Floating Island
In the dim room, the man took out a computer from his backpack and placed it casually on the wooden table. He was now in a small village, and the only thing that supported him, a big star, to live here was his survival.
His slender fingers tapped the keyboard nimbly, and half a minute later, a completely black web page unfolded before his eyes.
He found his account with ease. The column at the bottom was the order. Clicking on it would display the information of the person who took the order.
He seldom used this website, having only used it once in the first two years after his escape. Fortunately, there were still some coins in his account, as he could not top up his account in mainland China.
Anber, only one name, everything else is blank.
He was wondering who this person was who could bypass the website's information verification system and brazenly register an account with empty information to accept orders. A chill slowly crawled up his back. It was the fear of the unknown and the fear of the person who was about to take the order.
Li Meng said that it was Tang Xiaoyou who told her, and Tang Xiaoyou was the first one among them to figure out the rules of the game.
No matter what Cheng Xiaoxiang asked, Jia Kun and Guo Yan covered the matter very well and answered without a single leak, without mentioning the AB level at all. After the truth was revealed, their first reaction was to distance themselves from the matter and not admit that they knew about it.
Chen An stood in a corridor lined with glass doors, and suddenly tasted a bit of the iceberg theory from the tortuous and unreal light. He vaguely felt that there was a huge darkness behind them, and they were all unaware of the darkness that was about to invade.
Chaotic and confusing words flooded into his mind. He stood still, looking straight ahead. Jia Kun came out from the other side of the office and walked through the transparent glass door. He was still using roundabout tactics with Cheng Xiaoxiang. He suddenly turned around and went downstairs.
Sometimes, the closest distance to the truth is not in the chaos surrounding the person involved, but after taking a step back and broadening your horizons.
Chen An drove alone to find Xia Yiru. The truth behind Wu Danyun's death was exposed. The studio that was about to be disbanded was saved after Xia Yiru used her capital connections to turn the tide. Several companies and authors were about to unite and sue them. When she pushed the door open, she looked haggard and was standing next to the printer printing documents.
"What are you doing here?" Xia Yiru glanced at him lazily. After that incident, she hated all policemen.
So the real bad guys are all logically consistent, just like she never thought there was anything wrong with encouraging Wu Danyun to plagiarize.
"Let's talk about some gossip in the circle that you know." Chen An didn't care about her attitude and walked straight into her office.
"What do you want to ask?" Xia Yiru had no choice but to sit on the sofa because her seat was taken by someone else.
Chen An crossed his legs and turned his chair slightly, "Lin Ran."
Xia Yiru couldn't help laughing, "Lin Ran?" She seemed to have thought of something and was in a good mood, "His past is more exciting than mine and Wu Danyun's."
"How is it wonderful?"
Xia Yiru turned to look at him, a sarcastic smile on her lips, and said in a light but playful tone: "He, is for sale."
She didn't see the surprise and disgust she wanted on Chen An's face, which made her a little unhappy. Her tone turned cold, "Lin Ran went to the island before he became a star."
"Which island?"
Xia Yiru took out a pack of cigarettes from her pocket, the flame of her lighter flickered. After lighting it, she took a deep puff and exhaled a thin layer of smoke rings, "Floating Island."
At this time, the protagonist of the incident was in the same room with someone else. He didn't like to wear sneakers, but the person in front of him was wearing sportswear, crossing his legs and leaning lazily on the back of the chair.
Lin Ran chuckled, "I didn't expect the person who took the order would be a high school student."
Anber put down her phone and looked him in the eye. "I never thought that a big star would hide in a place like this, pinning his hopes on useless policemen."
Lin Ran seemed to find it very strange and frowned, "I thought you would trust the police very much."
Anber raised her eyes lazily, "Who gave you this illusion?"
Lin Ran immediately thought of Chen An's face, but after a few minutes he shook his head and said, "No, this is fine."
"What do you need from me?"
"Keep me safe."
"that's all?"
"Yes, that's it."
After a few seconds, Lin Ran said worriedly: "You..."
Anber understood the distrust in his eyes and spoke slowly, "I was only 13 when I first killed someone. Don't worry, I have enough experience."
