Rebirth
Peng Yue was released around five in the afternoon. When he passed by the serious crime squad office, he stopped and raised an eyebrow at Cheng Xiaoxiang. In his condition, he couldn't stay for 24 hours and there was no need to.
Peng Yue stood at the door of the Municipal Bureau and took a deep breath, thinking: How can he be trapped in a place like this?
"Do you want us to take you there?"
Cheng Xiaoxiang appeared at the door without anyone noticing. The man who was absorbed in posing suddenly turned around and said angrily, "No need!"
Peng Yue's figure quickly disappeared around the corner, and Cheng Xiaoxiang called out from the door, "Xiaobai!"
Bai Shuo took the key and walked out, "I'm coming."
Peng Yue hunched his neck and ran into an alley in twists and turns. The car drove to the entrance of the alley but couldn't go in. The two had to get out and walk. They squatted at the door and looked across the grocery store.
"Isn't he very rich? Why does he live in a place like this?"
Bai Shuo brought out the tablet and spoke while operating it quickly with his fingers.
“So that’s even more problematic.”
Waiting in wait is a time-consuming task, so Cheng Xiaoxiang went to the front desk to buy a bag of melon seeds and inquired about the matter.
"Boss, do you have surveillance here?"
The grocery store owner was a middle-aged man with a big beer belly. He leaned back in his chair with his feet raised high. "Surveillance? Yes, I have one right now." He pointed to the door.
This surveillance camera captured the entrance of this alley. Judging from the age of the building, there is most likely no surveillance camera inside.
"Originally, the municipal government said it would demolish this place, but after waiting for a year or two, they canceled the plan. Hengyun Technology previously said it would be responsible for the surveillance here, but the workers who are supposed to install the surveillance have not arrived yet. Who knows how long we have to wait." The boss couldn't help but complain.
Cheng Xiaoxiang nodded, unpacked the melon seeds he had bought and placed them between him and Bai Shuo, then sighed, "Just keep an eye on them."
On the other side, the sun was about to set when Chen An and Jiang Li came out of the secret room base.
Jiang Li said nothing after getting in the car. Chen An saw how lost he was and snapped his fingers in front of him, "Wake up."
Jiang Li turned to look at him, "What?"
"How many days until school starts?"
Jiang Li fastened his seat belt and said, "Seven days."
"How are the preparations going?"
Chen An was like a parent, asking questions all over the place. He might even check his luggage before school started. Jiang Li found this quite funny and said casually, "Why are you acting like my dad?"
"Why do I sound so old?"
Jiang Li was amused, then he seemed to have thought of something and restrained his smile.
"Actually, my dad is pretty nice to me sometimes."
When interacting with him, Chen An was very worried about touching his scars, so he was very careful in what he said and did. This was the first time they talked about Jiang Li's parents.
"Sometimes I'm quite similar to him, stubborn, unwilling to admit defeat, and prone to temper tantrums."
"Likely to lose your temper?" Chen An smiled, "I don't think so."
"What about your mother?"
Jiang Li paused, "I don't have much impression of her."
No impression? How could he not have any impression? Logically, he should have been closer to his mother. Jiang Li should have been eleven years old when his mother passed away.
"I want to drink water." Jiang Li said suddenly.
Chen An glanced at the back seat and said, "There's water in the bag."
When Jiang Li got home at seven o'clock, he found the escaped Guazi as soon as he entered the door. Both the man and the mouse were stunned, and then a chase started in the house.
Guazi hid under the refrigerator, and Jiang Li lay on the floor to negotiate with it. Chen An passed by the cage and took a look. It turned out that the buckle was broken and it was not fastened firmly. With Guazi's current weight, the door could be easily opened by leaning on it.
"Come out!" Jiang Li was helpless. This was the third time he had caught it.
The melon seeds remained unmoved, as if they had guessed that humans would not be able to squeeze into this small gap, and they groomed their hair in peace.
Jiang Li took a rat strip and put it in, "Come on."
Guazi surrendered to Shutiao and walked out step by step. Jiang Li quickly grabbed it and threw Shutiao aside. He spoke to it with gritted teeth, "This is the third time. There have been three major prison breaks in ten days. If you want to escape, my heart will be broken!"
