I am now on the "opposite" side of the door.
After confirming this fact, Duncan involuntarily moved closer to the crack in the door and carefully observed the situation on the other side.
This made him think of his previous experience after exploring the bottom of the cabin, and how he immediately returned to the bachelor apartment to confirm the situation on the other side of the door - a familiar mentality, a familiar scene.
But just like last time, there was no other "Duncan" on the other side of the door stabbing this way with a sword.
Duncan frowned slightly.
He had now reached this side of the door and had witnessed the situation there with his own eyes. He had even searched the entire ship, but had not found anything wrong during the search.
Then...what on earth was that guy who tried to disguise himself and whom I saw through the crack in the bottom door of the ship in the real dimension?
Duncan frowned slightly, turned around and looked around the empty and dim cabin, as if he wanted to find the thing that disguised itself as "Zhou Ming" here - he remembered that he had stabbed the opponent with a sword at that time, but if this was really the subspace, then a simple sword should not be enough to kill the opponent, and at least some traces should be left here.
But no, there was no trace.
After searching carefully, Duncan finally began to doubt his judgment.
Those things I saw through the crack in the door... maybe they were just illusions created by the subspace, phantoms that only I could see at that time. This also fits the characteristic that "the subspace will reflect the mind."
But... I can't explain why the phantom didn't affect my mind at all, and was even easily dealt with.
Duncan shook his head gently and put aside these confusions for the time being, but he couldn't help sighing in his heart - the subspace is really a place full of mysteries.
Then his eyes returned to the door.
Here, the door is slightly open inwards towards the door frame, while in the real dimension, at the bottom of the cabin of the Lost Homeland, the door is open a crack towards the outside, and the two correspond to each other.
Across the street was the real world, and the "Lost Homeland" that he was familiar with.
I seem to have found the entrance and exit connecting the subspace and the real dimension on this ship. In theory, I should be able to return to the real world by pushing the door open.
Duncan put his hand on the door handle and a smile appeared on his face.
Then pull gently and close the door.
Unexpectedly easy - he still remembered that when he and Alice saw this door in the real dimension, they also tried to close the door, but found that the whole door seemed to be cast in the space and was solid. No matter how hard they tried, they could not move it at all. However, on this side of the door, closing it only required a light pull.
With a slight click, the door closed tightly. Duncan stared at the closed door silently. After a few seconds, his expression tensed for a moment, and then gradually relaxed. However, his heart seemed to react half a beat slowly and suddenly began to beat wildly.
In the two seconds when the door closed, he emptied his mind and thought about nothing. He did not consider returning to the real world, being trapped here, or any consequences. He only gave himself a strong hint that "this door is dangerous", and then completed the execution without hesitation - and it was not until the door was completely closed that he released the emotional fluctuations that he had forcibly suppressed, and took a deep breath.
This may really be an "exit" connecting to the real world, but we must never really push this door open!
Although there was no clear evidence, a strong intuition reminded Duncan that the way to return to reality was not simply to push the door open - this was a temptation, a trap. He had already experienced a temptation in the bottom of the cabin of the Lost Homeland in the real dimension, and now this was the second time, which was more secretive and more difficult to guard against than the first time.
Duncan stared at the door with deep eyes, then slashed the door panel with the sword in his hand that was burning with spiritual flames. The dark green flame burned in the air and almost instantly engulfed the entire door. However, after a burst of burning, the door still stood there quietly, as if it was not affected at all.
Duncan's brow gradually frowned.
Faced with something that clearly belonged to the supernatural realm, the spiritual flame failed for the first time. However, it was not because the door was so strong - on the contrary, he did not feel any resistance from the feedback of the flame.
He didn't even feel the door.
Just like this ship, in his perception, this door does not exist!
However, this door could not possibly not exist - even if this ship really "didn't exist", this door must exist, because it could even exert such a complex influence on oneself as "luring oneself to open the door" and possessed extraordinary power. This thing definitely existed here!
Great confusion filled Duncan's mind, but he found it difficult to organize his thoughts. He checked everywhere near the door and the entire cabin, but he couldn't find any clues to answer his doubts. As time passed, he could only give up for the time being.
We can't waste all our time in this weird place - since this "exit" at the bottom of the cabin poses a huge hidden danger, we should find another way out.
While thinking, Duncan suddenly remembered something.