Qu'an City Bureau
"Lin Ran, a 26-year-old celebrity, lost contact with his assistant on August 2nd. The assistant reported the disappearance to the police on the afternoon of the 3rd. However, as if Lin Ran had anticipated his disappearance, a note was found in his room, leaving it for the assistant. It read, 'If I disappear, please call the police for me,'" Cheng Xiaoxiang said. "Jia Kun and Guo Yan refused to cooperate with inquiries about Lin Ran, denying any knowledge."
"And it's not difficult to tell from Guo Yan's expression that she doesn't like Lin Ran," Lu Yuyao added.
Bai Shuo said, "Lin Ran hasn't updated his social media account in a long time. The last post was a tribute to Meng Jia. The information we have is far less than when Tang Xiaoyou disappeared."
Chen An noticed their dejection. He tapped the table with his pen to draw their attention. "What Xia Yiru said is similar to what Li Meng said. They both mentioned the A and B grading. Of course, she also mentioned a very important clue - the floating island."
"Floating island?" Lu Yuyao asked, "What is that place? Is there such an island?"
"No one knows where this place is yet. She said she just heard a director mention it and mentioned Lin Ran's past in passing," Chen An said. "Lin Ran arrived on the island at 18 and left at 21. As soon as he left, he joined 'Dream Butterfly' and became a star. He was good-looking, and initially many resources came to him. He also did some magazine and TV appearances, but on the eve of his fame, someone suddenly kicked him off his career."
"A piece of news about PC quickly topped the trending search list. He spent two years fighting the lawsuit. During that time, his resources were cut off. The investors who had originally invited him to the show withdrew their funding, and he was also withdrawn from the production."
"He has a younger brother who was diagnosed with a rare Alzheimer's disease at the age of 17. His parents died early and as the older brother he chose to give up college to raise money for his brother. I think that was when he chose to go to the island."
Lu Yuyao had a question, "Why was he able to go from B-level to A-level?"
Chen An shook his head. "I don't know. We still don't know the exact operating mechanism of this so-called 'floating island', but..."
"But what?"
"Don't you think these look familiar?" Chen An's eyes were calm, and the lines on the brown-black pupils could be seen under the light.
Lu Yuyao reacted quickly, "Qu Mengting, Liu Hanxiao, Zhou Fuyuan, and even Jiang Li were all recruited by so-called talent agencies and taken to the border as trainees. Now, Tang Xiaoyou and Lin Ran are also inseparable from the agency."
"I have a terrifying thought: could Xu Qiuqiu and Cheng Minli, who disappeared first, have also been taken away in this way? If they really all disappeared in this way, then where does this chain of crime extend to? Dream Butterfly? Floating Island? Or... a deeper crime?"
Lu Yuyao got goosebumps at his own thoughts.
"I missed one, Luo Fanyin," Chen An said. "Luo Fanyin and Lin Ran were both on the island, and Tang Xiaoyou was about to go. Now Tang Xiaoyou is dead, and Li Meng said Luo Fanyin is dead. So the only living person who carries the secret of the floating island is Lin Ran."
"How long does Lin Ran's contract last?"
Bai Shuo checked and said, "Less than a year."
"Less than a year, so he's pressed for time. Can he possibly survive with all the secrets of the floating island?"
Lu Yuyao said, "No."
"But...Will Lin Ran not fight back?" Chen An pressed the fountain pen so hard that his thumb left a mark.
"Where are you looking for?" Anber glanced at him dissatisfiedly, then set her eyes on her sweatpants that had just been torn.
Lin Ran took a look and said with a smile: "I'm sorry, even big stars don't have much money nowadays. If you don't believe me, just look." Then he turned his pocket inside out, and only a banknote and a few coins fell out.
Anber looked at the torn pants helplessly, luckily the hole was not big.
"You actually showed up like this without any disguise at all. It's quite... novel."
"Because everyone who has seen my appearance is dead." He said in a calm tone, "Also, this is the first time I've taken a mission other than killing people."
"What if the mission fails and I die?"
Anber raised his eyelids and snorted coldly, "You're unlucky."
