Chapter 18 The Second Fan
Although there were many doubts, it seemed that they couldn't be explained clearly in the short term. After Lin Qiushi finished breakfast, he politely said that he wanted to go home because he hadn't fed the cat yet.
"Go ahead." Ruan Nanzhudao actually agreed to Lin Qiushi's request and said that he would find him on Friday and asked him to be prepared.
Lin Qiushi asked, "Does being prepared mean I'll have to enter those iron gates again on Friday?"
Ruan Nanzhu nodded calmly.
Thinking of the scene inside, the food in front of him lost its taste. After dinner, Ruan Nanzhu drove Lin Qiushi home as he had promised. The two of them didn't exchange much conversation the entire time. Only after Lin Qiushi got out of the car did Ruan Nanzhu say, "See you Friday."
Lin Qiushi nodded at him and thanked him gently.
Ruan Nanzhu drove away, and Lin Qiushi returned home.
When Li Zi saw Lin Qiushi coming back, he was still lying lazily on the sofa. He didn't move when Lin Qiushi called his name, but just slowly waved his tail to indicate that he understood.
Lin Qiushi took this opportunity to rush over and stroke it twice. Li Zi at least stopped dodging, but his attitude was still unenthusiastic.
Lin Qiushi: "Lizi, let daddy hug you again."
He had just reached out when Li Zi's hind legs lifted up and delivered a flying kick. Lin Qiushi, struck by the kick, shed tears of sorrow, knowing that for the time being he would no longer be able to receive Li Zi's favor.
The next day, Monday.
Lin Qiushi went to work as usual and told his boss again about his resignation.
When the boss heard that Lin Qiushi wanted to resign, he naturally tried every means to keep him and even promised on the spot that he could give Lin Qiushi a raise and promotion.
Lin Qiushi's attitude was resolute. If he had previously harbored reluctance and hesitation about this job, now he had no attachment at all. A dying man naturally wanted to do what he wanted to do. Lin Qiushi wasn't sure if he could make it out the next door, so he didn't want to waste his precious time on work.
Seeing that he couldn't persuade him, the boss could only look regretful and agreed to Lin Qiushi's resignation application.
Finally, he didn't have to work overtime every day. Lin Qiushi breathed a sigh of relief and decided to enjoy these precious few days.
The difference in people's mentality is fully reflected at this time. Some people are anxious while waiting, while others are enjoying the last moments.
Five days passed in a flash, and it was Friday night.
Lin Qiushi had also been to the library these past few days, researching a lot about the Philxia bird. But no matter how hard he looked, it was nothing more than a somewhat gory fairy tale, devoid of any useful information.
At eight o'clock on Friday evening, there was a knock on Lin Qiushi's door.
He walked to the door, opened it, and was stunned. He saw a very beautiful woman standing outside. She was wearing a long dress and light makeup. She looked like a typical classical beauty. She looked at Lin Qiushi with a calm expression, "Lin Qiushi?"
Lin Qiushi: "Holy crap! Ruan Nanzhu!"
Ruan Nanzhu: "Call me Ruan Baijie, thank you."
Lin Qiushi's eyes widened: "Why are you wearing women's clothes?"
Ruan Nanzhu: "Hobby."
Lin Qiushi: “…” Although Ruan Nanzhu had said before that it was just a hobby, he was still seriously shocked when he saw Ruan Nanzhu dressed like this.
As an honest man who was addicted to working overtime every day and had no idea what a cross-dresser was, Lin Qiushi opened the door to Ruan Nanzhu in a daze, his expression extremely sad.
"What's wrong with you?" Ruan Nanzhu said, "Do you know you're going to die soon?"
Lin Qiushi: "No, it's okay." He was so sad that he couldn't control his expression at all.
It was unknown who had applied Ruan Nanzhu's makeup, but his originally unfeminine appearance had now become rather pathetic. His every frown and smile was full of charm, and aside from his height and voice, no one could tell he was a man.
"Compared to life, dignity isn't that important." Ruan Nanzhu sat on the sofa in Lin Qiushi's house, and Li Zi jumped directly onto his lap. "Of course, I don't always do this. I've accepted this job this time."
"What kind of work?" Lin Qiushi looked at Ruan Nanzhu who was petting the cat with envy on his face... He also wanted to pet the cat.
Ruan Nanzhu: "Your eyes look very abnormal."
Lin Qiushi: “…Is there?”
Ruan Nanzhu: “Yes.”
Lin Qiushi shed tears of sorrow.
Ruan Nanzhu glanced at his watch again and told Lin Qiushi to change his clothes, preferably something he rarely wore. Lin Qiushi didn't ask why, but obediently changed. After he finished, Ruan Nanzhu told him, "It's best not to let the people in the game recognize you in real life."
"What do you mean?" Lin Qiushi said, "What will happen if they recognize me?"
Ruan Nanzhu: "You will know later."
After he said this, he said, "It's almost time, let's go out." Then he put down the chestnuts, stood up and walked to the door.
Lin Qiushi followed behind him. As he watched Ruan Nanzhu push open the door, he noticed a surprising shift in the scenery behind it. The ordinary corridor had vanished, and twelve cold iron doors appeared before their eyes. One of the iron doors was sealed with a blood-red seal. This door must have been the place Lin Qiushi had visited last time.
Seeing this scene for the second time, even though Lin Qiushi had prepared himself mentally, his heart still couldn't help but beat faster.
Ruan Nanzhu made a gesture of invitation, and Lin Qiushi began to try to open the iron door.
One door, two doors, until he was almost at the end, Lin Qiushi felt the handle loosen slightly, and the door that looked extremely heavy was pulled open by him with a creak.
Just like before, Lin Qiushi felt a powerful force as he opened the door, propelling him directly into the room. Then the scenery shifted, and before him appeared an isolated tall building.
The high-rise buildings were all surrounded by darkness. Only the building in front of him emitted a faint light, as if calling him over.
Lin Qiushi looked around but didn't see Ruan Nanzhu, nor was there anyone around him. After hesitating for a moment, Lin Qiushi walked towards the building in front of him.
After reaching the door, Lin Qiushi saw six or seven people gathered at the stairs. Some of them looked calm, while others seemed to be on the verge of collapse, and were loudly questioning something.
Lin Qiushi walked over and heard someone yelling, "Where is this place? Who are you? I'm calling the police!!"
Lin Qiushi instantly understood what had happened. This roaring man seemed to be entering the world inside the gate for the first time.
The author has something to say:
Lin Qiushi: You have a very special hobby.
Ruan Nanzhu: Yes, do you want to see my more special hobbies?
Lin Qiushi: No, no.