After Chen An fixed the cage, he turned around and found Jiang Li trying to verbally teach a hamster that loved to escape from prison. The scene was so funny that he couldn't help but take out his mobile phone to take a picture.
"I've been so good to you, why are you running away? Didn't I already promise to buy you a leash and take you out? Why can't you wait a few more days? This is my last warning to you. If you do it again, I'll peel off your skin and make gloves for me. Do you hear me? Don't blink! Don't act pitiful! Why don't you understand what I'm saying?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he didn't know if the little thing understood or not. It struggled desperately. One hand couldn't control it anymore, but how could the "evil" human let it escape so easily? Jiang Li clamped its limbs tightly with both hands.
"See how you run?"
Jiang Li was engrossed in fighting with the rat when suddenly an arm passed under his waist and lifted him up.
"It's autumn now, don't lie on the ground."
After standing still, Jiang Li held the melon seeds in his hand and said in surprise, "Did you see that? He lifted me up with one hand."
"Why are you carrying me?"
Bai Shuo was so sleepy that he was about to fall asleep. His head almost hit the steering wheel, and he was woken up by Cheng Xiaoxiang grabbing his collar.
"There's movement."
From day to night, no one entered or left this alley. He began to wonder if there was no one living here at all.
"What's going on?"
Cheng Xiaoxiang drooped his face, "My stomach is moving."
Bai Shuo rolled his eyes at him and said, "I'm going to buy instant noodles, and you're watching me?"
"OK."
After saying that, he opened the door and got out of the car.
The nights are getting colder and colder since autumn. Bai Shuo pulled his coat closer and thought: I'm still not wearing enough.
This place is so desolate, there are no lights at the entrance of the alley. Why on earth does Peng Yue want to live in such a place?
Walking out of the alley, there was light outside and a supermarket. Bai Shuo walked into one at random and bought two buckets of instant noodles. While waiting for the hot water, he could even take a nap.
People are taking a nap outside the alley and people are taking a nap inside the alley.
Peng Yue stared at the screen, complaining for the umpteenth time why the verification process was taking so long, he was about to fall asleep, and why hadn't the person come to see him today? If he had known that he wouldn't come, he wouldn't have come back, delaying his nightlife.
There was no light on in the room. He was very dissatisfied with the rent. He originally rented it for his own use but he signed the agreement without seeing the house. Now the agreement has not expired yet. He feels it is a waste if he does not live there, but he feels wronged if he lives there. After much thought, he can only reduce expenses to balance his mood.
As the time went on, the sky got darker. Peng Yue stood up and opened the window to let the moonlight in.
It is easy for people to fall asleep in a dark environment. After a while, he fell asleep on the table and slept until dawn.
“Ahhhh!”
Cheng Xiaoxiang had just finished eating two buns when he heard screams from upstairs. He pushed Bai Shuo and said, "Something happened!"
"Boss, Bai Shuo and I spent the entire night yesterday confirming Peng Yue didn't leave, and no suspicious individuals entered. This morning, the landlord, while collecting rent, discovered Peng Yue's body." Cheng Xiaoxiang led the men into the building. Before entering, he said, "The scene was a bit gory."
Chen An glanced at him and asked, "How bloody is it?"
Before entering the door, the corridor was filled with a strong smell of blood. Chen An put on shoe covers and gloves and pushed the door open. What he saw was a large area of red. There were bloodstains on the door, table, floor, and glass windows.
Peng Yue was placed in the shape of a "big" character, face up, eyes open, pupils slightly shrunken, mouth open, as if asking for help, but the murderer did not give him a chance. His carotid artery was ruptured and the wound was very deep.
The whole room was a mess with blood. Chen An carefully avoided the blood on the floor and walked to the window. It was an old floor-to-ceiling window with a rusty and useless lock. There was the most blood on the window, and it was in a splattered shape. It was speculated that the murderer might have killed Peng Yue with a knife nearby.
The blood on the ground was in a mess, mainly gathered next to the body, but there was a strip of blood extending all the way to the door.
There was also a small amount of blood on the door, running down the wood grain and dripping onto the floor.
In addition, there was a paper cup under the coffee table with some dried blood residue in it.
The strangest thing was that next to the corpse there were four big characters written neatly with a brush: I am the murderer.
