Chapter 677 Moses agrees, and the Hebrews' departure is postponed

His voice trembled with anger and his eyes burned with unyielding fire.

"Four hundred years of slavery have become a heavy yoke we bear. How can you erase it so easily?"

Pharaoh's expression remained unchanged, and his tone remained calm and firm:

"Because the Hebrews were originally the property of the Egyptians. We saved your ancestors more than four hundred years ago. You cannot deny this."

"It was we who gave your ancestors shelter in times of crisis."

"How can you easily forget this kindness?"

Pharaoh said as a matter of course.

"Now is the time for you Hebrews to repay that ancient debt. This is destiny and a responsibility you cannot escape!"

Moses sneered when he heard this.

That smile contained both helplessness and indomitable spirit:

"Gratitude? After four hundred years of chains and whipping, that so-called gratitude has long been buried by the sands of time, turning into endless suffering and tears!"

"The sweat and tears our ancestors shed on this land are enough to drown out any hypocritical words of gratitude!"

Pharaoh shook his head slightly, a sly look flashing in his eyes:

"Moses, you are wrong. Although we have allowed you to endure physical labor, this 'favor' is a matter of life and death."

"According to the sacred laws of Egypt, every Hebrew had been saved by the Egyptian refuge in the hour of greatest distress, and one life for another was a fair exchange."

These words were like a bolt from the blue, leaving Moses stunned for a moment.

He opened his mouth, but found his throat dry and he couldn't find the words to refute.

There is indeed such an entry in Egyptian law.

Jin Shile stood aside and couldn't believe his ears.

His face turned pale and he whispered in disbelief:

"I have witnessed the shamelessness of the rulers!" It's really outrageous!

"To glorify four hundred years of slavery as a favor, could he not see the Hebrews who collapsed from overwork?"

Gao Chen frowned, his tone full of indignation:

"Not to mention the innocent newborns who were brutally restricted from living and drowned."

"That's part of Egypt's 'favor' to the Hebrews? That's absolutely ridiculous!"

Feng Feng observed silently from the side, a trace of worry flashing in his eyes:

"We have no say, but it looks like Moses has been convinced."

Not quite the opposite.

After a brief silence, Moses' eyes gradually regained clarity.

Even more determined than before.

He straightened his back and looked directly at Pharaoh with a sharp gaze:

“Ramesses, you may be able to restrain our bodies with laws and sophistry, but you can never deprive us of the desire and pursuit of freedom in our hearts!”

"Four hundred years of slavery have only made us understand more clearly that true kindness is to give people dignity and freedom, not endless suffering and oppression!"

"If you insist on pushing the fate of the Hebrew people to a dead end, and insist on paying with our blood, and refuse to give us freedom and a peaceful way out."

"Then let the wrath of the Heavenly Father continue to rage on your land of Egypt!"

"Let our suffering be an eternal mark in your heart, reminding you of true cruelty and injustice!"

Upon hearing this, Pharaoh Ramses frowned and quickly stretched out his arms, trying to calm the storm that was about to break out.

"No, calm down Moses! I'm not finished yet!"

"I, Ramses, as the Pharaoh of Egypt, have never thought of slaughtering innocent people."

“But the seven plagues you caused are like seven scars, deeply engraved on the land of Egypt and in the hearts of its people.”

"I have yielded, leaving it to you Hebrews to bear the consequences of the disaster you have caused and to repair the damage done to Egypt."

"Is this request too much? I didn't even ask you to compensate for every penny or grain of food lost!"

Jin Shile, who was standing by, couldn't help but sneer when he heard this.

The laughter was filled with mockery and disdain: "Oh, it's really high-sounding, but it's nothing but nonsense!"

“Heresy!”

He was about to curse.

But at this moment, Moses unexpectedly fell into deep thought.

After a moment, Moses slowly raised his head, with an indescribable light flashing in his eyes.

He nodded slightly, as if he had made a major decision.

"You have a point, Ramses."

"For the sake of peace and our future, I am willing to accept this condition."

Upon hearing this, Jin Shile was so shocked that he almost jumped up to protest.

"What?! How could Moses be fooled so easily? Isn't this clearly a disadvantage?"

"He's been bewitched by God's pua, so even Pharaoh can pua him?"

Seeing this, Feng Feng quickly restrained the excited Jin Shile and warned in a low voice:

"Calm down, don't get so jumpy! Now isn't the time to be impulsive. We need to listen carefully to their conversation, otherwise it will only cause more trouble."

A barely perceptible smile appeared on the corner of Pharaoh's mouth.

He knew that he had cleverly grasped Moses' psychological weakness and won the negotiation with wisdom rather than force.

Moses continued:

"Okay, I'll give you a week to let the Hebrews help you clean up the damaged crops and replant hope on this land."

"Hopefully this can be the first step towards reconciliation."

As the two sides reached an agreement, the tension in the air gradually dissipated.

In the afterglow of the sunset.

Moses and Pharaoh Ramses shook hands and made peace at the city gate, and then slowly separated with different feelings and purposes.

All of this was seen by Jin Shile and Feng Feng, who were hiding in the dark and watching with bated breath, feeling mixed emotions.

Jin Shile's jaw seemed to have lost its support and was almost dislocated in shock, his eyes full of disbelief.

"Has Moses really been completely brainwashed by God's rhetoric? So even Pharaoh can pua him?"

Upon hearing this, Mai Xuan curled up the corners of his mouth into a meaningful smile.

"Well, you know, that's a soul carved by God himself, a soul so loving it can cross the Nile and directly warm the hearts of the Egyptians."

"It's normal to be able to take such actions."

Yun Yang took over the conversation, his tone somewhat thoughtful.

"The Hebrews had God's protection, and once they were gone, the Egyptians would likely experience a population decline."

"If the Hebrews had stayed and helped farm, the food supply for the winter would have been several times greater, and more people would have survived."

"He knew that the reason why the Pharaoh asked them to help was far-fetched, but he was trying to find a way to keep innocent Egyptian people alive," Yun Yang explained.

Feng Feng's brows were furrowed, his eyes full of anxiety and worry.

He murmured softly, "The Hebrews will have to stay in Egypt for another week..."

"It feels like the night is long and full of dreams..."
