Incineration

Incineration

It was pretty much what he thought. Fu Cun had been bragging all night. This scene was a vision of Xu Jiaming from a few months ago, but the situation seemed to be worse than before. After all, he had a program to block it before, but now...

"Jiang Li, why are you so quiet? Is the food not to your liking?"

Fu Cun deliberately cue him, and the atmosphere suddenly became cold. Jiang Li took the opportunity to ask to leave.

"It's a bit late. I want to go back early."

"It's only ten o'clock, and I don't have classes tomorrow, so I can play for a while."

"No, my parents are very strict." He stood up and took his bag. "Can I get a taxi here?"

Originally, Fu Cun didn't plan to keep him any longer. He brought him here to attract girls. Now that he wants to leave, he naturally won't stop him.

He stretched out his arms and leaned back, looking like a dandy, and said with a playful smile, "Yes, but the taxi fare is a bit expensive. So, when you get home, send me the bill and I'll reimburse you."

Jiang Li glanced at him and left with a cold face.

Fu Cun was really lucky. Before, he would not have had the chance to say these words to him. This man's disgusting face determined that Jiang Li would never have any contact with him again.

This place is remote, and it would take some time to get a taxi. A voice called out from behind, "Jiang Li."

Li Ziyang stood with him, bag on his back. He glanced at his phone and saw the notification that he had successfully called a taxi. He smiled and said, "Hike."

Jiang Li didn't comment, and Li Ziyang assumed he hadn't refused. After getting in the car, neither of them spoke. It wasn't until they entered the city that Jiang Li asked, "Where are you getting off?"

This was the first sentence Jiang Li took the initiative to say to him tonight. Li Ziyang suppressed the corner of his mouth that was raised, "Just in front, Xinxin Community."

The driver dropped Li Ziyang off at the gate of the residential complex. He hadn't taken two steps when he returned and knocked on the glass. Jiang Li asked, "What's wrong?"

"Add me on WeChat and I'll transfer the money to you."

"No need." Jiang Li decisively refused, rolled up the window and said to the driver, "Master, go back to Gongda."

He had to go back. He left in such a hurry that he left his medal in the dormitory. It was what he got from training this week, and he had to take it home to show off.

He came out of the dormitory building at around eleven o'clock. Some people were still in the library and the security guard had not left work yet.

Gongda University is not far from home, so he didn't take a taxi. He walked down Xihua Road and passed the west gate of Qu'an University. The street lights in this section had been broken for several days and had not been on. A big hole in the red tiles almost tripped him. There was only him and a woman on the quiet path.

The woman was wearing a thick coat in the still hot weather, with her hair loose and a canvas bag bulging with things on her back. He just brushed past her and then walked forward hesitantly.

The woman didn't go far and just lingered at the west gate. Jiang Li felt strange, and the vibration from his hand pulled his heart back home.

Suddenly there was a plop sound behind me.

"Goodbye, Boss!" Lu Yuyao, who had worked the night shift for a week and finally got her shift change, happily carried her small bag and walked out of the Municipal Bureau.

Chen An glanced at the time and it was almost two o'clock. Nothing had happened in the past few days. Apart from patrolling the streets at night to deal with some yellow-haired guys who were looking for trouble and a group of men who pushed and fought for no reason, there was almost no work.

The message Jiang Li sent him only stopped at "I'm on my way home" but did not report that he was safe at home. After thinking for a while, he called her. The phone rang for a long time and when he picked up the phone, there was a lot of noise in the background.

"Hello."

Jiang Li is still picking up medicine at the pharmacy at this moment.

"Where are you?"

"I'm in the hospital."

Chen An quickened his pace and opened the car door. "Hospital? What happened?"

"It's nothing serious. I sent a passerby to the hospital."

"No. 654!"

The hospital's number was called from the other end of the phone. Jiang Li answered and hurriedly said to Chen An, "I'll be back soon. Don't come over."

"Which hospital?"

The other party ignored his dissuasion, started the car and drove into the silent night.

Time goes back to two hours ago. The woman fell to the ground and Jiang Li ran over to check on her. He shook her body and asked, "Hey, what's wrong with you?"

