Chapter 377 The Gatekeeper's Battle

Everything happened in an instant.

Three Annihilation Cultists disguised as priests of the Church of Death launched a surprise attack. The surrounding black-clad guards came to support them. A dozen sewage treatment center workers fought with the guards. All this happened almost simultaneously.

A shocking fact is revealed here - this entire sewage treatment center has already been completely eroded and replaced.

No wonder there was no pollution reaction in the sewage sedimentation tanks and various pipes. Those "elements" that escaped through the sewers seemed to have evaporated - they already had their nests right under the noses of the city-state authorities and the church.

But there are still countless mysteries. Why can the Annihilation Cultists who follow the Lord of the Deep call out the name of the God of Death? Why can those "fakes" disguised as employees of the processing center deceive his perception? Where have the real employees here gone?

But reality did not give Agatha much time to think and deduce all this.

The Deep Hound's extremely corrosive and impactful dark breath whistled at her, and the foul energy ball almost brushed against Agatha's hair as it flew backwards, and in the blink of an eye it pierced through a pillar next to the sedimentation tank. The mental erosion released by the smoke jellyfish continued to attack her mind, making her movements slow and her thinking slow, while the pale woman who coexisted with the cat-shaped demon raised her finger from a distance, and countless criss-crossing bloodstains instantly appeared around Agatha - a corner of her clothes brushed past those bloodstains, and the clothes at the intersection were instantly decomposed into dust.

This was a premeditated trap. No wonder these heretics gathered here obediently to undergo "inspection" - they were actually planning to kill the church's gatekeeper?

“It’s a fantasy.”

Agatha said lightly, tapping the ground with her cane.

The slight knock of the staff end against the ground produced a loud noise like thunder, and then layer upon layer of illusory ripples spread out from the end of the staff. In just a moment, everything around became quiet, and the entire space around the sedimentation tank fell into darkness. Everything in sight was stained with gray and black. The black-clad guards and the "fakes" who were fighting each other stood still. Only a pale glow came into the room from the doors and windows in the distance and the cracks that appeared on the roof at some point, making everything in sight appear hazy.

In the spiritual world, Agatha held up her eyeballs with her left hand and "looked" at the three Annihilation Cultists who were also in a state of stillness not far away.

Beside them, the symbiotic dark demon was heaving with black flames. In the world of black, white and gray, the flames burned silently, and the smoke rose slowly like a slow-motion picture.

Agatha raised her cane and waved it lightly in the air.

The pale and dark space suddenly shook, and the projections of the black-clad guards who were fighting instantly disappeared into the spiritual world. She raised her left hand, and within her sight, there were only the three Annihilation Cultists and the dozen or so twisted counterfeits formed by "elements" behind them.

"Feast," Agatha said softly.

The beings in the spiritual world became restless. The shadows lurking in the cracks of the world received the invitation and permission of the gatekeeper. In just a moment, on the ground around the sedimentation tank, on the nearby walls, on the pipes, and even on the high roofs, all "surfaces" emerged with countless shadows of varying thicknesses and thinnesses - those shadows were like cheering crowds, or like a herd of thousands of beasts. They gathered into groups, surging along the surfaces of all objects, rushing towards the enemies in Agatha's sight!

Every surface within sight was covered with surging shadows. The scene was terrifying, but Agatha just watched it all quietly. Her right eye was calmly open without any emotion, and her left eye was tightly closed. In the palm of her left hand, the eyeball was constantly turning, staring at any movement around her.

The surging shadows first surrounded the "fakes". In the blink of an eye, they spread to the fakes like a surging tide and swallowed and dissolved them instantly, silently.

The next second, the shadows rushed towards the three Annihilation Cultists and their symbiotic demons.

Those dark demons sensed the danger.

A strange crackling sound came from the bodies of those demons and the chains on their bodies. The flames on all the dark demons suddenly vibrated violently, and even the edges of the bodies of those annihilation believers showed strange tremors and became virtual. In this area where everything was still, they actually struggled to "come alive"!

The young man who lived in symbiosis with the smoke jellyfish was the first to regain his mobility. He suddenly broke free from the restraints of the spiritual world, and the next second he instinctively looked up in the direction of Agatha.