He immediately turned and walked towards the stairs leading to the upper cabin, quickly passed through the dark and empty cargo hold and the crew cabins on the upper floor, passed through the gloomy wooden door connecting the upper deck and the cabin, and came to the deck.
The dilapidated and old Lost Homeland was still floating in the chaotic darkness that seemed like the universe. The turbulent light and shadows that appeared from time to time in the surrounding area would occasionally reflect some huge and terrifying shadows of fragments, which slowly floated by from far or near. Some of those fragments looked like broken land, some were huge and twisted creatures, and some were simply completely unrecognizable. They were just a pile of simple "pile" that had lost its color and shape, which was very terrifying to look at.
But Duncan's attention was not on these huge floating objects. He walked directly across the empty deck and returned to the door of the captain's room.
The door of the captain's room stands here quietly, retaining the same appearance as when he left.
Duncan looked up and could vaguely see a few familiar words on the door frame in the dim light:
〖The door of Banished〗
As he expected, the special sign on the door was still there!
Deng calmed himself down and put his hand on the door handle.
If there was anything on this ship that meant the most to him, it was this door.
This door connected him to everything he was familiar with, and also brought him the first and greatest mystery in the world.
Duncan exerted a little force with his hands and pushed the door inwards. With the slight sound of the door hinge turning, the "Door of the Lost Homelanders" was easily pushed open as he was familiar with it. On the other side of the door was the thick fog that he was equally familiar with.
After a slight hesitation, Duncan took a step forward.
The feeling of penetrating the thick fog came over him, followed by a brief feeling of weightlessness and confusion and dizziness, but soon this feeling faded away completely, and Zhou Ming slowly opened his eyes.
He did not return to the bachelor apartment where he had lived for a long time.
He stood in darkness.
Zhou Ming lowered his head and saw that it was indeed his body as an "Earth human". He turned around and saw that the door he came from was standing there quietly, standing in the darkness, and remained open.
Looking around, one can only see endless darkness, it is the ultimate pure black, it is as if everything has been extinguished, as if the universe has ceased to exist.
Zhou Ming immediately summed up a new experience: on the "old and dilapidated Lost Homeland", after pushing open the door of the lost home, he did not return to the familiar single apartment, but entered a strange, dark space.
This extremely dark space is enough to make ordinary people feel extremely depressed and even terrified. Zhou Ming also knows this. However, for some reason, he does not feel any resistance when standing here. Instead... he feels inexplicably relaxed and relieved.
He didn't know what was going on with this strange feeling of relaxation, but intellectually, he knew that something was not right with him. This conflict between reason and senses made him doubly cautious, and he tried to take a step forward.
Even though it was pitch black here and there seemed to be nothing, there was ground under his feet - when he took a step forward, he could feel his feet firmly on solid ground.
Zhou Ming lowered his head and looked at the place where he landed. At this moment, he suddenly saw some ripples under his feet. Colors other than darkness appeared in this dark place - words emerged from the ripples.
He is familiar with Chinese.
[How old is he?
About thirty-five years old.]
There are just two lines of text, which look like a question and an answer.
Zhou Ming's eyes changed slightly, and then he took another tentative step forward. Sure enough, the moment he landed, new ripples emerged in the darkness, still in Chinese, and still in a question-and-answer sentence:
[What is his occupation?
A middle school teacher, teaching Chinese, and loves reading. ]
Zhou Ming felt his heart pounding. He subconsciously changed direction and took another step in the darkness.
[What is his height?
About 1.80 meters tall—not very strong, but in good health.]
Zhou Ming stopped and watched quietly as the ripples under his feet gradually spread. The grayish-white Chinese characters became clearer in the ripples, then dimmed again and dissipated as the ripples spread.
After an unknown amount of time, he took a deep breath and took another slow but firm step forward.
Words emerged in his footsteps:
[What does he look like?
It looks like this.]
In the darkness, a bright light suddenly appeared, and something seemed to condense into shape in the light in an instant. Zhou Ming suddenly saw a figure appear on the opposite side, a figure exactly like himself!
His heart almost skipped a beat and he subconsciously took a step back. It was this movement that made him realize that what was opposite him was actually a mirror.
That figure was my own reflection in the mirror.
Then, he lowered his head and looked at the new ripples caused by his half-step back, and saw the words emerging in the ripples -
[What's his name?
Zhou Ming.