The woman forced herself to open her eyes. She tried to stand up but couldn't muster the strength. Jiang Li supported her arm and helped her to the corner of the wall. "Are you okay? Do you need me to call an ambulance?"

The woman shook her head and said weakly, "...No need."

She fell to the ground and the documents in her canvas bag fell out. She wanted to reach out to pick them up, but Jiang Li squatted down before her and said, "Don't move. I'll help you pick them up."

The moonlight filtering through the shade of the trees brightened a little. As Jiang Li picked up the papers, he discovered a research report. Although he couldn't understand the models, he initially determined it was a medical report. So, she was a medical student. Then why was she so frail? Was she in poor health?

He tended to overthink things, so when he picked up the information and handed it to her, he asked casually, "Are you a medical student?"

The woman was motionless, so Jiang Li hurried over to check on her. Her lips were pale, her brows were tightly closed, and beads of sweat were oozing from her forehead. The key point was that she didn't respond no matter how he called her. He decisively called the city hospital and sent her to the emergency room at almost one o'clock.

When the woman was wheeled in for emergency treatment, he thought he wouldn't be able to go home until late tonight. However, not long after, she was wheeled out again and placed in a room for IV drip. Puzzled, Jiang Li asked the doctor, "Is she okay?"

The doctor said nothing and turned and left.

He found it strange that the woman hadn't woken up yet and was all alone. After much hesitation, Jiang Li finally decided to stay, at least until she woke up. The other people receiving IV drips around her were all grown men, and it wasn't safe for a girl to stay in the hospital alone.

He waited there for another hour, and he didn't know when he became so compassionate. Maybe he was infected by the "good guy".

An hour later, she woke up. The doctor, who had finished his work, walked up to her from the other end of the corridor and said, "Huang Shuwen, I believe you are aware of your condition. This is a report. Please read it and consider what to do."

Jiang Li almost cursed after waiting for so long only to get such nonsense, but when he glanced at the words on the report, he was stunned.

Rare cancer, he realized, this doctor must be very familiar with her.

Huang Shuwen put the report away, a faint smile on her pale lips, "Thank you for sending me to the hospital."

"I'll ask my boyfriend to pick me up later," Huang Shuwen said naturally. "My condition is incurable, but thank you for taking me to the hospital."

"What happened?"

He was not interested in other people's privacy, but she said thank you twice. Jiang Li suddenly felt very sorry for such a polite, well-educated young woman who was about to die.

Huang Shuwen stopped smiling and lowered her head. A trace of sadness appeared on her pale face. Finally, she said, "It was an accident."

Jiang Li knew that the topic ended here, so he helped Huang Shuwen get the medicine, and after he finished, her boyfriend came to take over.

At 2:30, Jiang Li walked out of the hospital from the emergency room and saw a car parked on the side of the road. He opened the door and got in. The strong smell of disinfectant mixed with a little fragrance invaded the passenger seat.

"What's that smell?" Chen An opened the window.

"Disinfectant."

"no."

Jiang Li raised his hand and sniffed the clothes. He smelled nothing but disinfectant. "No."

"Yes." Chen An firmly believed that there was a different smell on him.

"Shower gel."

"No." Chen An said seriously, "The shower gel you brought to school didn't smell like this."

They use the same shower gel, but it definitely doesn't smell like this.

Jiang Li thought of the girls who went to Weiyun Villa together, "Maybe he got it from someone during the dinner party."

The more perfunctory Jiang Li's explanation was, the more Chen An wanted to get to the bottom of it.

"You went to the hospital and couldn't get covered up. This person must have been close to you."

Jiang Li was surprised by his seriousness. Seeing his serious expression, he actually tried to recall carefully who had approached him. Finally, he came up with an answer - Li Ziyang.

Only this guy would come over from time to time and always try to chat with him for no reason.

"Oh, that's the boy I told you about who always chatters in my ear. His name is Li Ziyang. He always talks to me when he has nothing to do."

Chen An frowned briefly, "Don't get so close to him next time."

“It smells terrible.”
