Chapter 8
It's raining outside. Qi En invited me to afternoon tea, but I declined.
Summer downpours can be quite frightening. This afternoon, I was watching a show on my laptop when the chandelier flickered twice and went out – the power was out.
Jiangjiang's fluffy body nuzzled over. I picked up my phone to check the residents' group chat and found out it was a technical issue that would be fixed soon. So I went back to playing on the computer and opened the game you downloaded. It was dazzling, and it was in English. Oh well.
The food I'm cooking is a little better now. It's very dark outside, with dark clouds overhead. Jiang Jiang is very hot, and the air conditioner is off.
The light coming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows was very weak; it was almost evening. I pushed Jiang Jiang away and went back to the bedroom, opened the wardrobe, and crawled inside. It was so comfortable to stay in a closed space on a rainy day.
Your clothes are still here, so I vacated my own clothes to make room for me to lie down.
I fell asleep, and when I woke up I found that your dark suit jacket, which I was using as a pillow, was wet. Is it okay if I don't wash it?
The power has been restored, and Jiang Jiang is scratching at the door again, so I took her downstairs for a walk.
The air is so fresh after the rain. We used to enjoy taking walks after the rain, and our neighbors used to gossip about it.
There was no one in the community garden. Jiang Jiang seemed unhappy; the scent it left on the tree roots after the rain was gone, and it was annoyed.
It started raining again halfway through the walk. Neither Jiangjiang nor I ran away. I put my coat on it, and the rain felt nice and cool on my face.
