thing about you is dazzling and captivating, the most precious treasure in my heart, and the one I rely on for the rest of my life.
