Chapter 31

Chapter 31

The weather was bad today, with thunder and lightning outside. When I got up, Jiang Jiang came up to me and acted cute. I took her to her cage and gave her a chew toy.

After sitting for a while, I couldn't resist going into the study and browsing through the wine cabinet. I picked up a bottle of white wine and just as I picked it up, I heard my phone ringing in the living room. I took the wine to answer the call without even seeing who was calling.

Who is it?

"Mrs. Jiang, hello. I am Mr. Jiang's colleague, Zheng Wenchang. We have met before."

Hello, is there anything I can help you with?

"The night-blooming cereus that President Jiang asked me to buy has arrived. Would you like to come and pick it up?"

My head was throbbing so badly that it took me a long time to remember that this was something.

"Madam Jiang? Madam Jiang? Are you listening?"

"Oh?...Yes, I'll pick it up in a bit, thank you."

I casually put the wine on the table, quickly changed my clothes, and rushed to your company.

Zheng Wenchang was waiting for me downstairs at the company. He was quite busy; he had just given me the epiphyllum flower and rushed back to the company.

The night-blooming cereus was quite large, so I found a car to take it to our house. I took the subway myself, hoping to get to my stop quickly, because my head started to hurt again.

When I got home, I specially moved a small low table to the French window and placed the epiphyllum there. It was very elegant, with the buds tightly closed. I wonder when it will bloom.

One of the flower buds was drooping quite low. I have a dog at home, so I let Jiang Jiang out, patted its head, pointed at the night-blooming cereus, and said to it, "Jiang Jiang, this flower was bought by Jia Nian. You're not allowed to mess with it, or you'll have to watch out for your dog legs."

I don't know if Jiangjiang understood, but it doesn't like being in the cage. As soon as I let it out, it excitedly goes to grab its toys, flapping its big tail.

I suddenly got interested and went over to play with it. It used all four paws at the same time and was very happy.

"Smack!"

I looked up and saw the white wine! I had completely forgotten about it. It was too late; Jiang Jiang bumped into the table while struggling and it shattered.

It knew it had made a mistake, and its tail immediately drooped down.

I was afraid it would step on the glass, so I put it back in its cage before cleaning up the broken glass.

The puppy was so nervous, its ears were practically sticking out. I opened the cage to let it out, and it darted to the entryway, pried open the shoe cabinet, grabbed your slippers, and started tearing them apart.

It has broken several vases before, and you always protected it. Now it's used to seeking your protection.

...

After dinner, I sat down in a chair, eagerly awaiting the blooming of the night-blooming cereus.

I was too impatient. I waited until midnight, but nothing changed, so I had to go to sleep.