At almost the same time, the skinny old man who lived with the Deep Hound also regained his mobility. He saw his companion's actions and immediately reminded him loudly:

"Don't make eye contact with the gatekeeper!"

However, his reminder was too late - the young cultist had already turned his attention completely to the "triangle area" where Agatha was standing.

Agatha raised her left hand, holding up her eyeball, and presented it to the young cultist as if she was offering her eye.

The heretic opened his eyes wide, staring at the eyeball in Agatha's hand, as if his whole body and mind were attracted by the eyeball - he stared at it absent-mindedly, even intoxicated, and a calm and peaceful smile gradually emerged on his face.

It was as if at this moment, he understood the true meaning of life and death, and found the whole meaning and answer of his life in this truth.

"Oh, how beautiful..."

He spoke softly, then smiled and slowly fell backwards, falling into the middle of the shadows that were surging like a tide.

He and his deep demon were torn into pieces by endless shadows in an instant.

But just as the heretic fell, a strange scream came from not far away, and a fierce wind pressure approached from the right. Agatha had to dodge slightly sideways. As an invisible sharp blade flew past her forehead, she turned her head to look in the direction of the attack.

The pale woman who coexists with a cat-shaped demon is screaming towards this side. Her mouth opens like a twisted and torn alien. The blasphemous spell is compressed into a short scream, and the next sharp blade is quickly taking shape.

On the other side, the Deep Hound was ready for its next breath attack.

Agatha seemed to completely ignore the Deep Hound and the skinny old man behind her. She just raised her cane and pointed it at the pale woman in front of her who was beginning to mutate like a demon. At the same time, she raised her left hand high and lifted up her eyeballs again.

The pale woman subconsciously avoided the gaze of the eyeball in Agatha's hand - but the next second, she was greeted by a dull gunshot.

A dazzling flame spurted out from the front end of Agatha's cane, and a large-caliber silver bullet shattered the pale woman's completely twisted and torn head.

The next second, as the heretic's headless body fell down and was swallowed by the shadow, a deep breath containing extremely corrosive energy also hit Agatha's back.

Black flames rose, smoke and dust filled the air, and the shock breath released by the Deep Hound exploded behind the gatekeeper and then quickly dissipated.

There was not a single scratch left on Agatha's black coat.

She slowly turned her head and looked at the last remaining cultist, the skinny old man.

The latter opened his eyes wide, his eyes full of surprise and horror.

"I thought that you dared to set a trap, which must be a well-thought-out move after investigating the intelligence," Agatha calmly looked at the last enemy, "but looking at your expression, it doesn't seem to be the case - could it be that the three of you are just abandoned pawns?"

The last cultist's eyes showed even more fear, and there was a hint of helplessness in his fear.

Agatha noticed the change in the other person's eyes.

"Are you looking for this?" the young gatekeeper said calmly.

The next second, she suddenly opened her mouth——

A ball of foul, extremely corrosive breath instantly formed in front of her, and with the same momentum and trajectory as when it hit her just now, it rushed towards the Deep Hound beside the skinny old man!

The Deep Demon instinctively sensed the danger and reacted almost instantly, dodging to the side. However, the Deep Breath that was sent back the same way suddenly changed its trajectory like a cannonball with eyes - it drilled into the Deep Hound's head with incredible precision, and after a brief delay, the demon made of piled bones exploded into pieces on the ground.

The skinny cultist who lived with the devil let out a scream instantly, and even though he had not been attacked at all, he immediately curled up on the ground in pain, unable to get up.

In the blink of an eye, a tide of shadows surged to his side, ready to continue the feast.

"Leave this to me," Agatha's voice rang out at this time. At the same time, the sound of the cane hitting the ground heavily echoed around. "Leave."

The shadows on all sides suddenly became agitated. The overwhelming malice and all kinds of chilling noises rolled like huge waves, invisibly impacting the entire space. Some shadows even vaguely moved towards Agatha.

Agatha's expression did not change, she just raised her cane and slammed it hard on the floor.

Another thunderous roar echoed throughout the space.

"roll."

After a moment of stillness and silence, all the shadows retreated like the tide.
